Sir should I buy this ew200 as my first iem or should I go for any other iem i never used any iems in my life i only used wireless earbuds with anc is this better then them my main preference is to watching movies and tv shows please guide me sir
The ew200 is a leaner drier sound. The em6l is the fullest/warmest, the ew200 is the thinnest/brightest while the ea500 is somewhat of a middle ground. They are all good but after the Conch I don't see the ew200 being relevant. The Conch is too close in cost and to far away in quality and accessories.
If you're just mildly sensitive then yes. Compared to stuff like the timeless, s12, pr2, etc... they are much more tame in the treble. With that said, they still have some extra energy way up top. It's just much more controlled and dynamic like in the sibilance region making them nicer and more pleasant to use compared to most planar iems. They are still my favorite planar iem.
@@mrcrunch8000 any QC issues? I'm getting T3+ it's $70 And C3 I $50 here I can buy any of them Or I was planning to get audio Technica m40x headphones but these are too old Tried M20x they were garbage no bass thin sound
@@mrcrunch8000 I bought T3+ it sounds nothing special 7hz Salnotes zero mecha sounds much better way clearer and cleaner has better treble vocals etc Tried simgot EW200 it was worst sounding so dull
@Smzxe to each there own, I guess. They aren't even comparable imo but I guess it all depends on what matters to you. The technicalities aren't close between the two.
Congratulations on your persistence and for having a happy ending! Help me please. My dog chewed up my Tin T3+ and now I can't spend a lot of money (Brazil). Can the EW200 be a replacement? I want more detail in the vocals. There were times when I wished the T3+ had a little less bass.
Thank you, from the sounds of it the ew200 could be a very good option for you. The bass is a bit leaner but nice and punchy. It's very close technically, and the extra forwardness up top makes details more apparent. It's a clean and crisp sounding iem.
@@mrcrunch8000Thank you very much! I subscribed to your channel and will watch your videos. I'll follow your advice, I'll go with the EW200! Thanks again.
@marcrj6163 for some reason it didn't cross my mind when I replied but another good option is the TRN Conch. It's very affordable and imo a better set than the ew200. It's like a midway point between the t3+ and ew200. It's so close to the ea500 and is way better balanced than the ew200. The ew200 can be too aggressive at times but the Conch doesn't have that problem while still being very tight and detailed. It's one of my most used iems. It's what I use at work almost all the time.
The outer edges are 100% plastic. Maybe there's an ultra thin sheet of metal on the center of the lid, but I will leave that to you for a scratch test.
I prefer the T10 but I can see some liking the hexa better just for looks. As good as the T10 sounds it looks cheap. It is a sound above all set. With that said the cable is one of the best stock cables I have come across in a budget set.
@arvitexia meaning that if sound quality is the priority, then yes, it is the better set. The hexa looks and feels better built, excluding the cable. The Artti has a great cable, but the shell is ugly and cheap looking/feeling. It's all about the sound quality with the Artti.
I think TRN is just being honest, there's probably no reason to pay more than $50 for any item, no matter how good they are, unless they're made of gold encrusted with diamonds. The same thing happens with Apple products, they are expensive simply because of their status, people pay thousands of dollars for something whose real value is not even half of what they ask for, it is just marketing and simply stupid.
It depends what you are after. It's not abnormally power hungry, but like any capable iem or headphone, it does scale with better sources. Personally I'd recommend a decent dongle dac for any iem. However, if you are like me and break out an old ipod to enjoy at times you will really enjoy these and not feel like something is lacking. It's actually impressive how good these sound straight out of my old monochrome gen 5 ipod.
Now I think I understand why some reviews some people don't like the EW200. This kind of quality control issue will make the IEM sound bad. Is there an IEM brand seems to have better consistency in Quality?
hey michael thanks for the review do you recommend it to someone with a cx31993 dongle (abigail pro, jcally jm7, cx pro etc).or should i get the cca trio, cheap 3dd harmanish tuning getting good reviews, this is the one that i want to get, but if the t10 sounds good with a dongle then is hard to pass on it for 50 dollars.
Unfortunatelly in my case, no matter what I do, my firmware upgrade always fails once it reaches 10% (I`ve also tried to upgrade from 1.09 to 1.10 before upgrading to 1.12, but the outcome is the same)...reached their support and their reply was "use another computer and try again..."
It was also on Windows 7 and usb 2.0, I did the same on Windows 10 and usb 3.0, everything worked out (I think it's about the usb port), maybe this will help you.
Yes and no. Overall, they are a bit less using the red ring nozzle, but they do have a peak around 8k that can be annoying for some. They are a very similar sound so I don't know if it's a good option for someone who doesn't like the ea500 or ew200.
Since you said you have issue with the T-Tips even with L size which also an issue of mine, (i hope they will add XL size because i like the tips) we probably have (kind of) same ear openings.. i found that my most used eartips comes from Truthear Hola.. the largest one (wide bore). So based on your reviews about Conch, i think i can safely put my money on it. However, i am curious about what devices(especially DAC if any) have you tested Conch with.. And will any of those devices changes Conch's sound signature..
I tested on a lot of stuff. Not counting the desktop stuff I used the hiby fc4, truthear shio, fiio ka2, tempotec sonata hd v and a couple others I can't think of at the moment. I also used an old panasonic mini stereo, sony home theater reciever/disc changer and an old old Sony portable cd player. It sounded good on everything but imo sounded best with warm stuff like the truthear shio. It also benefits a lot from balanced with the portable dac/amps.
TRN=Simgot The EW200 Shell looks similar My Ew200 sound was horrible dull sound no clarity trash recessed treble no details and muddy bass quality control issues Driver flex and Imbalance in right earbud driver The cheaper 7hz Salnotes Zero sounded 10x times clearer wider and had better more satisfying bass
That's odd.. Just recently received my EW200.. BUT along with 7Hz Zero 2 instead. EW200 is an easy recommendation in my opinion over Zero 2.. i can hear at least a bit more DETAILS compared to quite a few of my IEMs such as KZ ZVX / D-Fi / EDX Pro / Moodrop Chu / Kiwi Ears Cadenza..
@@Smzxe Hey, i am here for conversation, i am not attacking you whatsoever. So i do not appreciate you saying i am lying, i can respect everyone has SUBJECTIVELY different hearing from one to another. And i said about Zero 2 not Zero the OG..
@@faisalfirdausiinn4708 chill 🤣 I thought you said og Zero Do your ew200 have crackling sound like driver flex issues? My unit had that and low sound on right driver
@@Smzxe Firstly, i do not really understand DRIVER FLEX properly, but since you said about crackling, i can relate that to my (faulty and returned) ZVX. Still on ZVX, they were balance but with crackling sound SOMETIMES RANDOMLY(not all the time). If that is what you mean, i have not experienced that on my EW200. However, considering the LOW OHM reported spec of EW200(i suppose 16 ohm), i can agree it sounded pretty low but pretty much balanced on both channel. Back to ZVX, i bought again after returning it, it was fine.
thank for the review and happy new year. question, whats the difference in sound signature between the ew200 and ea500, you see people split them apart like they are 2 different sounds when they graph so close?glad you like the conch i have them too and i really like them got them for 13 dollars 11.11(discounts,store coupons, first time purchase on ali plus the ali game).
Wow, that's a crazy deal. The EW200 and EA500 do sound very similar and share many of the same traits. It's very clear in listening that they are related. The differences mainly come down to things like sound stage, separation and resolution. Imo the EA500 does all of those things better. There's also a difference in bass and tonality. The EW200's tonality is pretty good until you start swapping between it and the EA500. It's a bit thinner sounding in the vocals and sounds less natural as a result. The EW200 on the other hand is a bit more impactful with the bass but sacrafices some of the body of it. Still, they are very similar and pretty much anyone that likes one will like the other.
@@mrcrunch8000Rather than buying MOONDROP Spring tips separately, just buy MOONDROP Chu (the OG). it is included in the package.. Since i have both Moondrop Spring Tip and TRN T-Tips, though i agree Spring Tips APPEARS to be BIGGER than T-Tips, T-Tips seem to me have the LARGER DIAMETER with shorter stem. Whereas Spring Tips are LONGER STEM, with smaller diameter. Between both, i used T-Tips more frequently since i can't get proper seal with Spring Tips most of the time. With that being said, Wide Boar tips from Truthear Hola gives me the best seal.
I have all three as well. The Conch is an excellent value but I still think the EA500 is better. They are very close to the EW200. All three are winners! Money well spent! Enjoyed your review! Happy New Year!
I can certainly understand that although in regards to the EW200 they aren't close with the sets I have. There's a noticeable detail and tonality gap swapping back and forth with my sets.
@@marksr12 the simgots use a two pin and the trn uses a qdc connector so I don't use the same cable on all three. I used the multiple different balanced cables during my use with the simgots. They all measure and sound the same. They also measure the same and sound the same. I've never heard a difference from a cable unless there was an impedance difference between them. same with all my headphones. There is a noticeable difference going from single ended to balanced with all of them.
Perception of sound is somewhat psychological, having a previous bias as you enjoyed the ea500 and know what you spent can make them sound better. This is not conscious.
I am quite surprised by the build quality and accessories that TRN Conch came with. Definitely one of the top budget releases of 2023. PS: I think you meant "fair" in your title?
It could be. I only have a sample size of one but the crooked connector on the cable makes me think it is possible. I know I had qc issues with the EW200 so I'm sure it could be an issue here as well. With that said, my set has really good tolerances and I can't say I have seen many complaints yet.
@@mrcrunch8000 my EW 200 also had QC issues the right driver has low sound and both drives have driver flex That's absolutely trash Cable and metal build quality best things about EW200 It sounds so average dull and lacking upper treble bass is muddier Even KZ EDX Ultra sounds better 7hz Salnotes Zero mecha sounds so much better You only noticed more difference in TRN because it's treble is boosted And you felt more difference in soundstage etc due to more treble this is why TRN conch sounded better EW200 lacks upper treble it sucks it sounds just average there's nothing special
@Smzxe unfortunately the treble has nothing to do with soundstage and why I get a better/wider experience from the Conch. If treble mattered for soundstage, those kz planars would be some of the widest sounding iems ever. They are anything but that. It would also mean the ew200 should have a similar soundstage which it doesn't. It's only the peak around 8k that is eleveted over things like the ew200 and ea500. The Conch's most impressive detail retrieval actually happens in the midrange.
@@mrcrunch8000 soundstage is just the upper treble past 10k that literally makes you feel the sound is wider conch has less bass so even more soundstage And EW200 should have more bass than trn Same with 7hz salnotes zero it's upper treble is elevated it sounds much clearer wider Also the mids in 7hz zero is forward
I wish I had at least a couple months with it so I could give a better answer, but I would imagine it would be durable. My only real concern would be the cable. I've had no issues with mine, but mine came bent at the connector and I worry that may be a point of failure.
It's very comparable. Going back and forth I find myself thinking the Conch does it better because its soundstage is a little wider. Given the song, they can swap back and forth though. It's more EA500 in every way than it is EW200.
Don't buy trn Simgot 7hz Salnotes Zero mecha is wayy better than these I have EW200 it sounds so trash dull muddy and has no treble extension at all 7hz Zero sounds way clearer wider and has best treble clarity the mecha version EA500 isn't anything special it's worse than EW200
Same, I bought them for the cable and the hope of using the nozzles with the EA500. I had no idea $35 could provide this sound, let alone this sound with the included accessories.
Unfortunately I don't have the Dawn Pro. If I'm not mistaken it has the same power output as the Truthear Shio but also the KA2. My only concern would be the characteristics of the Dawn Pro because it uses the same dac chips as the KA2 and not the Shio. If it leans warm like the Shio I would think you would be more than happy but if it leans bright like the KA2 then maybe not unless you want analytical detail over body and bass impact.
@jelqingmybwc It's slightly more difficult to drive, but it seems much less dependent on source. It's also more analytical sounding by comparison and doesn't have the midbass body the T10 has. It also still has the potential to be a bit aggressive in some of the treble spots that the T10 seems to have resolved. I still love the Dioko though. Power and good tips gives it a great quality sound if you want flat, smooth, detail and can handle the imo minor treble peaks. I find them both to be in the same tier much like the other options like the s12/pro and all the others using the similar if not the same driver.
Thank you! They do but they seem to be very dependent on the source. Not enough power or a bright source takes a lot of the fun away. It seems to take a good fit and a good amount of power to get the bass going and being impactful with a dynamic driver characteristic.
wow I just change my order from Fiio KA3 to this because my reason that it is not plug and play on windows, just waiting for this to be delivered. I already downloaded the firmware files. now I am more excited!
from now on i will write a reference link of this video of "Michael Hatch" on Hiby Fc4 to every other video/review of Hiby Fc4 so that people can watch + read comments and benefit from "Michael Hatch"❤🙏
this "Michael Hatch" IS A GREAT GUY. BENEFITED A LOT FROM HIS VIDEO. BEST REVIEWER FOR ME AS OF NOW! : -) Michael Hatch HELPED ME TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX MY GARBAGE (HORRIBLE SOUNDING) HIBY FC4 WHICH I THOUGHT WAS DEFECTIVE. no one else is aware and /or talking about the subject. they r reviewing hiby fc4 and concluding: "a gerat dongle" how can an out of factory (software-)defective dongle sounding wierd can be great? ......... ı learned that all new version hiby fc4 s with "....19"chip r like this from his video(old versions/produced before 2023 were with "....18"chip) THEN I LEARNED THAT IT CAN BE FIXED WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE FROM HIS COMMENTS. AND DID IT AND NOW I HAVE A GREAT SOUNDING DONGLE : -)
Thank you. Idk why I just now got notified of this comment but I appreciate it very much. Thank you for saying what I have been thinking in regards to reviews of the FC4. I honestly wondered what was going on with some of those. lol. Again, thank you
Thank you for the kind words. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with how long my videos are. I'm also not as active as I'd like to be so I imagine that doesn't help. I hope once I get more free time to commit to making better content things will grow. Until then, I'm just happy people like you find my channel. Thank you!
I updated it right after seeing you comment. The tool provided with the v1.12 update actually worked, and it seems to have fixed all the remaining minor issues I had with the FC4. RU-vid finally works perfectly, and that initial pop seems to be gone. From my short use with it after the update it seems to be perfect now.
Didn’t work on mine. It’s 9219 and think it’s on 1.08 fw. It fails the 1.12 fw. Also on iPhone 3 pro maxx if you get to 50% or below battery it won’t power it. Also the balanced 4.4 output is mono. Someone on Amazon mentioned this and a simple right/left RU-vid test confirms this.
