Good luck hand tightening if you can’t get your hand between the new filter and oil pan. After the filter seal ring just contacts the base, turn 3/4 more and you’re done. Some will recommend 3/4 to 1 turn. See what Triumph recommends or look at what the filter maker recommends.
Haynes manual says fill engine with oil before fitting the new filter - unlike any other engine I've come across - to prevent an air lock between the oil pump and the filter. Is that not really needed?
According to the Triumph's manual it didn't say you need to add oil before installing the oil filter. I've installed the oil filter first and oil afterwards.
@@mcplutt Yes definitely fill the oil filter with oil before installing it. My previous message is a bit confusing and can be interpreted incorrectly. Thanks. Add oil to the oil filter. Install Oil Filter. And then add oil to the engine.
It´s absolutely stupid tighten the oil filter with a wratchet. This may cause leakage around nut. Which is quite dangerous. Because the oil will spray directly onto the rear wheel. You should use hand or special tool only for tightening. Nut is for removal only.
easy peasy with the k&n. But it is a bit to tight. Most filters you'd go 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn if you cant put a torque wrench on it. this one was over a full turn 😃
