Yes I'm sure the functionality of the Corbins would be much better, I just preferred the look of the originals and living in Western Australia we get very little rain, so whether they let water in or not, is a bit irrelevant for me. Thanks for watching .
Thanks for the video! Just got me a R3 in Feb, and finding storage solutions for it has been a nightmare. I think I might end up going with the Corbins.
Hi, I’d say the functionality of the Corbins would probably be much better, personally I just prefer the look of the genuine triumph bags. Thanks for watching 👍
I wouldn’t give Cornin another red cent of my money if they were the last option on earth. The absolute worst customer service for motorcycle parts I’ve ever had. The girls I spoke to were clueless and for their prices… some knowledge/service should be available.
Well, those are ok and look nice but I dont think so for $1800! The paniers should have decent enough seals that you shouldnt have to have a waterproof bags on the inside. Apparently, water can infiltrate into the panier around the bag which could lead to mold on the interior so that seems like an issue that should be addressed. I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Hi, and you're absolutely right, they are too expensive and should have better seals (& locks), but "for me" they are ok, I like the look and here in Western Australia we get very little rain, (and I wouldn't be out in it, at least not for long, if there was). So they kinda make sense for me, but I fully get that they're not for everyone. Great to hear you enjoy my vids ... thanks for watching.
@@Carlshandlebarsandholidays Yeah I didnt really think youre coming to us from Australia where it doesnt rain often like it does here. I think they look great and the mounting brackets are really slick and well designed as well as their locking systems.
Agree with the comment below, also for $1800 the underpan should have had the mounting clips and a freakin fender should be included. The one thing I do not like about the Rocket 3 is that open rear fender. Ugh. Also can the paniers be switched? The locks would then be on the back side and readable in the correct way.
Yes I totally agree re the fender etc, unfortunately no the panniers can’t be switched so you’re stuck with the locks being the wrong way round, bit of a crazy design really. Thanks for watching 👍
Short info after holidays: Panniers are definitely NOT worth the money. They are absolute opposite of the motorcycle. Looks cheap, are soft, operation is strange and promises problems in near future (zips, locks, plastic pieces). Unfortunately, aftermarket has no other (better) solution.
Looking at this again, I think almost $1800.00 for this set of paniers is a rip off, especially when a less than $20 pair of side cutters, will give you entry. Perhaps even a $5 box cutter would cut open the bags even quicker? Having said that, I do love the bike.
I have never even used the locks. I would rather someone get in there with the zippers than have them break the cheesy locks or cut the bag with a knife. Three years into it and never had a problem anyway.
$1800.00 is a rort, considering that anyone can create a new code to open the panniers. All you need is a pin to poke in the side hole and dial a new number. Not secure at all.
Bloody not cheap panniers these dealers are definitely bending us over, still trying to convince myself to spend $1100 for panniers for my Bonnieville t120
Sorry to ask but will this support if I drop the motorcycle. I am in search of a crash bar / sliders without any success. Thinking of this as the last option..
I think the V2s are overall worse. They lack the netting and strap/buckle system that the originals had which takes away a lot from them. I've had both. I got the V2s for free under warranty when my V1s had a major zipper malfunction. Of which, the V2s did not upgrade the zipper. I waxed them and just have to hope for the best. The V1 zippers loved to snag.
No, they're certainly not the best (just the most expensive ... LOL) I'll just have to see how they go, and be gentle with the zippers I guess ... thanks for the heads up and thanks for watching 👍
No they don’t come with that key, it’s an override key, called a TSA007, actually handy to have just in case your lock stuffs up, they are also super cheap on eBay, (around $2-$3)
Thanks for the video. I have had my pannniers replaced with the new ones but don’t have any use for them. Is there an easy way to get the barrels back out so I can sell them? TIA
Yes the panniers leave a good deal to be desired. I actually never had my pillion & panniers on at the same time. The Mrs didn’t find it comfortable at all, so we’ve since sold the bike. Thanks for watching 👍
Sadly no ! .... this is something Triumph surely should have thought about, an expandable section (like you get on lots of suitcases) would have been a good addition, not the most secure, but still a nice option to have had.
Which part number are the bags? I've looked at the web pages and everywhere are the locks o nrear side. So 1) all web pages have wrong pictures, 2) you have faulty bags.
Hi .... LOL as the title says, these are the version 2 panniers, I think you're looking at pics of the version 1 (which has the locks on the rear) and the part number is also shown on the video at the top of the screen about 35 seconds into the video. 👍
I posted here link with the picture but i is probably forbidden. But all pictures, also on original web page looks the same. Look at triumph web page, there is photo. You should return your faulty bags.
@@ichbinmartin ... interestingly when I look on the Triumph Australia website you're actually correct, it doesn't show the lock on the front, which is very strange. I'll ask the question on a couple of forums, there's bound to be other out there that have bought the 25L v2 bags, so it'll be interesting to see where they say theirs are. Do you have a Rocket Ich bin Martin ?
From my point of view is also stupit the code lock with TSA, because every thief has all the seven TSA keys. Just you don't. Best panniers has BMW R1200R(RT). Plastic, durable, great solved lock mechanism on key from motorbike. Also great prepared frame for attaching.
Do they have a 10-lb limit per side? I think I would prefer the big bag that goes on the back seat if you’re riding solo. There are a lot of complaints on the forums about those saddle bags.
Yes you're right, generally they aren't really rated, but I really only wanted them to be able to stuff the odd jacket in when it's too hot etc (can't say that I've seen a weight limit, but again that wouldn't really matter in my case). If needed I could always put a big bag over the rear seat and a small bag on the rack too.
You're absolutely right Ken, putting them on the opener and spinning them round would have worked. I really don't think Triumph spent much time thinking about the locks ... LOL
To lock the panniers, I assume as long as you know their code to start with you could re-code them to a new combination of your choosing. But in terms of locking them onto the bike I think you’d need to replace their barrels with the ones that you should have got with your bike. Hope that helps & thanks for watching.

Just ordered the panniers through Triumph. Unfortunately they’re on back order and will take 6-8 weeks. Thinking that’s optimistic….how long did it take to get yours?
Hi, you’re not gonna wanna hear this but the panniers themselves took around 4 months to arrive, but the brackets to attach them didn’t arrive till about a month later, so you’re probably in for a bit of a wait, as a point of interest, my dealer initially said they’d take about a week …. LOL (thanks for watching 👍)
I have probably something with my phone or pressed wrong button, so am not able rto respond to line. I don't have Rocket yet ;) Just totay i have booked the test ride. I own Intruder C800, but after 6 years and 100000km i would like to change ot for something similar but technologicaly modern. Because European Socialist Union forget to import Japan V2 cruisers and also eu producers dont make it, and i am not fam of HD, and Indian has low build quality, i decided to try the Rocket Gt. I am l
I am looking forward to the ride! I am really curious if it suits to me, if it is good bike for long trips, for city, for everything but sport and enduro. Hehe
just had about half a dozen people answer my forum question re the position of the locks. Several people who ave them have confirmed the older 20L v1 panniers have the locks on the back and the newer 25L v2 panniers have them on the front. Looks like Triumph just haven't bothered changing the picture on the website.
