Though I ran out of MIG wire (and time) to get it all in, I did get the passenger's side sill installed. A bit more talking in this video than I'd like as I'm trying to get away from that, but I clear up a personal misconception about weld-through primer that others may also have.

It is when we look back at our early projects when we realize how much experience we gained over time. It is good when we learn from our mistakes and they help us improve! When I remember some of the stuff I've done on my spit.... :) I would kick myself in the back if I could LOL. Looking really great!

Thanks, Elin. Yes, there are numerous spots that I wish I could go back to, knowing what I know now. And a lot of those spots weren't repaired too long ago, either. I'd really like that first lower wing patch repair back...oh well!

Hi Chris! Happy milestone! Had to laugh when you said that you wondered why the sill seam wasn't welded. I always thought that like other Triumph replacement sills, they were as cheaply made as possible. Turns out, "it's for the flex." :-D

Mark Drukenbrod I'll tell you what...I've learned to keep an open mind through this whole experience. Never write some possibility off until there's no choice!

I had no idea about the "weld-through" primer either. But then again, I'm a software nerd and that's a hardware issue.

Me either, but there you go. You'd think they'd make that a bit more clear, but... Still a guess on my part, but confidence is high.

So I got myself into bodywork on my spit, needs new floor pans and sills. Maybe repairs on the a pillar. What should I tackle first?

Hi Caleb. Generally, disassembly is outside in (outer still, strengthener, inner sill, floor pan) and assembly is reverse. I would caution that you need good bracing, even if you are doing the repairs on the frame. The sills provide structural support for the body and it is inherently weak when they are removed. Also, the A-post needs to be supported vertically so it doesn't droop on you when you start to take it apart, especially the bottom A-post. I've got some videos of me learning that all the hard way - you are looking in the right time frame of my videos when I was doing all of that work. Feel free to contact me directly at roundtailrestoration66@gmail.com. I can send pics or whatever if I have the right spots.

Hi Chris, are you located somewhere in the greater Philly area? I'm just northwest of Philly... Dave

No, Dave, I'm in southeastern CT. I grew up in South Jersey, though, so that's where my accent and love for the Eagles comes from!

I'm at this point on my driver's side sill - I have the same end cap that you have, with that weird crease. Did you just bend the flange on the sill to meet the two "planes" of the end cap?

Yes, pretty much I think. It wasn't a nice and gentle process. I used a lot of sheet metal screws wo help get everything set, too.

@@roundtailrestoration Sounds like a plan. What about welding it to the bulkhead? I couldn't find a video where you did that. Elin used some plug welds and the said he'd use sealer around the edge.

Yes, pretty sure that's what I did, same as Elin. I can look to see if I have any pictures...been a while since I did that stuff.

Doesn't look like I have anything that will help. But, I'm almost positive that's what I did. Plug welds and seam sealer. I don't think I did too many, maybe 4-6 for each.
