Hi, I'm Kirby Allison, and in today's video, I share my recent trip to London with my wife for the coronation of King Charles III. It was a trip I had been eagerly anticipating, and having Bianca join me made it even more special. After six years, we finally found someone to agree to watch our three child alone! During the trip, I received a surprise gift from Budd Shirt Makers, a commemorative silk pocket square. The coronation itself was a historic moment, and being able to experience it firsthand was truly incredible.

My father was in the procession in 1953, He was one of the leading coldstream gaurds going down the mall. Such a momentus day for him, He will be 89 now and still going strong. Old soldiers die hard you know, He still has his 1953 coronation medal. And has very fond memorys of that day. And of course we are so very proud of him, He will always be my hero. I hope you and your wife enjoyed your time here for the coronation, She is very beautiful, You are a very lucky man Kirby, All the best.

I'm 75 and I remember the late Queen's Coronation - or at least, some of the events surrounding it, such as the street parties, the food, and then piling into the only house on the street that had a television. Mostly I remember the cake - we still had food rationing in the early 50s but it was taken off for the Coronation so that the whole country could celebrate with a feast... but once the official celebration time had ended, our food was rationed again. So my primary memories are of cake. I also remember Queen Salote of Tonga. It rained in 1953 too and there was a much longer procession of carriages than this year. All the hoods went on/up to protect the guests, except for Queen Salote's. She didn't care about the rain, she was enjoying herself with the crowds, so she beamed and waved throughout the downpour and the British people loved her for it.

As someone who actually attended the coronation, I must say it was truly magical. Of course, most people who watched on TV saw far more than any of us who actually were in the Abbey.

Once again, a fantastic video Mr A. That pocket handkerchief was a wonderful gift, and the way that you nonchalantly folded it was a work of art, most people make a big show of it. Everything else that covered was amazing, especially Bianca being so lucky getting the Floris bespoke perfume.

The world has experienced quite a few coronations since Queen Elizabeth II was crowned. There have been two in my native Norway, but also in Denmark, Sweden, the Nethrelands, Thailand, Japan to name some of the other monarchies left in the world.

So nice you could share some of your favourite places and activities with Bianca. I remember my trip to Windsor Castle. The Queen was in residence at the time. Some of us went right instead of left down one of the pathways. A Police Officer holding a submachine gun appeared out of nowhere and politely informed us we were heading towards the private, not the public area of the Castle. Needless to say we changed direction smartly.

I found the TV a bit small for watching the coronation with so many people in a large room. Did you notice that at the time or was it somehow disturbing if you sat further away? Thanks for letting us share your trip to London together. I find you very likeable and I think you and your wife are a great couple. I also watched the Father's Day video. And your boys are very well brought up too. Your daughter is just like mom too. I have a five year old son myself. And the time we spend together and the influence you have as a parent with your upbringing to form a good person is priceless for me personally. Warm greetings from Germany. You should frame that pocket square. My father-in-law had a commemorative towel from Michael Jordan's last game that was only given to those fans that stayed until the very end of the game. That cheap towel is worth $4,000 today or more. Michael Jordan signed them all and there were only 23 of them. He put in in a frame.

I was working in His Majesty's service on the day, so could only follow along the ceremony on the radio and saw glimpses on television during my lunch break. Such a momentous event and made me so proud to have served both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.

My goodness. Winston Churchill’s personal humidor is still stocked with antique cigars in Blenheim. I’d imagine if they were left totally untouched, they probably aren’t smokeable anymore, regardless it’s a rare and highly valuable piece of history. If the contents were kept properly humidified those cigars would be basically priceless. What an honor (and expense) it would be to smoke something like that after all this time. I wonder what an antique cigar would taste like…

If kept in a really good humidor I would think you stand a chance. My Father passed away 5 years ago and my Sister checked his cellar and walk in humidor out. Unbelievable everything in tact and not a cigar in bad order! According to her mother she my deranged Sister, decided tgat she was going to smoke and drink everything as was her right she believed! She would never have appreciated it all really, it was just free! What a waste. I would have loved just one Churchill Bolivar and a measure of his Echschaus cognac! Such a waste!

I've been hesitant to consider a leather strap for a nice watch. I've had a few too many break or become damaged, and it's the same problem as with a leather belt, the hole becomes stretched. Obviously if the strap is bespoke it can be made just for the diameter of your own wrist. I'm sure there are ways to care for the leather, but I just feel like if I'm going to pay quite a lot for a nice watch, I'd rather just have a stainless steel bracelet. At least I know that I can clean it and it will always look fine.

To be clear, the Black Cab driver drives a Black Cab. They may have themselves be Black but he was specifically referencing the color of the Can as in NYC Yellow Cabs are the norm. Fun fact they have to memorize maps and have to take a knowledge test. Also I may be wrong on that but let’s wait for Kirby to clarify, cheers!

I can say from personal testimony that it is quick, painless and a great future stress reliever, and does not affect anything a gentleman could not possibly talk about in front of a lady.

England? You mean the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. England hasn't been a sovereign country since 1707. Instead, it is only one of the four home countries of the UK. Didn't you know that? (Great Britain is the geographic term for the mainland of the British Isles. It comprises Scotland, England and Wales, NOT just England.) The Queen was (and King Charles is) the monarch of the United Kingdom, not simply "England ". Although Americans always spoke of "The Queen of England ", they were always wrong.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I really am, and it is indeed nice to have a reason to dress up (why we are all here on your channel). But as an Irishman I'd rather stick lit cigars in my eyes than watch the nonsense of the coronation. outdated ridiculousness, and no they do not bring in tourism money - the lack of a monarchy hasn't stopped visitors to Versailles or the Forbidden City in Beijing. Take a listen to the Guardian series of podcasts which goes through just how much money they have - tens of billions. They have zero scrutiny of their wealth which comes from the British people, they don't pay taxes, and yet there have never been so many pensioners living below the poverty line or more food banks in the UK than now. We were their first colony - 800 years we suffered under them. They robbed the world blind for half a millennium, enslaved whole nations, got rich on slavery, |allowed famine to devastate my own country and several others, then they cut countries in half to try to clean up the mess they had made but just created more problems (Pakistan-India, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Palestine etc.). And all the time they did this in the name of their king or queen - and the riches flowed upwards like paybacks to a mafia boss. America was the first country to break free of their tyrannical yoke and we used to look to America for inspiration - sadly not any more. rant over. Yes I own jackets from Saville Row tailors (ready to wear, can't afford bespoke) - several pairs of English shoes made in Northampton by brilliant English and immigrant craftsmen, ties, pocket squares, coats etc. but I see these as the products of enterprising men and women - and not related to the monarchy - I have family there as every Irish person does and I'm glad that they have thrived as have so many citizens of the Caribbean islands, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and so on - but I believe they need another revolution to dissolve the monarchy, confiscate their palaces, and while they are at it kick out the oligarchs and confiscate their properties also and try to give some tiny modicum of equality to their citizens.

The US system is not too disimilar in a way. Every president is already wealthy to begin with and you get familys like Kennedys & the Clintons keep cropping up. They just swap them around every few years to give the facade of a functioning democracy.
