I love seeing a fairly large church like this not feeling like they have to go all out with their tech. It's obviously great, but it looks like a fairly modest setup that supports their church well. So good.

Yes - church funds are a precious resource that can be used in the community far more effectively than stroking the egos of tech directors lusting for toys. Bravo to them for prioritizing the right things.

Being the A/V Director at our church, gives me a lot of hope for our church after watching this video. We are a mobile church, and trying to transition into a building at some point in the near further. We’ve been mobile going on 9years, and at 1 point had an actual production every Sunday morning. But due to covid, we lost alot of our volunteers that would help setup. But now, slowly but surly, slowly building our a/v team back up.

The Grove was mobile for 7 years. Some of those mobile components are still in use both in our auditorium and our youth group space. The team has done a great job honoring my request to be frugal as we are a family that has just moved into our first permanent home. Dustin Sams, XP The Grove Church.

I subscribed to Worship Ministry School for 1 month, and the courses were really practical and simple. When they talk about a plugin, they don't show us how to get it, whereas you show us everything, right up to offering us a complete ableton template. You take us by the hand and lead us to greener pastures. I was reminded that Worship Ministry School really does make a difference. Keep up the good work! Sorry for the mistakes, I'm French and I use Deepl

Very nice tech setup. We have a Behringer X32 as our main mixing console, with all the fader motors still working. We put a piece of gaff tape along the bottom of the console so that the paint would not get all scratched off.

I brought the concept of rechargeable batteries to our setup. We were spending a lot of $ .. the initial purchase of the batteries and charging units cost a little but overall we saved money. In a small church that can make a difference. I had a rotation so no one ever wound up with a low battery.

This was/is a very informative video. We are now raising money to build a new sanctuary. We are hoping NOT to barrow any money. It's a slow go. I'm overwhelmed with what this is going to cost. Once the building is built. Then the cost of technology is going to be a close rival. We probably need 2 million dollars. God help us!

Great tour. I see everyone using what they have to the best of their abilities. However, those batteries are killing me to see. We use the DeLeePow 3400mAH rechargeable batteries and get a full year out of them. I bought them because the name just sounds so cool, but they do work well. Saves a ton of money on batteries and these are being recharged weekly

@DocNo27
@DocNo27 11 месяцев назад
2x4 boxes filled with rock wool insulation and then just wrap with something that matches your venue's interior design used to be a very inexpensive and effective way to go, but rock wool has really gone up - but I still think it's the most cost effective way to go. Oh yeah, wrap in fire retardant fabric - it costs more but is worth it. You don't want a repeat of the station nightclub fire in your church!

Would it be possible to get a link or information on the zebra lights you guys mention? A quick google search only returns a few cheap rebranded Chinese lights and a bunch of unrelated sights and i'm almost positive that those aren't what you guys are talking about.

I don't get, what's the X32 for then if they have a Midas mixer ?
@Churchfront
@Churchfront 10 месяцев назад
They use the x32 backstage as an In-ear monitor mixer to have complete and separate EQ and compression settings and control of their mixes. This also allows them to not have to use any of the outputs from the Midas (FOH mixer) for IEMS. EQ and compression that sounds good for IEM mixes might not sound best for FOH applications. They are also using Waves at FOH and don't want to have vocal tuning effects in a vocalists in-ear monitors while they're singing, as this creates a phasing effect in the singer's IEMS.

Depends on the area and system, I’ve done shows where the system was perfect, it rained and the change in humidity made it to where we had to retune to get rid of some unwanted frequencies all in the matter of a few days. Sure not everyone needs to or wants to do it but I won’t harsh a dude for staying on top of it. It doesn’t cost anything but time if you know what you are doing and do it yourself.

Compared to many other 2000+ member churches, this is definitely a low budget setup. Having an experienced and knowledgable TD like Kyle definitely helps make it all work and sound/look the best it possibly can with already existing equipment (note the handmade acoustic treatment and the 10+ year old x32 mixer).
@TerenceKearns
@TerenceKearns 10 месяцев назад
@@Churchfront a church I volunteered at had maybe 300 people on any given day. They had a 32channel analog yamaha mixer. I showed the audio team how to mix through the 4 group busses so as to export virtual "stems" through an audio interface so could balance an alternative mix for the livestream feed via vmix. I have pictures. I ran it through Presonus Studio ONE for live mix monitoring and DSP then into vMix which was too clunky for audio. I used NDI vst plugin to send audio to vMix from studio one master channel. When I left, they ditched S1 and mixed audio stems with vMix. It worked alright but there was lots of improvements I didn't get a chance to make. we had 3 birddog PTZ cameras. I never liked the image quality that came out of them. Not good in low light. They would occasionally zoom/tilt randomly and suddenly frame stuttering started to happen one day and we could never solve it. For the same low budget, we could have had some blackmagic studio cams hooked up with SDI. That would have been good. I live more remotely now so I am churchless. Is what it is.
