I used to work at a mega church but left because i couldn't get over the amount of money we wasted on lights and screens. Man, think of all the hungry people you could feed with the $10,000 you'd save if you just used 1 reasonably priced projector. I guarantee nobody in the congregation is coming to Jesus because you have a 45 ft wide screen.

Awesome end result! It all seems so complicated to set up...but is it that complicated? I am in the process of making a ~16x10 meter videowall using short throw (0.5 throw ratio) projectors. Do you have any pointers? The local specialists say I need 28.000 usd projectors (Epson PRO's with 12000 lumens), are they really necessary for making a video wall?
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 8 месяцев назад
We spent about $3,000 per projector. This video is a bit out of date now. Propresenter 7 lets you do this without needing the matrox. Short throw can be harder to align as there is typically less wiggle room but isn't impossible.

Thanks for the info... really helpful. I'm helping a church that just incorporated a 2-wide edge blend screen, and am having some issues getting it dialed in. It's a 7'x23' screen with two Eiki projectors. PPver7 with Edge Blend module. (not using multi-screen module with a Dual Head). Spent hours trying to get the blended area to line up, and not matter how much corner pining we adjusted, we still experienced ghosting of the letters that exist in the Blended area. The church had already had the setup going when I got involved, and the current Blend Space is set at 1054 in PP.... which seems a little wide for a 1920x1080 image with 2 projectors. I guess my question is, is it possible to get that center alignment perfect (with no ghosting in text and line graphics), or is just inherent in an edge blended setup to have that. It's a smaller room and the back half of the room can't see the ghosting, but the first 5-6 rows (where the pastor sits), you can see it, and they are really bumbed by it. Any advice would help, or even the chance to chat on the phone about it.

Chris Kuhne where are the projectors located in relation to the screen? For edge blended applications it’s best to have the projectors as level and parallel to the screen as possible. It’s really tough to make a clean blend with a lot keystone. I also recommend a standard to long throw lens as short throw lenses tend to warp at the edges.
@pc3chris
@pc3chris 4 года назад
Church Media Pro I didn’t install them, but they are really close to dead center with no keystone adjustment being done. I just feel like me overlap or “blend space” is too wide and it can’t get the extreme edges lined up right, but I don’t know exactly what needs adjustment. Just more trial and error I suppose.

Hey Aaron, I’m the new tech director for chapel (and a few other things) Huntington University. We are a Christian University and we have chapel 2x a week. We currently have two screen way out on the sides and then the band and speakers on center stage. My music director was wondering if we could use the cyclorama that we have as a screen to post lyrics and stuff. Your video almost exactly what I’m looking for. One big question for you is, “how far away did you set your projectors?”

Thanks for the video, it really is informative. We are exploring the idea of doing an extra widescreen. It will be 30' x 10'. Just wondering if you think we would need three projectors to accomplish this or could we do that with two? And can we accomplish this with nothing more than pro presenter?
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 3 года назад
TheRiverOf you can certainly do a 30 x 10 with two projectors, in fact I’ve done 30 x 10 with one projector, but it was a 20k Lumen 😅. Which version of ProPresenter are you using? We’re still using 6 which requires external hardware like a DualHead2Go, but I know it’s possible to do screen blending in 7 without external hardware.
@TheRiverOf

@@ChurchMediaPro thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it. We are using pp 7. We have a 7000 lumens, I wonder if I can use a single projector. Do you know if there is a mathematical formula that I can use that determines how many projectors I would need - at least in theory. I am using an epson g6800
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 3 года назад
TheRiverOf it depends on how much ambient light your have. I used 3 7k Lumen projectors for our 45 x 9ft screen and it was adequate for our windowless room. I’d recommend using at least two 7k projectors for a 30 x 10 especially if you have any windows in your auditorium.
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 3 года назад
Math is relative when 7k Lumen projectors aren’t the same. I’d recommend getting your projector(s) as close as you can to your screen as the I verse square law applies to projectors just like it does lights. There’s a exponential effect on brightness to distance.
@korbinpurchasemusic

Hey some of the numbers you mentioned could use some more explanation. You mention the resolution of your projectors are 3600 x 720. You then later said you landed on your final resolution by multiplying 1280 x 3. I understand why you multiplied by 3 since you have 3 projectors, what I don't understand is where the 1280 number came from. You then say "and made sure to leave room for edge blending the projectors" could you give a little more detail on how you sorted out the resolution with your edge blending? Thanks
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 4 года назад
Korbin Purchase happy to clarify. Our projectors are WXGA or 1280x800 native. Standard HD resolution is 1280x720 so I used 720 as my height and rounded the width to a number that made sense given that I wanted some overlap and a nice round aspect ratio for easy math when converting video to ultra wide. 5:1 made the most sense. We have a 50ft stage width. To make sure all the seats could see the screen at the back wall of our stage I outlined a 45 foot width then did some math to figure that we needed a 9 foot height. It’s not an exact science. Most UHD (4k) content is 3840x2160 so I knew I could use many available 4k motion backgrounds on such a wide canvas without stretching them. I guess the decision was made weighing all these factors and figuring out what made the most sense.
@korbinpurchasemusic
@korbinpurchasemusic 4 года назад
@@ChurchMediaPro Thanks. So how did you determine the amount of pixels in the overlap section of the edge blending?
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 4 года назад
Korbin Purchase I guess it was not something I needed to determine. From research I knew that a foot in physical space was enough and that the Edge Blending Module in ProPresenter would do the blending for me, in effect determining the amount of pixel overlap.
@korbinpurchasemusic
@korbinpurchasemusic 4 года назад
@@ChurchMediaPro So is there a setting I missed in your video where you tell ProPresentor the amount of blend in actual inches/feet ?
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 4 года назад
Korbin Purchase no, you just tell ProPresenter your overall canvas size in feet or pixels. You then adjust the blend mode radius etc. You then fix any issues in the blend by projecting the built in test pattern and adjust your projectors from there, zoom/tilt/keystone if needed.

Edwin Abreu it depends. For a screen that size you could use 1-3 projectors. What resolution are you trying to project in? How bright do you want/need the screen to be? Using multiple projectors can help you create a brighter screen or have a larger combined resolution. However, a single projector with an image mask could create a 16x5 image.

EDWIN ABREU we project with a base resolution of 1280x720 which is a standard for most large projectors. Our triple wide canvas is essentially 3600x720 pixels.

Thank you so much for your help on previous comments: Would you have any direction on a couple of questions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1. When developing media backgrounds for a two projector wide set-up. I am just clicking the "scale to fill" feature for backgrounds that were designed for 1920 x 1080. So when I use that feature it obviously crops the media file. This is not always the best look, but I am also running a lobby and streaming feed @ 1920 x 1080. So I am not sure if the "Scale to Fill" is the only option I have, or is there another solution that you do that would serve both needs. Are there media solutions that are specifically designed for extra wide? But if we went that kind of media - how do we bring a solution to the 1920 x 1080? 2. The other question I have is when sending out to our social media - I have it set up as chromakey look so that the media doesn't show up because we want to show the worship service with words at the bottom but don't want the media background. the problem I have is when I do want the media to show up on our Social Media feed, like the countdown, or a video during the sermon, how can I best accomplish that: To easily toggle when I want the media to show up or not?
@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 3 года назад
TheRiverOf question 1: We operate a second Propresenter computer for our 1920x1080 stream and lobby feeds. We create content specifically for our non standard auditorium screen. We sync the two using ProPresenters master/slave functionality.

@ChurchMediaPro
@ChurchMediaPro 4 года назад
Great question, David! Though typical HDMI won't work well over 50ft, we use 75 and 100ft HDMI cables with built in signal boosters. Like these: amzn.to/2YpKots When using these cables be sure to follow the directions on the cable as the signal will only travel in one direction. So to answer your questions, we come out of our TripleHead2Go DP edition with Display Port to HDMI adaptors, then insert voltage with three of these HDMI voltage inserters amzn.to/2DWY7i4 We run those off of a USB power hub like this amzn.to/2PivdhC

Rudy Mendoza you should be able to do this with most projectors as long as they are 3 of the same model. If they aren’t new you may see some brightness variance across your screen and the blend might not look right.
