The A220 is a beautiful aircraft. I love the engine howling, when they are powered up on take off. I’ve never flown on Swiss, but would definitely hope to in the future. ✈️
I agree! I would say that the A220 is one of the most comfortable planes to fly short/medium-haul. Looking forward to my next trip with AirBaltic on this model! :)
Beautiful plane! _Love_ the adorable howling 'wookie' sounds it makes😊 _📢🎶🎵🎶_ 5:03 , 6:00 , 6:18 -> 6.22 , 7:13 . So cute & funny!😂 The sound is a phenomenon known as 'transient combustor tone', it is a result of flame propagation as thrust is advanced - it is a resonance of the engine core. Variable bleed valves opening and closing. The Pratt and Whitney TALON combustors cause harmonics when there are sudden pressure changes inside the combustion chamber, and the howling sound is because of the shape of those combustors.
Flew with Swiss from Belgrade to Geneva (via Zurich ofc) back in 2009 and from Belgrade to Barcelona (via ZH again) back in 2014. Swiss planes are amazing!! I would really like to fly on a Swiss A220!
Deployment of spoilers tell me we are almost there, A220 is such a beautiful aircraft, like how they announce the connections that are maybe a bit tight for passengers. KLM do the same, epic wing views on landing, crisp, clear precise and clean. Nice as always Lucas, thanks.
Thanks a lot, Andrew! Yep! hehe When spoilers are deployed means that we'll be landing in a few minutes! :D As you said, it's very useful when the cabin crew announces inflight the gates for the connecting flights. Iberia used to do it as well, but on my last flight they didn't... hope it was just an exception... Have a nice week :)
Great video! I read your video description. I’ve been on 2 Swiss flights (both this year) From Lisbon to Geneva and from Geneva to London. Both flights were on an A220. Oh btw.: At 2:50 you show 2 aircrafts going to Lisbon and Munich. The plane going to Munich is not an A321neo. It’s just an A320neo. Lufthansa’s A321neos are all based in Frankfurt.
Thanks a lot, Leander! Glad that you've enjoyed this video! :) I was close to fly on the A220 several times to Geneva... but at the end, it didn't happen. It is a mistake when editing. I wanted to put A321 & A320 NEO, but I put twice A321. Have a nice week!
Fantastic video. Beautiful airplane. You did everything right: the overview and full screen shots, nothing too long or too short. Although I like seeing the world from above, but the video would become too long I guess. Something special for me was that you also looked up into the sky, where it becomes dark blue. Something I also miss when I'm on the ground, and that's all the time right now.
beautiful flight report Lucas. I like very much the A220.It is such an elegant plane.Wonderful views from above although I prefer better when you have an engine view seat, especially with views of these magnificent new engines.Cheers buddy
Nice views and report as always!! I was wondering which gate you were arriving at and the helpful cabin crew member told me!! Stay safe in your travels.
I regularly fly Swiss between Belgrade and Manchester via Zurich so have experienced the A220 a few times. For some reason, in the many years (well over a decade) only on a couple of occasions have we left Belgrade on time (the kind of late which means a rush in Zurich, rather than the operational delay to prevent an early arrival). Generally, I do like the A220s - although in many decades of travelling, the only time my flight was cancelled due to issues with the aircraft was due to the grounding of the A220 fleet because of at least one aircraft suffering a catastrophic engine failure during flight - fortunately I was monitoring the incoming flight on Flightradar24 and noticed that although still displaying 'on time', it hadn't even left Zurich, so there was no way that I could make my connection! I managed to get myself re-routed back to the UK via Germany on a Lufthansa (Swiss's Parent company) flight which was just about to board before it was generally realised that Swiss were having major issues that day- many others were not so fortunate. I was so grateful to Swiss who made the change quickly, and even managed to get my luggage transferred! I noticed a mechanical ’whirring' on much of the video, but have never noticed it myself. Whether it is due to your microphones sensitivity, or that I have always been forward of the wing I do not know. Seeing this video, particularly the mention of the connection to Belgrade made me realise how much I miss flying and how I am so looking forward to doing so again.
The Bombardier C series is the best short haul plane on the market, Swiss solid as ever and Zurich my preferred airport in Europe. You captured it very well!
Very nice and soft fly, landing very good too; if i may ask you, there Is a noise starting after takeoff, i though It was landing gear, but it stays due to cruise level and starts again in landing approaches, landing and taxi runaeay, the sound Is like a gear stocked, i have never heard it before.
Thanks a lot, Mauro! I really don't know what is that noise... it happens in every A220 that I flew, so it was not something concerning only to this plane... hopefully someone with some knowledge o this plane will appear in the comments and I will be able to ask. I that happens, I will add the info on my next A220 trip report :)
Thanks mate. No, I can't say anything about that. I don't have any clue about the A220. I just can say that it happens in every A220 flight, so it's something normal.
