I was pretty impressed with the Kailua too, so much so that I ordered a second pair. The treble is somewhere between the Olina and Mele, which was a good choice. They were incredibly comfortable, but I did need to go up a size on my tips. They don't need power, but seem to scale well when on a bigger amp, which is always the hope. I can confirm Mele was discontinued.
I absolutely have had the same experience with not being able to get a seal with most of my eartips, even among my go-to sets that almost always work on every other set. I def went thru similarly 25-30 different tips and I found a few that worked, a small handful really, and the best fitting ones are randomly an old set of Symbio foam/silicon hybrids tips in XL. I’m usually only a L and love Azla SednaFit XElastecs, Dunu S&S, Whizzer ET100, KBear 07 etc. Great review thru and thru and I found that you and I agreed on many of the main points you hit on here and I enjoyed your perspective on it all! @@mrcrunch8000 after more messing around with tips etc I think the outer bore diameter of the nozzle is too small coupled with the angle of the stem etc. I think the XL it-s have worked the best but it’s still not quite right.
If you are willing to get another cable, get a tripowin Zoe in balance. Running balanced really smoothed things out in the eargain and treble regions more tips or anything. The Zoe cable is only $20.

No, it did not come with a zonie cable. It doesn't really come with anything of note at all. As far as buying one, it kind of depends on what you are looking for. The fit seems to be hit or miss with people, and it can be intense without the right fit or tips. Because you seem to be collecting though, I would say go for it. It's worth having for the times you want detail and fun.
Idrk if i should go for this since i just got the Red in and I’m already upgrading to a balanced cable for that. This would be yet another iem that i would need to replace the cable for, not only because I want it balanced but because I think the stock cable sucks. Tuning and driver quality for the price tho…
I guess it kind of depends on how content you are. The red is certainly easier to work with and enjoyable with most stuff. Depending on what balanced cable you got, you may be able to use it with the kailua without issue. I ended up taking a razor to the stock cable and rounding the edges of the two pin housing. Doing that made it comfortable, so for me it's usable now. It measures good, it's just really thin and has a bit of that sticky rubber feeling. I actually like it for going out now. The real concern would probably be the tips. I've never had such a hard time finding tips that work. If you don't use large tips like I do, you'd probably have better luck though.
For me these are better but it's more down to the technicalities than tuning. The hexa does win with fit and comfort though. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with either.
For me this is better. The quartet isn't nearly as intense but I was getting a lot of sibilance and the bass was too much of a contrast for me. There's something weird in the treble that doesn't work with me.
Personally, I like the Kailua better. It's a more energetic sound with bigger and more detailed bass but the Olina se is the more balanced of the two. They are both good, but imo the Kailua edges it out in technicalities almost across the board. The Olina se plays well with just about everything though.
