Great video, for info there will be an electric fuel pump in the boot with a canister fuel filter originally Lucas many have swapped out to a Bosch set up. This must give around 105psi when running on the pi measured at the fuel distribution block. Also should have a choke pull lever in the centre console, right hand lever. Engine sounds sweet
Hi, I never normally comment but i watch every single episode as you upload them, I have a jensen healey 2.0 lotus engine and a ford cortina gxl 2.0 mk3, I'm only 32 so these cars are before my time but I love them, this video has inspired me now to fit electronic ignition on both
I am in the same boat as the bloke with the '74. I am in the US of A and have a '71 dual-carb setup and need to know if the Accuspark Delco 6 with Tach drive will work. Looks very similar to the one you installed in the video. Would appreciate some feedback before I order, please and thank you.
Cant agree that the injection was unreliable and there is a pump in the boot or should be. Choke was not a choke its a over fuel lever entirely different action and that understanding is critical for a cold start. Great vid
Interesting , cut my teeth on these too , wish I had a mechanical tac. Want to try hall sensor type , The stag mk ,1 has electronic revcounter and the coil + lead goes through it prevents electronic , ing , some people say it works some say not . And I have two sets of points ,vac advance one condenser. but it will always run . Basic just clean points
Crikey! That makes my XR4-i look overly complicated, which in turn makes my Volvo V70 look overly complicated. Where's your ECU Adam? Got to have an ECU somewhere!
great video, did my apprenticeship on these cars really nice cars and engines, there is a high pressure fuel pump in the boot and if that was'nt producing 90psi it would give you loads of problems
@@NorfolkMancave yes even the pi,can't recall where it was connected to but i know they did'nt like to be used for short journey's using the choke as they soon fouled up the plugs
@@NorfolkMancave just googled it it's a twin cable one goes to the excess fuel lever on the metering unit and the other goes to the throttle linkage hope this helps
As one mechanic to another, I doubt that's a 7/16th's bolt , it's probably 11 mm. LOL just jestin' great video, mate. I don't believe the coil needs an earth wire because the only earth it needs is through the ignition unit and it's got that. I expect the extra terminal is for a electronic tachometer which is not used because you're on the cable drive.
