The longer the hoof, the more needs taking off. Brahman beef are pretty tough, but hooves grow long like that because of being on soft ground and not doing much walking on hard ground to wear the hooves naturally
That was a Job! When that get that long it takes forever to trim them down. I bet you are so grateful for that grinder. Imagine how long that would have taken with a rasp and nippers?!
I’m a layperson when it comes to cattle outside of the standard beef and dairy breeds here in the southeast U.S., and I’m just curious as to what breed of cattle this is? I’m just wondering because the hooves on this animal look really hard all the way through, and doesn’t seem to have the softer horn inside of the white line and harder outside the line, or is it just from the drier environment there? Either way, ol’ boy on that knife sure is running through that hard horn pretty darn well. Thanks for the video. God Bless.
why don’t you use the sander to shorten the length of the hoof instead of the snipers (you start with) like you do to flatten the bottom of the hoof? I enjoy your videos
As bad as these animals are, they might be doing it in stages. Getting the worst of the excess off on the first trim and then getting the hoof back to a normal state over the course of several trims. Most hoof trimming videos you see are of animals who get trimmed regularly. These people deal with animals who have been abused and neglected.
