Thank you~ Well you have a very keen eye! It is indeed Dendrobium goldschmidtianum and it is my oldest orchid in my collection. The biggest bloom spurt is around January (too late now) but I'll have to make a video when it blooms again! Thanks for the suggestion.
It looked beautiful and huge, but I’m sure I only saw a quarter of it! I love all orchids but partial to that Den. The color is so bright and warm in the dark of winter! ty
You should have watered or soaked it before working on it. Roots are more pliable and less likely to break when they have absorbed sufficient amount of water.
I had watered it one hour prior but by the time I was ready for the video, the roots were mostly dry/drier. You are right that I should have done it again at the start of the presentation as it is good practice and indeed helps with the whole operation.
Unfortunately as much as I would love to grow Lycaste, they are not suitable for South Florida outdoor growing. It is too hot for them here. I know they do need an extensive rest period but that is all I can tell you. Sorry
