We started SwitchUp as we just didn’t find what we were looking for in what was already out there. There are some brilliant creators - but we enjoyed a more retro format like the old gaming magazines. Scoring 5 sections out of 20 to give a percentage score like the good old days! Hopefully, you enjoyed our more unusual style. We’ll always try and cover any new Nintendo Switch games, Top Nintendo Switch games or Upcoming releases as best we can.

Hey guys - this was FAR better than I expected to be honest having heard of the criticisms of the earlier titles. Personally I would still buy the ultimate edition regardless of the digital downloads of 1-3 just because it’s only a small amount extra. Mark

I ordered the trilogy and then preordered Trine 4 separate. I wanted to have them all physically. So glad I ordered this game after this review. Can’t wait for tomorrow! Also glad I got a $10 gift card from Best Buy for preordering it (on top of price matching Amazon for $24.99). Going to put that gift card towards Sparklite. Thanks for the fantastic review!

The cheaper cost of the other versions was mentioned and that the PC version is available as a download code only (Amazon seems to have the PS4 and Xbox One on disc, take a look - unless the Amazon listings are wrong?) - it's worth mentioning that the PC version can at least be download DRM-free via gog.com - www.gog.com/game/trine_4_the_nightmare_prince

I've played 1 and 2 on WiiU. They were gorgeous and my wife and I had fun playing local couch co-op together. I'm excited to try 4 on Switch. It looks even better than the previous installments. Great review!

I bloody love Trine 1 and 2, although didn't play 3. They're so colourful, bright and lovely, and the gameplay is fantastic. I'll pick this up in the ultimate collection.

Considering the price I may aswell get the collection, but not right away I hate digital downloads on cart games!! But this does look beautiful, love the art style and have only the WiiU one but ci does seem to be the key, I’m not sure I can do some of those manoeuvres your did alone. So many patrons, soon you won’t be able to fit us all on the screen! Keep up the cracking work guys love the vids!

I love that y’all tell why a games bad and if we should wait for a sale, plus not to mention you say if it has a physical release or not which saves me time trying to look it up. What a beautiful series of games. The colors are so vibrant...I haven’t played any of these games and I since I can import a physical with all 3 games on one cart and this episode (4) obviously on a separate cart as well. I just wonder if I’d ever have enough time to play all these bad boys. What do I do?? ;)

I played the first one on PS3 and liked it but my problem with some heavy physics based games is you have to be super precise sometimes or have great timing. It got annoying at times in the first one. This looks much improved and I do plan on getting the ultimate collection. It's just a shame the physical only gets you 4 on cart.

@SwitchUp I'm really at odds with this one. The Trine series has had me intrigued for quite a while now, but with the current games I'm playing, and the upcoming Witcher 3, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed, I want to play everything but it's hard to focus my attention on just one game at a time, but I don't want to waste money on games I might not play, I'm considering buying the collection physical copy but that just adds to my ever growing backlog, any advice on what the best decision to make? Also great review

I too ponder about the same things ! In the top of my list I have yet to pick up are... Link's Awakening, Super Mario Maker 2, Sega Genesis mini classic, etc. And still playing thru numerous others... Yeesh !

TheActs2021 I'm currently playing links awakening, spyro and ghostbusters, they're all pretty enjoyable, I'm also playing a few other games on top of that but since I'm a casual gamer I don't spend every waking minute playing games which is probably why I'm getting overwhelmed. I can't wait to play the Witcher 3 though, hopefully I'll have enough room on my switch for it.

skip trine 3 it sucks ass , they went 3d with it and it doesn't work well . plus there's almost no story with 3 .

Nice one Mark, got to get the kids working early! Modern take on the adventure side scrolling games of the 90s I remember playing on PC. I like the details on the graphics. Looks nice and comfortable to play with Co-op.

Hello. Nice review! One thing that isn’t clear to me: On Trine 3 the game ends in about 1/3 of the story. I just want to be sure Trine 4 has a proper ending like in trine 1 and 2.

I played the other Trine games, and i had hoped that Trine 4 would change the formular a little bit. All the Characters and their abilities are very similar to the ones from the predecesors. .... but i guess never change a running system :)

Really important question and an answer that I cannot find anywhere online. In order to play multiplayer on switch do my friends all need there own copy of the game or can multiplayer be played with one copy?

This review made me think of this could finally be the perfect game to play in couch co-op with my bf. He’s older than me and he likes to play video games but somehow we never manage to find a title that we both like to play together. He really hates games where you need fast and tight reactions or beat ‘em up ones. So... could Trine 4 break the spell for us?

Nice review, Mark. I loved the first game and this looks like a return to form. A big thank you for mentioning that the first 3 aren’t on the cart of the physical collection. Like you, I do not endorse this practice and will just get 4 on cart as I think it will drop in price more than the collection (and 2 and 3 aren’t all that, in my opinion).

I played 1 and 2 on the ps3 and enjoyed them. And didn't even play the multiplayer. I don't think i knew there was a multiplayer.

Hey I've just notice that you got 50k belated congratulations, would you recommend the other trine games? (just heard the part of being the first one you have played, but how about other people from the switch up community?) I've seen them in sales but I'm not sure to get them, the gameplay looks like good in the platforming but kinda generic in the combat, in the visuals some can look stunning but some kinda looks like generic fantasy setting to me but I've haven't played it, so you are a better judge, hummm maybe will try to look for the collection, you have improved a lot from the days you had around 5000 subs, makes me feel nostalgic, hope you have a wonderful day

I just discovered this title, in fact this is my first time playing this type of game, so I need a bit of help... The game does not help me at all with the low gravity field, it just blocks my view with the advice picture of the joy cons, but it does not work at all.I am vvvv frustrated as I love the game... I even restarted the game, perhaps I missed something... but I am stuck, please help...

I'm also thinking about this... people have told me that for 15 bucks more it is worth it to have the 4 games, but remember that only 4th game would be physical if you buy physical.
