The absolute best played panorama tune everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I was 19 yrs old at that time in 1980 and a high Tenor player of South Stars with Steve Achaiba but nothing moved me like this rendition. It was pore raising
I must have listened to this every day, multiple time a day, for over twenty three years. It never gets old. Mesmerizing arrangement beautifully rendered.
YES Yuh right an de slow Jam......OH MY GOD....Genius.....but long before....Calypso Rose....de Action is tight.....de bass voices, in de end of de tune....BEM BEM DEM...BOM.....pure pure GENLUS......
How can anyone hold still to such beautiful music? ...man... I have got to get back to Trinidad I miss it so much! The culture makes sense to me, I felt completely at home there.💖🇹🇹
I am one of the original members of Starland Steel Orchestra and I haven't heard this band blay since I left T&T 38 years ago. This is fantastic music.
You're forgetting one very very important other piece. Now taught as part of steel pan music curriculums throughout universities across the world.... Pan in A Minor by Renegades (Jit Samaroo)
I was standing By the grandstand Up in the savannah Digging this Indian girl Beating bass pan Coming up in Despers With Symphony in G arranged by Clive Bradley Make the spectators leave the stand And just run out to the band While she play The crowd shout and say We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass She beating Yuh could imagine First pan for the day How people breakaway Cause all the while I tell you What they were hearing Is only brass and DJ Thus written in the air Woman prancing like she ain't care This Indian girl tie she shirt round she belly Beating a sweet sweet melody On the stage The crowd went rampage We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass She beating My friends This is one thing I have to mention How disappointed Were the foreigners After coming down here to hear pan But them Desperadoes Had them on they toes Took away all they frustration Keep them jumping in the sun The crowd start to roar Despers give we more We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass We want the woman on the bass She beating
i am a despersman all my life but have been living abroad for 45 years ...and every time i listens to "Scrunters woman on the base" by All Starsit gives me such a great feeling to see how far our pan arrangements have come.

I totally agree with you 100%.....this is what yuh call pan in de 21st. century, like you to this day I could still distintly remember that night in history.....pores raising right now!!!
2023 and still loving this arrangement! 2023 and looking at current recordings of current steelpan competition in T&T and lamenting, LAMENTING, that conditions haven't been improved. People of T&T demand more of your politicians and big business owners - there should be venue built for practice and competition by the steelpans. That venue would have proper seating for visitors, dignitaries, refreshment, washrooms, including a change room for the performers, a library to educate visitors about steelpan, carnival, Trinidad, etc. Trinidad carnival brings too much $$$ into the economy for there not to be a more professional venue for the performers and visitors. Demand improvements! ~
The best panorama tune ever played in the world was Curry Tabanca from Katelli All Stars and i'm a diehard Renegades fan. This one was also good, but Curry Tabanca take de cake or throne.
no this is the sweetest. When you her this it takes you back to the final and makes you remember what you were doing when this played. this is too sweet
I think the flagman is right-handed, but best I can tell, everyone else is ambidextrous. And brilliant! And the power moves are almost always to the right and clockwise, although the full sweep back to the left and across the top with the sticks trailing slightly is great theater - and great drumming. Cheers!
I remember panaroma back then living in Port Of Spain behind the bridge and when it was panaroma time everyone had on their jersey old and young despers coming from the hill with everyone blue diamonds solo harmonites, those were fun and pan wars
Anybody say pan music ain't sweet, tell them dey damn lie!....listening to this on what would have been Carnival Saturday night, if COVID didn't make ah mas of everything and I have a serious tabanca.
Where else but Trinidad & Tobago , from the Oil Drums / Steelband music Originated . Andy Narell among others has done a great job . Pan Jazz is great .
+Danley Mark It really is a fantastic ting that T&T made from ole steel ent it? The human spirit for creative endevor is especially strong in this journey.
+kappad0g Bless your Mother, and yourself. I sure wish my Mother had lived long enough to discover the steel orchestra with me, alas, she passed before I heard the big TT sound myself. I think she would have enjoyed it...I became a pan jumbie myself. Yes this is one sweet smooth great rendition of a very melodic tune. Just fabulous.
