Son décès prématuré est d'une violence inouie... Ce génie qu'il était. Cette musique. Cette musique incroyable qui'l arrivait à faire jaillir de ces guitares. Les mots ne tiendront jamais leur role dés lors qu'il faudra parler du silence infini qui nous accablera de son absence... vie héroïque, vie d'artiste majeur, j'envie ceux qui l'ont contoyé. Ce live est un délire absolu. Que le monde en soit témoin.
Sylvain Luc et ses sons extraordinaires, il faisait sonner sa gratte comme une harpe, un violon, une basse, une guitare bien évidemment et aussi même comme parfois un synthé. Incroyable musicien qui est partie tôt, R.I.P Sylvain Luc.

This guy is just redifining what the guitar can do, even in June 2019 which is when this is posted.

Everyone thanks the best one to be what he is, and try to be better at his time to make the music and the world be smarter and better
Today's jazz guitarist are taking playing jazz guitar to a level we've never heard before, simply awe-inspiring. Totally different from mainstream jazz and breaking new grounds. This guy is totally outstanding just like Bireli he just has a different style he's not better or worse, when its played at this level there is no winners or losers or competition its all great, the listeners are the winners.
Unreal. How can 1 guy get so much out of 6 strings? Never seen a guy get so much out of a guitar there is nothing he doesn't know about that guitar he knows every note on it, no mystery notes everything is masterful played as though he created the guitar.

Incredible trio work! Sylvain, Andre and Jean-Marc are brilliant musician, each with great musicality. Sylvain deserves wider recognition. I love his duo work Bireli and they are superblycomplimentary but Sylvain is the more sophisticated improvisor.

And, another pointer: Sylvain Luc does not play mega $$$'s, custom shop Gibson in this video. He plays an ordinary (100% Made in Canada) 5th Avenue Kingpin II, that costs $ 995.00 CDN and, one of the nylon strings Multiac's models, the guitars that any aspiring Canadian College/University Jazz Program student can easily afford. In short: the magic is in the soul and fingers of the musician, not in the brand and/or price of his instrument (Have you read this part..., you Gibson/Chipson clones fanatics ???) Lol...

Première écoute avec un vrai bon casque et c'est la claque. J'entends un pianiste... Encore un musicien français trop méconnu par les siens. On est au delà du talent, du jouer pour montrer, il vivait la musique, était attentif a l'autre dans son jeu pour créer quelque chose ensemble et non pour superposé des chorus et montrer que j'existe. La classe,.la.simplicite, le bonheur. Merci pour tout Sylvain.tu vas beaucoup nous manquer.

@@falsenotefest Yes, Robert Godin speaks French with heavy English accent and vice-versa. BTW... I fell in love with those Godins and ended up with a collection of them (6 to be exact). And you are right, his Guitars are built like Russian tanks, but play like butter Lol...
J'ai vu Sylvain Luc des paquets de fois, en solo, avec Biréli, M. Portal, S de Battista ... et c'est toujours extraordinaire ! Essayez, comme moi de convaincre Just Looking Productions de sortir le DVD ...
Chiche ! J'ai déjà essayé il y a 3 ans de ça mais si vous avez des pist[e/on]s... Au moins que ce soit publié sur une plate-forme d'écoute en direct (streaming, donc) genre Spotify, Deezer ou que sais-je encore.
andrè ceccarelli is a real master...he plays with the top jazz musicians all over the world...i saw him live many times (also with Sylvain): the drums become a melodic instrument in his hands...he deserves your appreciation, you have great taste and smart ear!!!!

I have seen many comments on YT questioning how people can give certain videos a 'thumbs down' and never thought much about it. Let me go on record; what the Hell were the 5 thumbs downers thinking? What more could you possibly be looking for, or did you get here looking for videos of people falling down? Funny kittens possibly? Brilliant musicianship, I wish I had found this sooner.

Excellent! What a great trio. So well balanced - everyone's listening. The drummer states such a beautiful groove whilst accompanying the conversation between guitar and bass - absolutely perfect. I love it. So is there a DVD available?

@@charleshenri5847 Non, je ne confonds pas... Et je suis entièrement d'accord que tout musicien (et tout écrivain ou artiste en général a des influences qui le construisent), mais je n'entends vraiment pas l'influence de Benson dans ce trio... Plutôt, par moments, le premier album/ trio de Metheny dans Bright Size Life (1976). Quant aux influences de S. Luc lui même, elles dépassent largement le cadre du jazz et même celui de la guitare... Un guitariste de jazz génial, c'est incontestable, mais avant tout un maître de la musique improvisée... Merci de m'avoir donné l'occasion de préciser mon point de vue ! :) Très affecté par sa disparition... :(
@@hp6031 Je viens de re-écouter et tu as raison : plutôt méthénien en effet. Je me suis laisser tromper par les passages en octaves (assez rares d'ailleurs).
