As a 16 year old metal head in 1987 pandemonium blew me away, Rex Irae being my standout track, 2020 as a 49 year old metal head listening to this beautiful performance is simply outstanding.
I literally cannot believe i've waited 33 years to hear this. Absolutely incredible, note-perfect, even capturing the '87 guitar sound and those off-kilter guitar solos. This song ruled the summer of '87 for me. After Pandemonium, i was primed for Alternative Metal: King's X, Warrior Soul, Mordred, Bathory, Living Colour, Jane's Addiction, Nirvana... that album and this song opened the gates. Momentous.
@@maniaque37 not fair . look at the complexity of this. of course its not going to be 100% like the original. but it sounds very good and strong. played very close note for note too. and no band (except Rush maybe??) sounds the same live as on record
Flawless, that’s the best metal + orchestra I’ve ever heard and the opera vocal is unbelievable. I met Tom on the Pandemonium in Birmingham when they toured with Kreator a life time ago, can’t believe he’s still turning out masterful performances like this / immense
@@LordVulcan93 I’m also an American fan since I was 15. I saw Celtic Frost at a tiny club in Connecticut in 1986 with Voivod… none of my friend understood my love of that band. After all of these years, revealing Tom’s extensive catalogue of mind and genre bending music, I am vindicated.
I was there, and honestly, it sounds a lot better here to me. It was mixed and mastered professionally afterwards of course. Getting the mix right on the spot as it's happening must have been very hard, so I don't blame them.
This is the most sophisticated a Black Metal band has ever got ... anytime, anywhere ... just ... pure ... excellence ! The theatrical trade offs between the two vocalists are otherwordly , hell yeah !!!!!
Triptykon seems to have given a lot of emphasis on the orchestral elements to give these songs a bigger sound for the live setting. While it may have taken away a lot of the darker elements of the studio versions, I still really like this
Cool picture. The vocalist Safa Heraghi also did the female vocals for the 3rd disc of Triangle: The Supernal Clear Light of the Void. Another interesting fact, the drums and percussion for Triangle were recorded at Woodshed Studio that is owned by V. Santura. The mixing and mastering also took place there.
Outstanding performance by the orchestra and from Triptykon, from the actual atmosphere to the mixing, unbelievably Grandiose. This comment section is just full of close-minded, and uninformed people... Really sad. This is a project that started in 87 with "Into the Pandemonium". Of course this dont sound exactly like the usual Triptykon or Celtic Frost (Even though I can see that all over the place), it's a REQUIEM, a musical composition, so thats why the use of the orchestra and the beautiful choir.
I guess we found some of the people who never listened to Celtic frost in the comments. Rex irae was ahead of its time in 1987. As for this live performance, it’s ok of course it wasn’t going to be as dark as Triptykon since that music concept wasn’t even formed until monotheist came out in 2006. Tom G. Warrior wanted to finish this project for Martin Eric Ain. Seeing this only makes me excited for the new Triptykon album, hoping for a 2021 release.
This is euphoric! Ever since I first heard this in '87 I have wished to see Celtic Frost do the entire Pandemonium album live w/ an orchestra, and especially Rex Irae. Into the Pandemonium will always be for me one of the most important metal albums of all time. Love Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion, of course, but this was groundbreaking, both sonically and thematically, paving the way for sooooo much that came after it. The dark languishing and melancholic moods are expressed beautifully. This is art. There are depths here most would never traverse. I absorbed this album for months after it was released. And I still return to it time and time again. Thank you
Tom,we grew up listening to your music, the mystery, the poetry in lyrics, the heavy dark feeling, the genuine artistic inspiration and expression, the originality, you were always ahead of your time and you still are one of the few remaining poets of metal in my book,a true artist, this version of this amazing song is incredible and i feel the need to thank you once more for speaking right into my heart and also for keeping the flame alive.
You have joined your father's feast Those who saw essence or fall Floods of dramatic silence And words, from whom we don't know Let me dream Flee from false I have tasted the weight of lust My hands on the skein of height A pallid death Mirage into dark The horizons echo your glance Following a detractive sleep I am the wrath beneath the heavens The downfall's monologue Fallen into the vision of effect Quiet as gods can be (Joining the king's words) Orgies of fear Inbreeding and death I have walked Carthaginian's sands I've touched those buried walls I am the All mortal is love? Wow!, I didn't know this video existed. I've been a fan of CF since Morbid Tales was released. Between Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, & Into The Pandemonium (released within three years of eachother!), it broke so many barriers and rules. Totally unique and intriguing. Great performance! I remember reading a CF article back in the days of To Mega or Pandemonium and Tom spoke of the plan for future albums that sounded very exciting. Of course they took a detour instead shortly after, from apparent pressures from their label. Unfortunate. They are the only artist like this that i still listen to from the 80s. Excuse me while i watch the performance again!
No volume level on any home system could do justice to the enormity of this beautiful racket. I can imagine being immersed in it, feeling the bass drum in my diaphragm, the instant flash of pain you soon get used to during sound check, the majesty of the combined voices. Amazing. ... god I miss gigs... 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
Into the Pandemonium, ich war am ausflippen. The gods an originators of new Avantgarde Metal.....und es folgte das Warten.Und das zahlt sich im Leben aus.Meinen aller tiefsten Respekt vor dieser einmaligen Lebensleistung
I, honestly, do not believe that I am worthy of playing music after hearing that. I ... um ... except for hearing the other parts ot the Requiem. Winter, and Grave Eternal. I take back any, all things, that I have EVER said about Cold Lake and selling out and any of that. 100 percent. Tom Warrior, THANK YOU!! This...THIS. IS. MUSIC.
Breathtakingly moving and mesmerizing. BTW, all the REQUIEM is an astonishingly organic, vigorous and ultimately beautiful fusion between heavy metal and symphonic orchestration, all the more surprising because this kind of thing is almost always bound to catastrophic results. Mr. Tom G. Warrior really hits the spot here, very good stuff, sometimes echoing things like Mahler, Univers Zero, Magma, Pink Floyd circa AHM and obviously all kinds of goth music.
The first thing I thought of after watching Gojira’s incredible performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony yesterday. My favorite CF song since it blew me away when it originally came out. Never saw this version before! So cool to see it live with a full orchestra. Incredible!
@@beerdrinker1486 Yes, this is her. She has an amazing voice and I loved that she added some rasp at the end there, sounded great. I like Triptykon's usual collab (Simone Vollenweider) but Safa brings more diversity and power to their sound. I'd loose my shit if she'd feature on the new LP. Check out her feature in Dark Fortress' song On Fever's Wings
Bought Roadburn and flight tickets the minute after the announcement appeared on my FB page because I would have felt like a failed metalhead not to attend this after 35 years of worshipping Hellhammer, Celtic Frost and Triptykon. Epic performance, tinged with a slight sadness because this came to be because of Martin Eric Ain's death.
actually i liked whole album in to the pandemonium! i remember when my friends dont like pandemonium album maybe it was too kind of art album after megatherion album but this song was head of a time ! and its still is to me celtic frost was one of greatest bands in my youth
the original celtic frost song is much better. we need new material. triptykon if u dont have better to offer , it better die like celtic frost. this album is also very short and if there was a bunch of more songs would be interesting but not the way it is. the female vocals was much better back then too. this girl dont go as up in tones. simone vollenweider was much better. it removes all the fun. still cool to see something done by triptykon but needs more.
@@DerOhlsen thats your opinion but i have mine also and u dont have to agree but i have my point. tom still bring old celtic frost material to his new band and i will never understand why he left celtic frost back then. triptykon is just a cheap version of celtic frost. this album is a joke. only a few songs and some old material. its garbage to me. if you like it , good for you. you are not a real celtic frost fan for sure because this band dont even come close to it and even less with this crap album.
@@DerOhlsen your comment describes yourself more than me. if all you have to say to defend your point or to say someone is wrong is only a few worthless words and some personal attacks , it shows well that you dont have much to say and have no argument. this is more like a four year old to me. its easy to say you are wrong or you are right but this dont say much. if thats all you have to say , better shut up.
QUE EMOCION ESCUCHAR ESTE TEMA DESPUES DE TANTO TIEMPO MAESTRO, ME PONIA LOS PELOS DE PUNTA EN AQUELLOS AÑOS, LASTIMA NO SEA BAJO CELTIC FROST TU GRATO NOMBRE....
I've loved this cd from day one 1987 17 years old major influence on my life and new understanding of deeper thoughtful music ,thank you Tom G and your female singer deserves so much praise she and you are perfect contrasts you'll be forever a musical hero of mine thank you.
