Make sure you change useplatformclock = false in bcdedit. Open cmd with administrator rights, type "bcdedit /set useplatformclock false" without quotes. The ROG Zenith Extreme comes with Ai Suite 3 which turns useplatformclock to True. This causes Threadripper to have some nasty lag and performance hiccups It doesn't play well with Useplatformclock set to true. Turning it off (false) also decreases boot time. Also some of the boards ship with old firmware for the OLED display and Aura. For a while, after the October Bios release, mine would only display red colors and OLED would not respond to changes in the livedash program. Got the latest firmware and Bios from December installed resolving all issues last week. The 4GHz profile made by ASUS causes issues for me with useplatformclock set to false. just manually changing the multiplier itself, though, worked flawlessly. From a fellow ROG Zenith Extreme/1950X Owner. I was able to OC my system to 4.1 GHz stable but I haven't played around with voltage yet to see if it will go any higher. I'm content with 4.1...
Please I need to know... what is the name of the beautiful music that starts at 11:30 every time I shazam it I get different songs.. all of them pretty similar but none the actual song and everyone of them by different people.
lol ltt uses allot of hexagons, and he used to love an old case of his that had curved edges front and back (this one is side to side, but made me think of it)
haha...just about everybody got themselves a TR 1950x during black fri...bloody awesome deals for it like $250 off the price amazing deal also have mine just saving up for the rest of the parts will be building my first PC in the thermaltake view 71 with TR1950x...looking forward to part 2
Yeah the TR4 socket from foxconn requires a lot of pressure. I thought Asus only used Lotus sockets, which are way better, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case
Hey guys, I need proper help! I would like to buy a new 4K system for the following applications: Lumion 8, Sketchup, Vectorworks, Rhino 6 with Grasshopper, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, which are primarily architectural applications (Renderings and stuff like that - 2D and 3D). In terms of better performance, should I go for an Intel Core i9-7900X, 10x 3.30GHz or Intel Core i7-8700K, 6x 3.70GHz? Folllowing the other components: Mainboard for the i9: MSI X299 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, Mainboard for the i7: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming, SSD: Samsung SSD 960 PRO 512GB, M.2, RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB schwarz DIMM Kit 64GB, DDR4-2666, GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio, 11GB GDDR5X, CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H150i Pro, PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 10-CM 600W, Case: Variable
There is not much value retention in pc components, they are like cars. I'm still using a system I built in 2010 for $1300, but it's now worth about $200 on craigslist IF I could find the perfect buyer. I could argue that the value retention is in the longevity of the components, but if you are suggesting in any way that this system will remain "top of the line" for any length of time that's funny.
Haven't EK since recalled this waterblock due to disappointing results? Kinda seemed like they bodged this block together to make it cool Threadripper, but not even aiming for optimal coverage.
i wanted to see you installing the cpu block because i bought an ek block for my 1950x and the tolerances were crap, the mounting holes wouldnt line up.
really? you had to have done it in the form of a time lapse, not explained, it is epic the build but bored to explain in 2 parts an epic, it was better to do a build in the form of a time lapse that has 20 minutes of duration, instead of 2 videos of 20 minutes.
This is sadly true... Can't wait to see comparisons to Heatkiller's block, that thing looks insane! Ek disappointed by not increasing the fin size or anything and it shows.
ever consider a custom front panel as a reservoir? like; two layers of acrylic close together and sealed as a tank. baffled at the top (or bottom) so that it runs like a waterfall down the whole front panel. mayhems might like to sponsor something like that. 1 of a kind!
just looked, I was thinking more of a full length unadulterated panel with a non transparent coolant (cant remember name, but the fluid that looks like it has a ripple of particles through it). not that Radikult builds aren't awesome. thanks again for the head up
That EK block doesn't have flow over the whole IHS.. And that may not currently be a problem for some, but should AMD decide to use 4 modules instead of the current 2 then that extra coverage would surely help.
EK are my default waterblock of choice. However they cheaped out on Thread Ripper by not splitting the jet plates. XSPC have a much better block that has shown to be 10 degrees better and has built im RGB to boot. That's where my money would have gone.
i have a question: for the AIDA64 sidebar (on the desktop) you use the windows gadget app. I've seen your video about it, but i can't use the windows gadget, it does appear that it has been disable by microsoft for security reasons :( Windows now wants me to use the windows store instead. How did you fix this problem ?
Hi mate, I've always been a bit confused on ordering from amazon. How does the warranty work? Do u just cop the 10% tax on your more expensive parts that are >$1000?
Is there any way I can purchase one of your custom cases for my Cosmos 2 and Phanteks Enthoo Primo builds from your shop? It would really protect my PC's when moving around.
As a US viewer, best way to start my morning is with a SC computer vid and hot coffee. Thanks for the content. Have learned most everything I know from you.
that board is plagued with issues I have been trying to live with it for a few months but its been cringe worthy at best with each bios update www.overclock.net/t/1642825/asus-x399-the-rog-zenith-extreme-a-complaint-bug-tracking-thread
Its 40c here and the EK block isnt that effective either. Our systems get pushed harder than anything due to the high ambients. Its a good test environment to push them.
