Very helpful video. I used your troubleshooting process and found I had a stuck motor. I disassembled the front plate where the hydraulic hoses connect, then used a screw driver to turn the shaft. Now the trim motor operates in fwd, reverse and the solenoids both trigger. Thanks again.
Very nice explanation thanks. I need to fix my old Bennett HPU. Vintage 83 Team Scarab race boat. One side just clicks, other side clicks and motor runs. Neither tab moves. I'll check out the tab video also. Reservoir is full. Boat launches like the the Space Shuttle - in my case that means pointing straight up, haha.

Good evening, so I have new pump and when I apply power to the solenoids they are decent, but not loud clicks. The power to the yellow(reverse is strong) but the power to the blue(forward)is very weak. Fluid is full and have full battery and connections. Did I get a bad pump? Also, the test of sending power to one connector at a time isn’t affected by the trim tab lines correct? It’s in the boat not on a work bench. But the plug is disconnected
I’m having similar issue. Port side tab I hear when switched on but tab doesn’t move. It is stuck in the full bow up position. How do I test this on boat ..

The motor is not sold separately. You can go to just about any marine parts dealer or search the internet for a replacement hydraulic power unit. Part number V351HPU1 Tom McGow Bennett Marine
