Sweet bike. I was extremely tempted to buy one as you can now find them quite cheap still new, but then I remembered the issues that I had with it's naked brother. When they don't have issues, they're brilliant bikes.

Hey I know you! Lol There's been quite a few recalls in the past year. There's a new heat guard for the radiator, adjusted radiator fan tuning, improved throttle smoothing as well as quick shifter smoothing plus a couple of ECU updates. The turn by turn navigation and Triumph app are still garbage though! 😆

I've owned and tracked this bike for about 9 months now and have just over 16,000 miles on it. Awesome bike to ride. A few downsides. 1) Dealer network for repairs arent great for warranty work. Lead times 7-10 days on parts and then 1-2 months to fix. 2) To remove the radiator cap you have to take off the fuel tank, pull the seats, battery, pull out the air box which is wedged into a silicone gasket near the bikes nose that is really tough to put back on. Also, remove the left turn signal to get to the bleed screw. This makes track side coolant flushes an enormous pain in the ass. 3) Stock chain only lasted 10K miles. 4) To pull your headlight fuse you have to remove your fuel tank. The rear light is under the seat which is fine. 5) Coolant hoses failed at 15.8K and started introducing air into the system and took awhile to replace. There are no options from say samco to get better quality silicone hoses so this will be a consistent replacement. Few things in mind if you plan on tracking this bike. Bonus 6) Heated grips are mediocre at best for heat. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the long term experience! I appreciate that insight! Funny, here in AZ, heated grips don't need to work that well 😝

I would say it’s not a Super Sport. It’s close but not really. The riding position is not nearly as aggressive as a true Super Sport like a Panigale or a S1000RR. It also makes more in the middle and less on the top.
@CaliMotoTV
@CaliMotoTV Месяц назад
I don't consider a panigale or s1000rr a super sport, i consider those super bikes (they literally compete in superbike classes). So that's why I called this a super sport.
@RadDadisRad
@RadDadisRad Месяц назад
@@CaliMotoTV I’m not sure i know exactly where the 1200RR fits in. Not really any class exists with those specs. Has clip-ons but also has standard style rearsets. Is mostly faired and has a decently revvy large 3 cylinder. It’s an oddity. They look really good and the 100-150 is very smooth.
@CorBor69
@CorBor69 27 дней назад
This bike is a naked bike with fairings tho. It’s not tuned like a super sport, so imo it would make more sense to compare it to the naked counterparts of what you mentioned
@RadDadisRad
@RadDadisRad 27 дней назад
@@CorBor69 no because the 1200RS is the naked version.
@CorBor69
@CorBor69 27 дней назад
@@RadDadisRad yes but the only difference between the 2 is the fairing/ clip ons and the adaptive suspension. The RR is still very much tuned like a naked bike where as if you look at the s1000r vs the s1000rr or the tuono vs rsv4 there’s different tunes different engine characteristics etc. the rs and rr are very much the exact same bike besides looks. Not hating on it I own an rr and love it but it is a much fairer comparison to compare it to the nakeds

I avoided this for the mechanical issues it has been known to have(thats why its cheap to buy, people are returning them due to several recalls). I had a street765 prior and it gave me zero problems, so I upgraded to the speed triple 1050rs. It is such a good bike, although the 1200 would have been nice (I test rode several of them), id rather have a bike that I can ride everyday without worrying about something breaking

@juanpalomoyomelocomo
@juanpalomoyomelocomo Месяц назад
For me personally, its missing the full fairings. Its supposed to be a sport bike, not a naked. Also, screen seems laggy and takes so long to start up. And last, I like gearboxes sharper, and this one on the upshifts, seems too smooth for my taste, so smooth it almost seems automatic in some way. Other than that, must be a great bike, just not for me.
@CaliMotoTV
@CaliMotoTV Месяц назад
To me it's a modern retro racer, which is why it's hard to categorize. I 100% agree about the dash. The gearbox I felt was far more "mechanical" feeling than most bikes now. The Aprilia you have zero feedback of gear selection, bmw is slightly better but still "fake" feeling, the Ducati has smoothed theirs out to almost no feeling as well.

How sporty is the riding position, is it comfortable to ride, or is it ad bad as the R1 for example.
@CaliMotoTV

No where near as bad as an R1. Far more comfortable than my V4R, I liken it closer to the streetfighter, maybe slightly more aggressive. I thought it was a rather comfortable seating position.

I've had the Speed RR for just over a year. Covered about 3,000 miles. Easily the most disappointing bike I've owned. As widely commented, it's so uncomfortable. Resolved slightly by fitting adjustable clip ons. The main bit however is the rather forgetable engine. Obviously it makes power. But it's just a bit meh. Thankfully it looks pretty. So strangely. Now, not why I bought it. But. It's now a really good sports tourer, now the clip ons are comfy. I suspect the RS is more exciting with the lack of fairing.

@@philipjames3526 Have you had all the ECU updates done on yours? I have heard similar complaints from those with model year 22 and early 23's that are still running the initial tune. I got mine already updated from the dealership it's smooth but with a good amount of character. Very similar to a BMW S1K but with a little more bark and low end grunt. You could also get a DNK or Bren Tune they apparently COMPLETELY transform the engine. Also for a cheap fix I highly recommend replacing the exhaust bread box with that cheap Chinese midpipe all over eBay it's actually shockingly good quality and really fixes the weird 5-6K zone where the servo valve makes things weird. The Speed's cat is actually in the headers so don't need a tune or piggy back after doing this!
