Wow. I've watched several rules explanations for this game, didn't click with me. Now it does. It is still overtly complicated but way less intimidating. Thanks for all the hard work that this should have taken.

This is one of the reasons why we like JGG! His explanations are succinct and the way he showcases what that actually means at the table, is fantastic!

@@rainerahlfors I've bought numerous Board & Dice games based on Jon's playthroughs, including this one which arrives Friday! :-)

I thought this game was very complex when I first saw it but your video explained how neatly all the moving parts fit together. I've always loved the theme of alchemy in a game given it typically involves 'making' stuff which is nice. Excellent work on the video as always.

Amazing explanation! You’ve help take away a lot of the anxiety and confusion out of learning this game, especially after reading such a crappy instructions book. Thank you!!!

2:22 you mention playing as the purple player when that's clearly pink 😉 great stuff as usual.

Nice to see this get more coverage. Had it for a few months now, and we really enjoy it. Solo mode is tough, too. Flagging this video to watch later :)

I find the solo mode very easy. Tried everything to make it harder and can't get it to go past 130 pt. Love the game though. I have decided to use the solo as a way to see if I can beat my own highest score.

The tutorial and extended playthrough as well suggest that you can transmute multiple materials only if they follow same path which don't seem to be true according to the rulebook. The rulebook say that you can transmute following different paths as long as the end material is the same. So you can transmute both raw and refined copper in the same turn - they follow different paths but ends with the same material.

Huh, I see what you are saying. The rules state you must use the "exact same arrow" which is who I played, but then after that in parenthesis it says you can use raw or refined versions. I didn't notice the parenthesis part which seems to counteract the "exact" from the main part of the rule. This video was watched by the publisher before it was posted and they didn't catch this either. I'll add a note to this tutorial in the Klingon subtitles, thanks for pointing it out.

@@JonGetsGames actually it is far much better explained in the polish version of the rules which I used that didn't focused on paths or arrows but simply explained that the end substance must be the same :) I can see that it can be much more confusing in English version which I just read also

Great Video John. Thanks. 1Q. When you unlock a formula, can you place it wherever you want in the vault ? Or is there any special rules as to where you place em ??

09:47 - the artifact seems to let you take a refined copper (square icon) or a non-refined tin (circular icon) - isnt it? Thus you wouldnt get a refined tin.
@JonGetsGames
@JonGetsGames 4 года назад
For some reason the square around the Tin does look like a circle sometimes, you aren't the first person to comment on this. It is in fact a square shape around Tin on that artifact though.

The rulebook states the game comes with 16 dice(6 white, 5 red, 5 black), disregarding the extra red and black dice(18 total). The rules state in a 2-player game, you remove 1 red and 1 black die. How is it that you have different amounts of black(5) and red(4) dice in this 2-player tutorial?
@JonGetsGames
@JonGetsGames 3 года назад
I believe there was an error in the rulebook relating to dice amounts. This sounds familiar to me anyway and I think the way I did it was correct.
@thelastmotel
@thelastmotel 4 года назад
At around the 24 minute mark, you are explaining getting the tokens at the top... Yes, you do spend gold to gain the second token in each section HOWEVER the total is 6 (1+2+3) and not 10, as you cannot gain all 8 tokens, as there is only room for 7 tokens in the vault.
@JonGetsGames
@JonGetsGames 4 года назад
I see what you are saying, but it's possible to get to a full vault of 7 in two ways. One is as you say by spending gold 3 times plus completing 4 different experiement colors. The other is spending gold 4 times (which would be 10 gold total) while only completing experiments from 3 different colors.

I have never typed these words before: I wouldn't have been able to play this game if your video didn't exist. Emphasis on the yellow experiment slot being for black cards, or even what determined the 'proper' column to slot a finished experiment into. Ugh. Lovely design, but clunky and riddled with little issues.
