Glad to hear Game 5 is also solid. The Trine series are just great comfort games: they're not breaking any new ground but they're just a nice experience to be had in every single iteration.
For reference, it came out after Nine Parchments, storywise. Not that that helps, but that was pretty much the only reason I kept vigilant for Trine 4’s release. The free dlc for Nine Parchments had a new character, Selius the Nightmare Prince, that becomes the main plot for Trine 4.
Honestly, I tried a Trine game because it was free on PS+ years ago and liked it. I also love The 9 Parchments, so I may as well give this a try, too. Thank you for the review!
If you haven't played Trine 4, the main plot revolved around Prince Selius first introduced in Nine Parchments. And the dlc features the rest of the Nine Parchments students.
@@NekoiNemo It was called Artifacts of Power. That said, it was one of the few game series that really did stereoscopic 3D well. So much there was people sad the 4th game stopped supporting it due to changes to graphic cards in the industry.
To be fair, I think in-game, she refers to herself as an “entrepreneur.” EDIT: played a few levels but it also even mentions a “Guild of Entrepreneurs”
While I think 5 is still a fun game, I regret that it's more restrictive than ever with your options. Trine 1 and 2 might have been easier, but that meant that you can solve the problems in many ways, and it would be interesting for a Trine game to actually combine difficulty and creativity. For this reason, Trine 5 was only ranked 47 in my ranking of good games from last year on my channel.
I haven't played the 3rd one but all the other entries get better with each new one. Looks like this one is close to the 4th, just with new abilities, and that's fine by me. Maybe for the next they should just drop the combat with normal units and stick to the puzzle+action mix bosses since it's always been the weakest part of the gameplay.
Actually, I found the combat to be better in the first and second game, since it didn't feel like an arena battle as in the 4th game. I don't remember much about the 3rd game, though.
I remember when Somethingawful summarized the first Trine game as, “The Best Lost Vikings game since The Lost Vikings.” You know, back when The Lost Vikings was still relevant.
I’ve seen this advertised on YT, the advert is lack lustre of some 30+ people playing the game with occasional takes of footage. It’s weird, do they have low confidence in the game?
20 hrs !!!!? Who asked for that. I played all the previous entries 1 and 3 very good games, 3 mixed feelings about that one and 4 was shajt. Once again who asked for a 20 hour puzzle platforming campagin!' Jimmy is getting upseeeet ;)! For real, I wanted to play this game but now I have little motivation to play it.
Well, this is a relatively short game to play, action-puzzle platforming game. Sea of Stars is old school rpg, and Starfield is an open world game. Vastly different audiences for each game with of course overlap.
Gameplay looks promising but the goofy character design and the disgustingly saturated colors just spoil it for me. The early entries looked way better IMHO despite the aged engine.

I did give Trine a try, but I feel like it's a game that has been frankensteined to life when it has no good reason to exist. I can't imagine it makes big sales numbers, it's just not a very fun or inspired game imo. I'd love the studio to focus on a new passion project, because they're clearly good at what they do, I just wish they'd move on from Trine finally.
@@blindmown It’s not like Trine is the only game they’ve worked on. Between Trine 3 and 4, they did Has-Been Heroes and Nine Parchments (while taking place in the Trine universe, is a completely different game than Trine, it's gameplay more like Magika.) Between 4 and 5, they did Starbase and Boreal Blade. But Trine fits a very specific niche that has very little competition but a devoted fanbase.
There are new abilities. Not far in the game yet,but Pontius gets a new sword throw that acts as a springboard platform that Zoya can also rope to, which is a big game changer. He can also get a skill upgrade to use his shield to surf over hazards. As far as other trailers I seen, Zoya will get a teleporting fairy rope. She can get a skill upgrade where she can create a sticky bomb. There are puzzles that change the properties of Amadeus’ objects, such as reverse gravity. Amadeus can upgrade that his platform object rains hails as an offense option.
