Railfanned the Black River & Western's Triple Header Train today I saw the 11am train in Flemington and switching, then filmed it again at the Toad Lane crossing.
Awesome video Adam! I liked the car locking up the brakes around the 3 minute mark, lol! Also liked the guy that said "yolo" and drove through Toad Lane, lol!
Thank you very much Mike, yup those are Western New Jersey drivers who think there time is better not spent at the railroad crossing waiting for the train.
Thank you for watching Bazis 98, yup I guess they couldn't see the train. That's the issue a 50 mph road and everyone thinks me first, this is just a stupid little train ohh wait I'm about to plow into it dam I gotta lock my brakes.. Everyone is in too much of a hurrry these flashers were already active for a while too.
I guess he never saw the train or the lights or heard the horn or the bells... I actually have another video of just the almost incident.. bit.ly/2f1Es5j
Thank you for watching Dante I know you are a crossing person and at 3:15 that car almost had a bad day. Really gates would be good there or grade separate if possible.
Thank you for watching Break-Van-Man, greetings from the Black River & Western.. Yup another one that either had to try to beat the train or simply not paying attention to the road thinking there is no such thing as a train is going to cross here.
At 3:17 I want to know what the guy in the black car doing that he did not hear the horn, bells, or see the flashing lights and oh yeah the Green locomotive. LOL
If it wasn't a huge locomotive, it would have been a school bus, pedestrians, or another car stopped in front of him going too fast / not paying attention..
Thank you for watching Thomas yup absolutely that's what is great about the area you can hear it coming, no other highways or industry nearby to drown out the noise of #60. BTW sorry for the late response sometimes notifications don't come through.
Thank you very much Nate those are older versions of crossing active lights for the train crew.. To alert the crew the crossing is function since they can't see the flashers blinking. Newer crossings especially on the Class 1 railroads they have tiny holes on the sides of the flasher fixtures which those alert the crew / engineer that the crossing is working.
Thank you very much Richard greetings from the Black River & Western Railroad. Yeah not paying attention, same people driving who are in a hurry / don't pay attention they fail to stop or slow down for pedestrians, stop signs, traffic lights, traffic cops, construction zones, school buses, ice cream trucks etc.. With that being said why stop for railroad crossings after all the train should yield to the driver, this just seems like how it is now, seems. Everyone is in a hurry they can't wait. In the beginning of the video while the flashers were active there was a lady beeping at someone who was in front of her at the crossing I guess she wanted them to go through the crossing so she can go through / not wait for the train.
3:18 that car almost creamed the train. I wished he would then he would have a big ass fine for attempting to run the signals and have to pay for the damages.
Yup going too fast, not paying attention to the flashers.. Too many people these days are just reckless drivers, red lights, stop signs, don't mean anything either..
@@Ih8kone umm it depends.. If running the signal and there happens to be caused an accident then yes big fines and suspension. If you just run the signal and a cop catches you no harm was done you get a fine +points it is a moving violation. IDK how many repeat offenses it would take for them to take your license away for 90 days. DWI DUI is a more serious offense than running traffic or RR signals.
ohh yeah that's another set of drivers, lol.. That's Route 12 / Parker Ave an extremely busy road and I think the speed limit way too fast for that area. The state I guess still sees no problem with that crossing but for these excursion trains I think that crossing should be turned into an overpass. Take a look at this video I filmed from last year's triple header excursion: bit.ly/2f1Es5j This road in part thanks to incompetent drivers is just a miracle there hasn't been a major train and car accident by now. The regular or normal excursion trains Black River typically does the crossing doesn't stay active the whole time usually. For these extra long consists the crossing stayed active for about 25min really confusing people.. Really the crossing should have been turned off or deactivated and flagged instead my opinion.. If the state can't install an overpass here then another solution should be move the run around track "passing siding" a few more yards further away from route 12 crossing, something should be done before something happens and claim it's the railroad's fault..
