I set my quadrant to selector timing up as per the book, put it all together with all four years present. It was still a tooth out, took two more goes to get it right. A couple of good videos on here give tips on how to set it up. I found it the trickiest part of the whole rebuild.

Hi Keith, the gears are actually one down and three up so the second notch will be neutral. Try getting a screw driver in the case and see if you can move that selector folk whilst turning the back wheel. If you cannot try taking that big domed nut off under the gear box next to the drain plug. Drain the oil first if you still cannot move it it could be a selector jumped out of the cam plate. Try that and give me a ring. Regards Steve

Hi Keith, Have you tried turning the rear wheel backwards and forwards while you attempt to change gear?

Did they switch the speedo cable placement in 65? My 64 TR6 has the speedo cable going into the bottom side of the gear box. Good to know I don't have to take off the shifter or the kickstarter to pull that cover off. I haven't tried to take mine off yet.
