Today Kyle will remove, install, and size a new high gear bronze bushing for a customer
High gear and mainshaft is out of a Triumph 650 unit twin
Clearance is set at .0025” using a Sunnen MBB1600 rod machine
We offer this service to our customer for $20 (not including parts)

Nice job. Question. How far out (gearbox cluster end) should the bushing protrude if at all ? I'm trying to upgrade the 4th gear (early type `66 with the bushing open on clutch end) for the later gear with the extra metal nose. Regards from UK.

Can you tell me the symptoms of having a very worn high gear bush .? Would there be a strange vibration now and then but only in top gear ? Or would this only give you a oil leak ? Cheers.

If the outside has a groove, it will cause oil leaks - vibration could happen, if your mainshaft is bent, you will get vibration depending on how bad the run out is

Book calls for a minimum of .0025" - keep in mind that oil needs to get into the bushing, also, the tighter you run the high gear on the shaft, you need to ensure that the mainshaft has very minimal run-out. I'm certain .004" is the max that the book calls for
