For any of you concerned about the Competition Werkes exhaust being too loud - it's just right with the DB killers. I'm one who does not like obnoxious exhaust - just want to clearly hear the exhaust note. The Werkes with the DB killers is perfect. It has a deep tone, you can hear the triple exhaust note clearly, and you won't need earplugs. You will hear the post-exhaust port hydrocarbon combustion (popping), but it's not bad at all - I kind of like it. Thanks Big500!
Cheers ! Appreciate that info ! Also would you happen to have the part number for that exhaust ? I called them today and he sent me a picture that was one can only. Not even close! 🧐 appreciate it mate! Ps: I’m in Canada now. Moved here from UK in 1981. Great videos!
Got my second Rocket 3 2021 and 2022.... But in all my life I cannot understand why poeple will put on those hideously ugly cans on a Rocket....... They are sooooo ugly. I reworked my stock and works amazing
Well done. Nice to see the installation process on this bike. Would have been great to see the whole process from a tripod, but I kind of like that you edited together all you really need to know. Not rubbish at all.
Seriously tempted by this system for my R. How are you getting on with it day to day? Baffles still in I guess, it still sounds so good with them. Have you done any videos on the road under acceleration? Thanks for sharing this video 👍🏼🚀😁
It’s fine up to now. I did do a ride out video the other day but the sound quality from the camera was just wind noise, I need to sort out a decent Mike and try again.👍
Beautiful bike ! Just came cross your channel, I'm happy to support you and other fellow motovloggers. Best of luck with your efforts, I look forward to seeing more from you. Take care and ride safe out there 💯💯👍👍
This quote, taken from the R3 Owners Website is helped me understand how to re-use the gasket properly, as the instructions were unclear like this video suggests: "What gave me trouble before watching his video was determining from the manual exactly which three bolts hold on the cat assembly. The middle one is deep, coming in from the left, and required a long socket extension for the 12mm. The Werkes instructions say to reuse the gasket from the original exhaust, but it's embedded in a metal ring. I thought the ring would be considered part of the "gasket"- well, no. You need to dig that out (very carefully) and pack it in the lip, or flange, of the new exhaust (I used some copper gasket seal on all of my connections, btw). That part took the longest time of the entire installation, being careful not to destroy the old gasket. Without the metal ring the stock exhaust clamp will then go over the lip on the header AND the flange on the exhaust. Success!" - Journeyman28778
First of all very good instruction video for how to install the new exhaust. i know it's a question of taste, but for mine opinion the Werkes exhaust ruins the complete look of the bike. For me there is only 1 not original exhaust that fits the bike, and that's the ones from Zard
Very useful video, thank you dear. I bought a brand new Rocket 3R and am waiting for its delivery, hopefully within a week. Meanwhile I've also ordered this exhaust from Competition Werkes. Really excited. I'm keen to see your video of the ride with clear audio
Hello, nice bike. I've been contemplating the Rocket 3R vs the Ducati Diavel 1260S. Seems you've had both and would love to hear your input on the two. Do you prefer one over the other?
Hey Mate, my werkes is enroute from Oregon to Canada will be here Monday next week! Question for ya ......did you have to map it after you installed the exhaust? I heard some people have. Cheers ! Dave
Hi there…. I’m sure a fit young fella, could fit the exhaust from the ground with the bike on its side stand👍 sorry, don’t have torque specs, I just used my own feeling that everything was tight enough👍😎
Thanks for posting this I am waiting the arrival of mine. Sounds absolutely awesome cant wait. Are there any brackets on the silencer or does it just fit onto the exhaust only? You didn’t show fitting of the Lambda sensor was it straight forward and easy?
Hi Ralph... yes there is a bracket on the lower pipe, and it bolts to a hole that the original silencer was mounted to. As for the 02 sensor easy to unscrew from stock exhaust and just screw into the werkes. All pretty straight forward.👍
Does it sound the same with baffles in, just quieter? Or does it sound deeper? The thing I don’t like about the pipe on mine is that it’s just not deep enough of a tone.
Hey Big500 - Thanks for the video! With my old ears, it's hard for me to tell if the db killers reduce the db level much. I'm looking for exhaust that will bring out the triple exhaust note, but I don't want obnoxious. I want a pleasant ride that doesn't require earplugs. I know exhaust sound is subjective, but, in your opinion, would you say your Werkes with the db killers are: Pleasant - no earplugs required, neighbors won't complain, police won't give a second glance - just a nice, deep tone On the verge of obnoxious - neighbors may complain, and you're constantly keeping an eye out for police, lol Obnoxious - earplugs recommended, neighbors will complain, police won't be happy.
Hi there…. Sorry for the slow reply… not been well🙁. I say your 1st description has pretty much nailed it. This exhaust with DB killers, perfectly acceptable for day to day use, without upsetting people😎
Mmm. At a guess I’d say if I rated the stock exhaust at a 5 at 80 mph then I’d have to rate the Werkes at a 7. What I found on yesterday’s ride, is that there is a lot of popping and banging on the over run, but if you feather the throttle, it doesn’t do it. Also don’t forget, I do have the baffles fitted👍
@@big500 ---> I'm sure that roll-on power for passing slower vehicles is so much better now with the Werk's exhaust vs the stock exhaust with the catalytic converter?
Hey there. Bit of a novice as have only just purchased my rocket gt. I'm looking to buy some of these it says around £800 do i need to purchase a number of these or does 1 purchase get all the pipes? Appreciate your advice 🙂
Hi Ashley. 1 purchase gets all of the pipes. I’ve removed mine and will be putting it up for sale for £500 if you’re interested. It’s obviously second hand but in good shape. I’m currently in hospital following some pretty extensive knee surgery so can’t do anything for a few weeks. But if you want it let me know and we’ll go from there once I escape🙏
Did your bike run real hot after installing? I had these installed on my TFC. Now it runs real hot. I'm worried im gonna blow the engine. Is it supposed to be run idle for 20 mins.to let the ECU adjust the A/F?
Hi there CG… I’ve been a bit poorly and hardly ridden since I fitted the exhaust, but as far as I can tell, nothing has changed. Bike runs just like stock.👍
