My goodness we just missed each other. I took the train from Vienna to Krakow last week. Went 2nd class, what a piece of junk the car was old and very warm inside. Will be taking the train from Katowice to Prague in about 10 days and then after 6 days in Prague, Regio Jet, your recommendation, from Prague to Bratislava. Enjoyed you video thanks for taking me along with you. Any suggestions for a short train ride an hour or two while I am in Prague?

If you want to try some trains around Prague, you can try the new InterJet train on the route Prague - Pilsen (Plzeň) - it runs every 2 hours and you can recognize it by its IC (InterCity) designation. On weekends, you can also try one of the KŽC trains, operated by historical sets (e.g. Kokořínský rychlík with Bautzen coaches or "Pražský motoráček" operated by a historical railcar).

Hi Pete, nice vlog. New subs here. We will be traveling in Europe next month. I am trying to buy or reserve tickets for Night Train from Prague to Krakow however I am unable to find one. The travel date is Nov. 5, 2023. Where can I book a ticket? Thank you.
From what I could see, 3 or 4 compartments were occupied, but closer to the next seating car. On weekdays, there is not much seating car occupancy, but on weekends, 80% of the compartments are reserved. Otherwise, the seating cars on this train are mostly used in shorter domestic sections and the most passengers usually takes the ZSSK open plan coach.
Only one thing is missing, but this is not a travel-kind, instead spottingish something: switching the coaches at Bohumín station.😎 The Slovakian ones are disappointment for me, the Görlitz-sleeper ones were sold to Hungary. Very good travel video, I am looking forward for another ones.👍
Thanks so much! Yes, I considered whether I should stay awake until Bohumín, but finally I chose to go to sleep already in Olomouc, because I needed at least 4 hours of sleep .. In addition, on this route it is ideal to fall asleep before Bohumín, because then due to the condition of the track, it is impossible to fall asleep until Katowice :-D
Yes, that key card was unique. I tried the key card in the door of another compartment and it wouldn't open. I also asked the car attendant and he confirmed that they are also unique within other cars, i.e. e.g. the key card from car no. 4 cannot be used in car no. 5. Only some types of sleeping cars use key cards, e.g. ÖBB Nightjet WLABmz, MÁV Start (only some types adjusted by CAF), ČD WLABmz and reconstructed WLABmee..

Díky, pokud myslíš to WLABmee, tak určitě zkusím.. akorát musím ještě počkat, protože ještě stále rotují dva nerekonstruované vozy a při mém štěstí by zrovna jeden z nich jel :-D
@@jirivalenta6382 Jo, ale pokud se na Budapešť točí 3 vozy a jeden je stále ten původní, tak je to pořád risk.. to chce počkat, až odešlou i ty poslední dva rekonstrukci
the irony when beer is cheaper on a train, than it is in a bar :D reminds me of taking a train from Prague to Nove Zamky and I was amazed how cheap everything was. Great video!
I think it is already possible to choose breakfast on some ČD night trains (I saw the order form on the EuroNight from Budapest to Prague) and probably on the train to Zurich (I will try it soon). Otherwise, I have no experience with MÁV yet, but I also plan to try it soon. But overall, ČD has a better breakfast box than, for example, PKP or ZSSK.
