Welcome guys, I had a Triumph Tiger 1200 with some seriously unusual noise coming from the engine, stick around to see the fix to this unusual problem. Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe. www.melsmotors.co.uk
This is absolutely a recall. They have refused to acknowledge this consistent issue.... not limited to just the tigers either. I have a 2017 with this EXACT issue. Big thanks to Mels Motors LTD. This was my exact issue and the walk through on how to get the part fixed was so very helpful.
You need the locking tool in order to torque the center nut correctly. It is a hollow tube that locks into the 33 tooth spline on the clutch on one end, with a hex on the other end. You can then fit a wrench onto the hex to hold onto the clutch while the center nut is torqued.
Thank you for this video, very helpful, I don’t need to strip down my clutch or cam covers. I couldn’t get out my alternator on the little hole like you, but I’ll try again tomorrow 😅 I have got a second hand alternator from a low mileage bike for 260 quid, because the new from Triumph crazy expensive 😢 (my one is a 2018 year Explorer with 24k miles)
The same problem with my Tiger Explorer 2015, 30, 000 kms, I think Triumph must change the design for the alternator or change their alternator provider (Japan) for better quality, is a common problem but when you need to change the alternator, the price is extremely expensive compared with the same item for a car
It's practically the same engine, everything is about profit and not longevity! It's the same scenario with the MT09 and their noisy clutch baskets! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂👍
I have same noise my 2020 tiger1200 desert edition which at 22.000km , I asked for brand new alternator and it cost really too much for me because of high currencies.
Would like to clarify, you did not have to remove the airbox or throttle bodies to replace this alternator? Plus only the tank cover came off not a case of draining any fuel or coolant at all? My manual states all of the above need removing. Oh okay, just noticed by looking at the parts list that the black dome IS the airbox and not the tank lol. So it would appear that just the fuel tank needs removing.
Iv got a problem with my 1200 tiger.. I turn the key lights all come on but the injectors and fuel pump dosnt kick in so nothing happens when i press start,. Iv checked, start button, On off switch, Side stand cut off, Every fuse, Key fob, Fuel sender,(pump inside of tank) And all ok.. Have you any clues.. Engine was a tad clunky into gears, as i own the 800 as well and thats loads smoother in gear changes,.. But this obviously has nothing to do with thw above... So any help could be useful if youve had this problem b4.. As i say all lights up ok but wont prime to start,.. Acts like side stands down.. Wont pump the injectors
@@thundertiger76 I took the clutch out to investigate the noise, you don't need the clutch out for the alternator, but you will need to take the cover off to get the broken piece out, this is only if you have the same alternator issue!
Very dramatic! The intro is 30 seconds long and the video is 13.40, the time you spent writing this message it was probably longer than the intro. You do have the ability to skip, skip the intro and watch the rest, I'm sure you'll enjoy it 😉 Take care 👍
