This is a review and test ride of my very own and DIRTY Triumph America 2011 model! I want to do more in depth reviews of motorcycles in the future, so don't forget to SUBSCRIBE
Enjoy my 2010 Triumph America LT. Nice bike. Did 150 miles yesterday, 175 today, just pleasure cruising the backroads of my part of Maryland. Great on hills, cornering, twisties, love to lean it. Never a problem with it. I will eventually replace the seat though with a Saddleman or Corbin. Great review!
A very thorough and honest review of your Triumph America! Thanks for taking the time to do the video and share it around. You have convinced me that they ARE a great bike! Regards from Australia.
Thanks mate!! It defo is a grand bike!! not the best in the world, but i love it !! stay tuned for more bike reviews in the future !! :) ( have some goon for me down under! )
Jochen, my America has been like a Honda, trouble free. The 865 is plenty powerful enough but this bike is about cruising. It has better ergonomics than a HD. It is in between a forward cruiser and a standard for hand, saddle and feet position. I am 5-10 and it is very comfortable for me.
Greetings from New York. Good honest review. I hadn't been on a bike in quite a few years, and i picked up an '11 America back in May. Beautiful bike. Nimble for the size. Great commuter bike, but also big enough to be comfortable on longer rides. Been thinking about adding a tach, but you dont really miss it. Good gear feel, plenty of power, and a nice smooth cruise at highway speeds. Looking forward to many, many miles on it.
Thanks man ! I have had mine for a year now, and I ride it every day! No complaints! For German roads I needed something with a little more power for long distance, so I got myself an additional touring bike, but I still took the American around Europe last summer! Enjoy your bike, mate! And don't forget to subscribe if you like my content :)
I have also got a triumph America a 2011 model I've had it for over three years it's a fantastic bike I've had many motorcycles over my bike career and this one of my favourites I really like your review well done for taking the time to post it here on RU-vid have a great day
WinterMotors good morning thank you for coming back to me I have subscribed to your channel I've had a lot of bikes over the years 31 bikes to be honest the triumph America is one of my favourites I've got no plans to change it it's a great bike have a great weekend ⭐️
Cheers from N Carolina! My America came with floorboards and heel and toe shift. I bought mine new at a dealership that was also HD. I went to buy a HD but when I threw my leg over the America I knew it was for me. Keeping my 2016 forever.
I feel u man ! I got mine out of a Indian motorcycles dealership, i was gonna pick up a iron 883 they had but I thought I'd give the American a run, and I loved it ! Only thing I am missing is a little more power and a 6th gear, because the roads are very fast here in Germany
I put a Dart screen on a bikini one ,makes a huge difference and my handlebars are larger and more pulled back ,use mine to go camping frequently ,handles gravel roads really easily,I absolutely love mine , so far have gotten 370klm from one tank, the fuel cap must be faulty Mine is great it’s a 2013 klm , the shake will be the tyres I have pirelli night dragons on it doesn’t wobble ,
Enjoying the channel Sean I have a 08 Bonnie America great bikes. Loving the Viking stuff lm a Viking reenactor from the UK so you definitely got my interest in your vlogs. 🤟
Just bought a 2008 Triumph America, first bike ever! Getting delivered in 2 days but first impression when I checked it out, only complaint is the exhaust is alot quieter than I expected, not looking for anything crazy but something with a bit more bite. Any recommendations?
Nice review Sean, and I enjoyed the ride! I just purchased a new to me 2015 America last month and it's my daily rider and I love it. My bars are different as they're the swept back cruiser style and since I'm not used to a cruiser this bike took some getting used to for me. But used to it I am and I very much like this ride! Thanks for the review! Btw, the fuel cap on mine is much improved over yours. I can open it with a gloved hand no problem. The screw threads look identical to yours so talk to Triumph and see. Also, the front end shake when you take your hands off... I don't get that. At all, and I have new Metzler's all around and they're the wide ones like yours. Wheel balance? Anyway, cheers and ride safe bro!
I'm a Triumph America Buddy! Love this bike! Only add on Im thinking about is an Airhawk seat pad for rides over an hour. Thanks for the review. Just subscribed.
Thanks for showing us your America! I have a 2016 last year of production. They changed the gas cap design to put a ridge in it. So maybe order that year cap. The also made the floorboards standard with heal and toe shifting. I'm a senior and it's likely my last bike. It has great balance and plenty of torque. Cheers from North Carolina and ride safe.
Thanks man! I am uploading a 1 year later update on the triumph America tomorrow at 16:30 German time, if you're interested :) I have done a lot of modifications to it. It's a lovely bike, and I am glad to hear you're enjoying yours! I have heel toe shift on one of my other bikes, and I am not a big fan, because I have quite big feet haha, so I am glad I don't have that on mine, but each to their own :)
Great Vid. Tnx. The bike should NOT shake when you take your hand off.....I would recommend getting a wheel balance and have your front wheel bearings checked ASAP.
After reading numerous reviews of the America I am going to go test ride one this weekend. They look great. I will be looking at an 07 with 26,000 miles on it. Fresh tune up and oil change from a local shop with a great reputation. The cost will be 3,000 dollars and it just had a new chain and sprocket put on. Hope I love it the way you love yours. I really miss riding.
greetings from the US! I'll be your America buddy! Just bought mine a couple weeks ago and have nothing but nice things to say about her! Great bike! Mine is a little older, 2008, and has a different gas cap, much easier to get off than yours, I wonder what made them put such a horrific cap on it?! Keep the shiny side up brother!
Hi you could try a locking gas cap from Triumph. I have one on my 2016 Triumph America, and the locking cap sites a little taller so you can very easily grab it and unscrew it with your fingers of either hand, or you can also insert the key and it to turn the cap. By the way my bike is in my garage for the winter storage, as I live in Canada and we had snow again yesterday, hope it will be the last of it for this year, but can’t wait for April or the mid April so I can take it go out to use the bike again. Hope my tip helps good luck. By the way I love my bike, and I am 5.6ft or 170.688cm and I fit nicely on it. Take care and ride safe every one.
My bike's handlebars used to shake like that. It's the bearings. I got new ones for 30 bucks and the dealer put them in for about 80. Now they never shake... The brand is allballs. My bike is a vtx 1300 honda.
Nice review, for the lil shake, check if your wheel is well balanced ? Maybe that’s the answer. I have a Bonneville and It doesn’t do that. Thanks and safe riding to you.
I had that gas cap on my America and would use a key to spin it from the side. I have since placed the gas cap onto my Thunderbird and put back the original one that came with the bike.
Hi Sean, I have same bike and like you, fit me like a glove. Just wondering if you know what brand those mirrors are? Much better looking than my OEM ones
i am still running those bars, they are not great for long distances, but i just went around Europe with them on, so they do the job! i will be modifying the bike a little this week, so stay tuned
Hi Sean, then I would say they’re has to be something wrong somewhere, like I mentioned before, I have the exact same bike and it fine. Sorry I couldn’t be much help. Ride safe.
WinterMotors had to have it, collect tomorrow 😛 regarding ur fuel cap, its not the right one for the america, so i’m told, urs is off a bonnie, they haven’t got a recess, it should have a raised bar in the middle fella, like mine 😁
@@colinwakeling6367 Thanks man ! mine looks good tho and seems to work fine now that it is warmer outside, but i might look in to getting a replacement soon enough! i hope you enjoy your America!
Mine has a fuel light that comes on when it's low.. but the lack of a fuel gauge hasn't bothered me, although it might when I take the bike out touring
Just bought a 2016 Triumph America with only 300 miles on it. The check engine light is on. I haven’t checked the code yet but the bike rides and performs perfectly. Any ideas on why the check engine light would stay on on an almost new bike?
could be many things, maybe oil? or just a malfunctioning light.. could also be that the odometer has been tampered with, i suggest you take it to a mechanic
Nice review 👍 can you tell what the width of the handlebar is please. I'm very keen on one of these but my garden access is narrow, is the riding position comfortable with the straighter bars, I'm 6'2" thanks
I found one a little far from my house I am 6,4 height Is it going to fit me ? any opinion of a tall person? I am between the America and an older triumph thunderbird900
Hey bud! it could just be the fat front tire causing that, It could also be a worn neck bearing. Just check on that by lifting the bike up off the ground and see if the forks have up and down play. That was a problem on a used bike I bought previously. Anyways, stay safe! Nice bike, love the vid!
Hey mate ! This is what I was thinking too, but after talking to other America owners, it seems to be a common issue that the bike has with no way of fixing it, I have gotten used to it tho, no issue :) Thanks ! And please consider subscribing
@@WinterMotors oh okay! Good to know. I’m thinking of buying an earlier model, around 2003-2006. I might put a slightly skinner front tire/rim combo on and see if that changes anything. Cheers!
Did you ever figured out the reason for the front end shake/wobble? Or how to fix it? I still have few months to perfect mine before the next great summer of riding. (speedmaster 865 2009/2010)
@@haippics I have looked in to it.. and I have been told that it is just how the America is.. I don't really believe that, but I have left it at that haha
I have an 09 Triumph America with 15K miles. It seems the engine noise does get pretty loud if you ride it on a hot day. I was wondering if adjusting the valves would quieten down the engine. It does seem to run quieter since I put Lucas oil in it
@@scooterbutner9674 aah okay, that's weird, I haven't experienced that.. maybe have a chat with a mechanic? Oil change would behave been my first guess aswell
I ride a 2008 865 America. Guess what. No stupid fat front tyre No speed wobble. And a filler cap that is a doddle to open. Plus you get a rev counter . I love my bike but it's a barge at walking pace. I highly recommend a Burnett racing clutch. Standard clutch is too grabbie. My major gripe is the turning circle.
I love to wide front tyre, it's what sells that bike to me, the speed master style is cool, but a little to "small" for me. Not having a speed wobble sounds nice tho haha And I found out that the filler cap I have is not original, and that's the reason for the issues
As I'm watching this video it's 2 years old and I see it shows it has like a 127 comments and I have not went back and read to call me it's but I own a 2008 Trump America love it but I'm going to tell you about the gas cap they didn't they weren't made like that on the 2008 they had a big thing on the top that you could get a hold of the cap and turn it very easily and pictures can be deceiving by looking at the threads on your tank on your cap they look identical so you might want to go back and check at a dealership I know as I'm speaking they don't make them America no more but you can still get parts for them you might want to get a cat for the older model ones you'll love it I don't know why they come up with that design not good thinking thanks for the video love the box yeah tramps don't quite have the sound like a Harley but I always want to be different I don't want to be like everyone else so yeah I love my trump
Hey man ! Yeah I figured it wasn't original by looking at original America's, I got a technique in the end so I was able to live with it xD but it was quite annoying that's for sure Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already:)
@@WinterMotors 11:28 the front wheel should never wobble like that - show it to a mechanic - he should rectify it; the wobble has nothing to do with fat tyres: probably your front wheel is unbalanced; look at this girl: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X38xKrEwGUo.html she's standing on the tank while riding, and nothing wobbles
Debating buying my friend's America... Where are you, man? Nederlands? It's weird - every 8th word, there's a Scottish twang! (🤔I guess that will be the Viking link... 🤘🏼)
High maintenance is a little bit of a over statement, takes two seconds to tighten if necessary, and if you ride as much as me, you get about 40-50.000 km on it before you have to change it. It's also easier to work with if you want a little extra power :)
@@WinterMotors Fair enough. Not so much high, but does require more work than a belt or shaft, correct? But doesn't it need to be lubricated regularly, particularly when one lives in a wetter climate? Thanks for the review and response.
@@joeq.public281 that is true, more maintenance than belt or shaft, it's all relevant tho :) A little lubrication is good, yeah, but lubing a chain regularly is disputed, and it depends on your chain..
