Bella Mandanis So Heidi May have been singing as a soprano as herself and Emma may have been singing as an alto as herself. But when their characters switch bodies suddenly Emma sings the soprano parts and Heidi sings the alto parts. I think this is true!
Heidi was so good in this they got her for Disney channel original movie...cause honestly she just kills this role. Her talent knows no bounds. Also it was her first time on film/tv so good for her!
This stage version is even better than the film. I love how it showcased the acting and singing talents of the two leads- and love the energy and momentum in the production! Bravo!
And now I have “Go Tonight” from ‘the Mad Ones’ stuck in my head because I’ve been listening to that on loop for 5 hours a day. Great, now I have to listen to it again and cry.
Go is so, so good for no reason. It could have been done without a kid performing a musical number on a hoverboard, but its too good for that. Its kinda a masterpiece.
I love how calm everyone just watches Ellie and Katherine transform back and have their lovely duet while still waiting for the wedding to happen. Like, it is totally normAl for that to happen.
Within the first 20 minutes of this musical there were so many small things that got cut from the Disney channel original movie freaky Friday based on this musical

YES! I am a huge fan of the book and even though a lot of changes were made from the source material, I feel like the musical has the strongest emotional core of every adaptation of this story I've seen. I could listen to "No More Fear" a thousand times and still find it beautiful and inspiring.
Katy TerBerg True! Also the songs are really deep and show both sides of the parent and the child. "Busted", "Someone Has To Take The Blame, and "Parents Lie" show those deep themes and that's what I really loved about this adaptation.
I knew one of the wedding preps/school counselor/police officer/ pastor looked and sounded similar... so I did a little digging and I found out it's Jason Williams (Jeremy's dad/Mr Reyes in be more chill!!)
actually this one is lower than the cast album, this one is an E flat 5 and in the recording she hits an A flat 5 flawlessly, but yeah this is just so her amazing voice didn't die out :)
"Go" is an absolute masterpiece. Dang. So good. The score is so cohesive. It's a shame the staging wasn't so much. Still got me hype for the movie musical adaptation.
They filmed it with new actors (except Katherine, she is the same amazing actress). It will have most of the songs, and is not just a recording. It's a full movie.
I've been blessed and challenged with the role of Katherine for my high school's performance of this. No way I can live up to Heidi's performance of this but I definitely take most of my inspiration from her!! Her vocals are AMAZING and she is SO INVOLVED in her character it's just amazing..
PSA for all the idiots in the comment section!!! 1. This is Freaky Friday the Musical. The video is only titled Trippy Thursday the musical because the person that posted it doesn't want RU-vid to find it and take it down due to copyright laws. This is a common theme for musical theatre bootlegs so there is no need to question or correct it in the comment section. EVERYONE KNOWS. 2. The Disney Channel movie adaption of this musical came AFTER this stage production of the musical. Not the other way around. Also, yes the mother is played by Heidi Blickenstaff in both. Freaky Friday was first a book, then a movie, then the movie was remade, then the stage musical, then the movie musical. Also, lots of things were changed in the movie musical due to the fact that it aired on Disney Channel and they didn't want to use some risque jokes/scenes that might upset the parents of the intended audience for the movie. 3. The quality of this video is shit, but you don't have to point it out, everyone knows this. Bootlegs are illegal so the person that recorded this did so secretly and illegally and could not do a good job because of it. Just be grateful that this video exists and that the only Freaky Friday musical that we have to watch isn't the Disney one, as, like I mentioned before, lots of things were changed/taken out that were actually quite good.
Don't know why people were being rude in the replies to you I know some people would be confused I was yesterday when I found out that there was actually a musical!
Jacob gamer 2000 I’m playing Ellie in the one act edition, and it says in the stage directions, “Mike & Fletcher play around with the hourglass, but Katherine & Ellie quickly snatch it away. No need to go there!”
Jaime Monte I can see it like Fletcher and Mike are fighting with the hourglass. Ellie and Katherine run over to them grabbing the hourglass and trying to pull it away it lights up and they all pose at 9:50 and it will be like "(The End?").
My favorite part is how they change harmonies when they switch back it’s super cool to listen to and it shows the attention to detail that went into this. Really though this show shouldn’t have been as good as it is. I was expecting it to be terrible but it’s actually not bad at all.

Doing this musical for school this year was so much fun, meeting Heidi via Zoom meeting was so much fun. She's so funny and talented; I enjoyed being able to learn more about the production of Freaky Friday and know its history. I love this show more than words can describe. Being able to see the original performance on RU-vid makes me happy, too. Everyone is so talented and I'm so glad I got to be, although only somewhat, a part of it all. Freaky Friday had seemed like such a fad when I first started. I truly never thought I'd ever truly come to enjoy it, but I've fallen so deeply in love with the music and characters.
Can't wait to see this on Disney channel, But watching this I already know that some parts are going to be taken out 😢. It's such a great musical the way it is.
I know! I wonder which songs are going to make it in. The preview already shows that "Somebody Has Got to Take the Blame" is gone. I have confidence, though. I think Disney Channel can do it justice.
Elie wasn't two seconds over in gym. She started over at 57:16 and ended at 57:47. She finished the challenge in about 30 seconds and was well under a minute.
Omg. As a kid reading the book and watching the movies, I totally sympathized with the kid more. But now I find myself sympathizing more with the adult... 😱 What has happened??? Lol
I didn’t intend to get back into this fandom, but I recognised Emma Hunton’s name when listening to a musical called “The Mad Ones” (which is AMAZING and highly underrated) and it dragged me back to this.
I saw this in DC and in San Diego and it’s honestly my favorite show ever. Every single choice, every beat, every choreographed move, etc... the list goes on. Heidi is a SHOWSTOPPER. ✨ I could talk about this show all day and this comment section makes me feel a little more sane. Ha!
im probably wrong but im getting freaky friday vibes, i have just seen six minutes but its just as the beggining of freaky friday like bruh .-. please dont come @ me GUYS JUST REALIZED IT IS HOW COUDNT I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE
When all you can do after watching that adaptation of this as a DCOM is say why this is better and why in the world did harmless things have to change for the adaptation (why is Fletcher a magician instead of a ventriloquist for example). I'm so happy this is here so I can see the superior version of this musical. Thank you so much for uploading it.
Michael Griswold I think Fletcher being a magician works than doing puppets. Perhaps the late father could have owned a magic store, and Fletcher is trying to become one.
