50 years ago boarded 747 alitalia to toronto that's why they call this plane the queen of the skies, it still lives up to his name. Excellent video thank you.
Ah yes, when Alitalia had a respectable fleet of classic widebodies ( MD-11, 747-200, the A300 & 767. Let's not forget the Maddogs that formed the backbone of the fleet. ITA's logo looks like cotton candy on wings & Rome fumicino nowadays is a magnet for cattle class no -frills birds. Flying through Fiumicino was a pleasure in the 1990s.
Happily flew the B-747 in 1980's with Northwest, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines. My favorite aircraft. Economy seats were roomier and more comfortable.
I have seen the most incredible sunrises over China similar to what you experienced. ICN is one of my favorite airports and the 747 is my favorite aircraft.

Muchas gracias!! La calidad del servicio de Lufthansa, sin lugar a dudas, a mejorado mucho en los últimos años... sin embargo, ahora tienen la tarea de mejorar en cantidad. Si te fijas en la primera comida, a parte del plato principal (que no es muy grande...) no hay absolutamente nada que te llene. No se puede aguantar 8 horas sin comer nada tras unos 100 gramos de arroz y unos trocitos de pollo. El poner fruta de postre está genial. Es muy saludable... pero no llena absolutamente nada. =/
Que bien que explicaste lo de las estelas. Yo' ignorante pensaba que era fuil que los pilotos dejabas escapar por tener exceso del mismo para aterrizar. Bueno gracias por otro precioso vuelo y muy buena comida. Espero te haya gustado a ti. Saludos desde Canada.
Another great trip report. Now, I would be honest that I thought all the B747s were being retired, but I guess I am wrong. Anyway, a great video trip report, especially one with the smoothest landings that I have seen. Great video.
Thanks a lot!! Lufthansa is planning to keep the B747-8i as their flagship for many years. For airlines that have First class and Business class, and they still want plenty of space for a Premium Eco and a relatively big economy class, they need big planes. Those ones currently are the A380 and B747.

Was flying with Lufthansa 747-8 to sao paulo lately. Lufthansa really ramped up their service and food in my opinion. Stewardess knew what I want to drink before I told her, just from the previous drinks (and I was in economy!) . Really enjoyed the trip with them!
Just come back from a RTW trip……last leg….Houston to Frankfurt on a Lufthansa Queen of the Skies……..I had a brilliant trip and the 747 was a highlight……just an absolutely superb aircraft. Massive, quiet, elegant…….and Lufthansa fast becoming my favourite airline…..and I’m English…….great video. Thanks.
Gosh that was some huge beautiful bird ❤✈.I couldn't believe just how quiet the engines were..Lufthansa has got to be the best in my opinion. Good to see Lufthansa improving! Last year,I’ve took a flight with them between Munich and Vancouver on their a350,wasn’t good at all! For Breakfast,they gaved us a sandwich and a peach yoghurt and the ife wasn’t really responsive.So good to see them improving in a good way.Excellent trip report like always btw

I've not flown for 40yrs and never gone long haul. Watching this video I am beginning to understand how vast our planet is! Doubt I'll ever fly in a 747, is the Boeing better than the Airbus 380?

The catering service was absolutely good. The thing is that for a 12h flight was clearly insuficient, especially the first meal. If you check it well, you see that there's nothing that will prevent you being hungry in 2-3 hours except the chicken and rice and that piece of bread. The lack of midflight snack on a 12h flight should be prohibited.
Another great report sir, never worked out why Lufthansa took the 747-8s on, they have really no need for them and the cost to operate them as another fleet type must me huge.
They actually have a big need: first class. Firat class takes a huge space on a plane and if they want to offer a proper space for all the other classes, they need the a346/a380/b747. That'a why ypu dont see first class eats on a330/b787.

Awesome videography and trip report. I have a technical question. When the speed brakes are deployed right on landing why does one immediately deploy but the other three deploy much more slowly? I noticed that on my recent arrival into LAX on the same aircraft type.
Thanks for sharing! I am the last person to comment on food, but I must agree that two smallish meals on a nearly 12-hour flight is ridiculous. Were there sandwiches or something available in the galleys? Korean Air or Asiana would not serve only two meals in the Economy class. It has been a while since I have flown with the good old Lufty, and after this, I am not tempted to do so. I have a status with BA that has many issues, but the food is better on their long-haul flights.
Unfortunately Lufthansa is not at all what it once was. There is so much more room for service. And... well... a better cleaning and maintenace of the cabin.
I don't have anything to say related to maintenance. The cabin on the B747 should be refurbished... that's correct. Those screens are completely outdated. But the seats are pretty comfortable. There's room for improvement aboslutely... But what I love from Lufthansa is that they currently have basically all the interesting airplane models... which is something that won't last long unfortunatelly...
Yeah! But that's, I think, because in the US they still need to replace them with new ones. They were also that way in Europe, but many of them were replaced with this new design.

Sin duda! Las cabinas del 747-8i de Lufthansa piden un lavado de cara urgente... veremos si lo hacen o no... en caso de que sí, sería una clara señal de que esperan operarlos muchos años más tal y como dijeron hace un par de años... Es muy silencioso... tal vez no tanto como parece en el vídeo pero es muy muy silencioso. Saludos y buen finde!! :))
Does not LH provide any in flight snack before breakfast?? Do they offer snacks and beverages in the galleys in between meal services? Like klm air france delta etc?
They were only giving you a very small KitKat if you would go to the back galley. Otherwise, nothing. There was no "official midflight-snack". That's why I say there is room for improvement still.
