Took a ride in my friend's Turbo Commander Jetprop 980 out of CMA. Very impressive plane with the Garrett Dash 10 engines. Climbs at 4500ft/min and does 300kts at FL280. In fact, there was TBM930 that took off just before us, and we outclimbed and overtook him almost immediately.
The 980 is probably the best TC they ever built. I'm very jealous - wish it was mine!

Very nice. I got to ride in an earlier piston engined Aero Commander from Carlsbad, Ca to Indio, Ca way back in the early Seventies. We flew to an air show there, walked around a few minutes, then got back in and flew back. It was pretty socked in on the coast when we got back, but suddenly a hole appeared in the cloud cover before us, and we did a wing over and descended down through it, and saw a tanker lying just off shore next to the Power Station, fueling it. My friend, a P-38 fighter pilot during WW 2 in the Pacific, set up a simulated strafing pass on it, but not so low to get him in trouble. When we landed, we found no bullet holes in the plane.

Didn't show any of the plane until the very end. No views to the side or back towards the wings and engines. Waste of time.

Jerry, it's not so easy to start rigging multiple cameras with suction cups on someone else's plane when you're just bumming a quick ride. I just grabbed what I could with my own camera and the iPhone, and even that was very limited. When I get my plane back, I will cover it much better.
