Seeing this was filmed last summer, I'm surprised how many passengers and one FA wore face masks! Do you have family at both Long Beach and Oakland? The open air boarding area reminds me of Kona in Hawaii--another avgeek channel features a SWA flight from Kona to Honolulu, boarded by that 'Z' ramp as well. Brought a smile when that gate agent labeled you as 'young man' as he scanned your boarding pass. If one wanted to fly LGB-DAL, wonder how many connections would be needed, seeing as how Dallas is your home. Somehow, the -700's seem cramped as compared to the -800's one of which I flew TUS-LAS-IAH last summer. Boarding outside is the best--warm SoCal breeze, the sound of the APU and the smell of jet fuel. With only 3 carriers serving LGB, there's no overcrowding issue--the new check-in facility looks nothing fancy.

I do have family in Oakland and Anaheim/Orange County. Their -700s are indeed much older and feel less spacious. As per DAL-LGB flights, there are non-stop flights, but not many. I hope your flights were good. 😊 Their check-in is just modern but there is no wow factor. I feel like they could have added another touch.

I fly this route frequently as I live in the Long Beach area (If only Alaska flew LGB-SFO!) and I flew the route this past April and also only a week or 2 after this was filmed!
