Great video and impressive catches. The SIB looks like a good piece of kit. I have a 24 foot boat, bought mid-June and berthed in Douglas. After subscribing yesterday, have shared this video to my Facebook group. Looking forward to checking out more of your uploads. Cheers, Mark (Ripsaw)

Thanks Mark, really appreciate the share mate. Just spotted it in FB as I also follow your page. Boat fishing is the main topic of this channel but we did get out in Port Erin with a towable yesterday - great fun! Look forward to sharing my next adventure soon! Thanks again, Jason

Great video, Glad to see you use crushed barbs. I see a lot of videos were they don't crush the barbs and when they take the hook out there is blood all over the fishes mouth. Not good for the fish and not good to see it on the video.. You only need the anti fishing people to see it and they have more fuel to try and get fishing band. So once again well done and incidentally I put the last tope at around 50lb. Tope is my favourite fish to cash and I am of the Co. Donegal on the 7th August for a week Tope fishing. I am 80 years old but still love Tope fishing. Best of luck mate and I will watch more of your videos.

Great to hear from you - thanks so much for your comment, it means a lot. Pleased you enjoyed it. Tope at 80 is impressive! I hope you have a wonderful week.

This is my inexperienced, but the sea didn't look too rough in the video. Was it much worse in real life? Cheers and great vid.

Great video and im glad to see you catching tope in a sib i have a 6m humber rib so i should be safe enough thanks again
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
You'll be fine on your rib mate, and no doubt its make of heavier material than my sib. Just be mindful of where the hook is when pulling on board, and where their teeth are. Hence me clearing some deck space before even dropping down a bait. Good luck!

And the rods and reels in your description is all that is needed or do you use any other heavier equipment and what strength of line are you using thanks
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
Aye for tope then a 12-20lb boat rod like the Uglystik GX2 is ideal. Reel wise you have options, multiplier or fixed spool (5500 or 6500 sized) - Penn Spinfisher is a good fixed spool if you prefer - it has a live liner feature perfect for tope. 30lb main line, 100lb leader. 250lb hook length. 8/0 circle hook with barb crushed

I keep looking at sibs - the concern I have is what do you do when you hook it? Repair and inflate on the water or is it strong enough to not get punctured? Tight lines!
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
Hey buddy, a common misconception are sibs easily being punctured by hooks. They are surprisingly durable. You still need to be careful generally, but as you can see I take my sib fishing with confidence, as do many in the community. In truth I'd rather be afloat on a SIB or a RIB than a fibreglass hull. A sib cal be full of water and still float. Another youtuber deflated his tubes on the water as a test and they still float (its hard to get all the air out). Remember they don't 'pop', they slowly deflate down to a certain pressure. Go for it buddy!

With anchoring, what if your anchor gets stuck and you can't unhook it? happened to me in strong current, took me long time to unhook, I already was thinking to cut the rope. Any tricks or tips?
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle 2 месяца назад
Almost happened to me a couple times too. Easiest method is to have a weak link - a cable tie. In other words your chain attached to the wrong end of the anchor - upside down so it's easy to pull backward. The cable tie connects the chain to the correct end of your anchor. If you get stuck the cable tie breaks and your anchor gets pulled backwards. Failing that, very very very carefully maneuver around in a semi circle so you're upside and then pull it out that way. Idling, no revs whatever- dangerous!

Is that a dry suit youre wearimg?
@TheReelIsle

It certainly is, unless it's scorching I almost always wear it, especially when solo. It's the Typhoon Max B, about £650 - quality item.

Great video! I am of interest in the Carbon Pro sib it looks grand and seems to handle well.. Does it have any negatives at all? Also can you plz tell me your top speed with yourself and fishing gear and what HP is your tohatsu motor. Greatly appreciated thanks
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
Hi there, thank you. As with all boats there are positives and negatives, and selecting one is all about your compromises. For me, the negative is a lack of anything to hold on to while motoring from the stern - there's no grab handle or rope within reach. Instead I usually hold onto the bow rope, oar connector or if alone and travelling at higher speeds just sit on the floor for safety. The boat is very stable however and I'm also comfortable sitting without holding on other than the tiller. It could also do with some oar clips on the outside to keep them in position while trailering. The upsides: solid transom, nice bow position, planes well, affordable, stable, great fishing platform, no tube ropes to get hooks snagged in. I've a 15hp 4stroke, 9" prop (I had to drop down an inch for ideal RPMs), and solo with fishing gear get around 18mph flat out, although I have not yet had absolute glass conditions. Cruises well which is the most important factor vs top end speed. I paid full price for mine, not affiliated or receive kickbacks, but I did work with Boatworld to get a discount code for subscribers - use JCBW at checkout to add £50 free borika items or seat bags. Its a great boat - Enjoy!

@@TheReelIsle That's what you call a reply thank you Sir 👍 It sounds like this would be a perfect set up for me along with a 20-25hp motor to break that 20mph limit with an idea of reaching up to 25mph. It looks a big stable boat perfect for fishing in solo. I currently own an Excel Vanguard 335' with an 8hp getting speeds of 15/16 mph but it's a very poor handling boat unless I sit on the floor then it stables out. Anyways good luck' I shall subscribe 👍
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
I too had a Vanguard and likewise, hitting that speed the whole boat became unstable and dangerous. Hence my switch over to the Carbon. Enjoy the new boat, as someone who also made the switch youre considering, you'll be very happy with it - gave me my confidence back to sit on the benches, which the Vanguard took away from me after almost throwing me out.

Hi great video yet to get my carbon pro on the water due to the weather. Can I ask what pin setting you are using 3 or 2 on the engine
@TheReelIsle
@TheReelIsle Год назад
Hey mate, hope you get some decent weather to take it out soon! The trim pin setting is going to differ per engine, load, weight distribution and conditions on the day. Generally pin 1 to 3 would be the one to go for. If solo, probably trim pin 1. If 2 up with some fishing gear then perhaps pin 2.
