Lethbridge, Alberta 1979. I was 14 years old right up at the barricade in front of Rik. He noticed my TRIUMPH t-shirt, pointed at me, gave me a thumbs up and a smile. It was exhilarating to have the attention of my guitar hero for a brief moment! What a cool guy. That concert changed my life.
I just caught this documentary on the AXS channel, and I'm so glad I watched it all the way through, it was a fantastic story! After I turned the TV off, I was sad because I never gave Triumph a really good listen growing up in the 70s and 80s. I wish I was a fan during their heyday. 😔
I'm sorry, (you missed out). I was hook from the 1st note off the Never Surrender album and then went and bought their entire collection up to that point. (I was 16) I currently own every record made along with everything I can possibly find from them. (I am now 60) #2 band ever in my book. Rik Emmit is/was a monster.
And boom, just like that, after watching this docuntary I'm back in my long hair, jean jacket, Camaro with my girlfriend cruising around and enjoying an endless summer , house parties and listening to Triumph, Rush, Kim Mitchell and Boston, with friends from high school, rock concerts at Canada's Wonderland Kingswood music theater....and all the rock concerts at the CNE....life was so simple then.... .honestly man, what I would give to go back....
@@pewsterbaby Kim Mitchell is a Canadian singer/songwriter/guitarist formerly of the band "Max Webster". Webster recorded "Battlescar" with Rush. He and his bandmates had a following in Canada and parts of the Northern U.S. as well as Europe, and were friends with Triumph and Rush. They never made a bad album and were a great live act. Wiki them, and look them up here on RU-vid.
My God... These guys were true Rock heroes of my youth. I gave my heart to my guitar hero Rik Emmet for his sincere playing... I have loved his musicanship over 30 years. I'm a family person and a creative girl as well, because I write small poems and learn to play my own electric guitar! "Rocket", you are amazing! I would be very happy to watch this movie and to thank all of you!
Attending FanFest was incredible... but the joy of having the curtain drop and seeing Triumph playing together was the best rock n roll moment of my life and just blew our minds! Love you guys!!! So excited to see the documentary.
growing up in the 80s Triumph was definitely considered a Super Group. and one of the few power trio super groups at the time along with Rush. but there was something about their energy that made you feel like it couldn't last forever.
I was lucky enough to see Triumph on their Thunder Seven tour . Amazing show they put on . Rik Emmett is such an amazing guitarist . Looking forward to seeing the documentary.
The 1st concert I saw was T. , Nassau Coliseum,1983...Never Surrender. I sneaked in a camera & took shots of Gil behind his kit. Nobody sat behind the stage. Foghat opened up for them. 👍👍
Congratulations Sam and Marc. This doc. has really set the light on how hard these guys worked to achieve what they have done. I saw the entire doc. on Crave TV. Tried to look for it again in their menu catalogue but no success. Watched a lot of your docs Sam and never disappointed. Thanks Much Guys. (Huge Triumph Fan)
I’m grateful to know Mike who I met through a very good friend. Turns out one day I told Mike after knowing him for about ten years, that “I bet you know my cousin Mike” “Oh ya Who’s your cousin” “Jimmy Johnston is my cousin Mike” Well holy shite Mike’s like “Jimmy & I are great friends” Six degrees of separation right there! One Love everyone! Mike’s line!
Always one of my favorite bands from the first time I saw the TV commercial for the Just A Game Album I was hooked! Rik was, is, and always will be my biggest musical and Guitar influence and inspiration. I have a video on my channel of me doing Midsummer's Daydream and have another Triumph one coming soon. Can't wait to see this film!
I saw them at Northern Secondary School in Sturgeon Falls Ontario, in the late 70's early 80's. they played in the Cafeteria as the gym had a new hardwood floor * the cafeteria seated may 80 people comfortably... the drum kit was elevated through the false ceiling.. and the fireworks ... LOL
Saw them headline in June '80. They came outside to meet/greet fans before & after the show. Great performance by a great trio. Happy to see them again at the peak of their popularity in March '83 after getting the FM airplay they deserved for uplifting themes.
Oh my, Rick Emitt there are no words for how things ended up. But just remember you and everyone that was on stage with you, that really was the best time of your life's. Yes there was problems about the songs and to put your songs out there. If they had, there's no telling how long all of you would've still toured. Well enough about that because you did write songs and they got hurd. Take care and the whole band, It's always good to get together and play. I bet all of you would have really played with the new electronics. Oh, and Rick; I know you and the boys, don't take that wrong. We have all aged. But you didn't have any problems getting girls at the time. Don't ever stop playing, even if it's in your homes. HOW COOL!!
Oh yeah!!!! finally a documentary on one of the best hard rock bands in the business or I should say when there was a business. These guys knew how to rock and am proud as he'll to say they are from Canada....like me eh!!!!
one of those great bands that randomly pops up on my Mp3 player. And EVERY TIME I'm just like "FUCK YEA!!! I REMEMBER...." and then all these awesome 80's memories just start going through my mind no matter where I am or what I'm doing. High skule kegger parties..."DRINK!! DRINK!! DRINK MOTHER...ER.!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣😀😀 Here's to the Magic Power man! 🤙👍😎✌
I just hope triumph gives San Antonio tx and Joe the(godfather)Anthony and the city of San Antonio tx some justice we were there before America even heard of the band thanks to Joe Anthony and stone city attractions the sold out show at the municipal aditorium broke the band out of San Antonio tx in America we were always loyal to the band and we hope u all come back to the state of the art renovated municipal aditorium now called the Tobin center with state of the art acoustic welcome back home guys
I have just finished (This very minute) watching the Blu Ray of this documentary. Perfect from start to finish, although Sebastian Bach comes across as a bit annoying lol. I just hope that after seeing this there will be blu Ray/DVD releases of the actual Fan fest performance, Rocklahoma etc
Fantastic band! Awesome musicians! Great songs! Maybe not such good business people. I'm literally disgusted how they keep hyping this documentary that a very low percentage of fans have actually been able to see. As a serious fan of Triumph I feel disrespected.
Triumph. Because its a name that sounds a lot better than Abernathy Shagnaster--which sounds like a law firm. "The law offices of Abernathy Shagnaster" ("Abby Shag" for short)🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They were a poor man's Rush not quite as good still a pretty good band though I do like triumph but they weren't on the same level as rush rush was the better version of course oh yeah no question that's why Rush was bigger
I understand the fact that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but investing today is a hard thing to do because I have no idea of how and where to invest in?
Exactly, money is always eager and ready to work for anyone who is already to employ it, I was able to withdraw my profit of $17,000 after investing $3,500 with Mr GARY RALPH some weeks ago.
