Listening to Garrett speak about anything is just purely captivating. I’ve never been more interested in what one human has to say about anything. You’re a true treasure Garrett. Love and miss you dearly brother ♥️
Man. Ever since I found out about Silent Planet, I knew Garrett was one of the best lyricists I'd ever heard. Nothing was meaningless, everything hit hard. This band saved me at one point (and I told Garrett that) and continues to do so. Can't wait to hear more about the rest of the album 💙
Garrett is the scene's best lyricist and one of the best vocalists in metalcore! I got my first tattoo themed off of the band, and it is unfinished but I cannot wait to get it finished and build upon it with the imagery of the next album!
I have so much love and respect for these guys. It’s a beautiful thing to form your interpretation of the songs after dissecting the poetic complexities of Garrett’s songwriting and how they go hand in hand with the instrumental. It’s even more beautiful hearing from the man himself delve deeper into the meanings and see what overlaps with my interpretation, while also getting even more insight on the inspirations of specific lines and the experiences that motivated the word choice. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these for the album. Be consumed, lovers forever X
Missed these breakdowns of the album, so happy to hear more about Trilogy. It's by far one of my favorite songs of all time next to Depths III When the noise feels so loud, Trilogy is genuinely my peace, where I can step back from all the static and focus inward. I swear be still is my mantra because of this song lmao Anyways, love you guys sm, thank you always for your art.
Garrett nails so much of how I have been feeling for years with my relationship to technology. I have used the internet since I was six and it was dial up. If you have not looked into mimetics I highly recommend reading into it. It helped my understand why I felt so lost in my life.
The gas station ad example! I had the same experience. It was so alarming/disturbing. Pro tip, 2nd from bottom on the right side of the screen will mute the ad. Zen.
Oh yes finally. I was hoping we'd get one on the new album eventually. I have an interpeation or speculation on what it's about but still excited to combine my thoughts with Garrett's to see where they differ or are similar. Also taking into account this album was more of a collaborative effort lyrically (and musically) as well is interesting too. And that there aren't footnotes (though I'm pretty their there if you know where to look just not listed like before).
Garrett, if you haven't already mate, go and read The Shallows by Nicholas Carr!! This explanation made me think of it the whole time. It's basically about this exact topic.
