@@TMOD1992 I respect that Pamela is very beloved by the fans but for whatever reason I can't put my finger on her Angela rubs me the wrong and worst ways like the rest of the film. I feel bad I don't like it because everyone else is having a great time while I'm stuck
@@TheCryptofHorrors-DerCryptaxis Partly because she was going to school. Partly because she didn't think she fit the comedic aspects of the character director Michael A Simpson wanted Angela to be in parts 2 and 3. According to Felissa, Simpson really wanted Pamela Springsteen to play the role.
This is pretty much the reaction they were going for honestly! It's definitely something of a self-parody, not meant to be taken seriously. Pamela Springsteen (sister of The Boss!) is an absolute delight as Angela. Since you enjoyed this so much you should definitely check out 'Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland.' It was actually shot back-to-back with this one in the same location by the same crew, so it's very much a stylistic match. And Pam's back as Angela doing more of her murderous mugging. And of course since it was the same production company it's still not struck work.
Your joy is so infectious when you're watching something. I just kind of found this movie "whatever" when I first watched it but your reaction really shows how much of a comedic masterpiece it is. Another REALLY good and underrated 80's slasher that I think falls under the indie umbrella is Intruder from 1989. And in a fun connection to this movie, Molly's actress is in it.
@@AntonioGee The movie wasn't made to be serious, it's been confirmed It was more of a self-parody, so yeah, if part of the movie's purpose is making you laugh and you laughted, that means you laughted WITH the movie
What I love about this movie is it takes the tropes to a hundred. People like Jason, Michael, or Freddy weren't just walking around announcing that they are killing because of underage sex, drugs, and nudity. Angela is, in your face, killing because of the tropes established.
Your laughter was off the charts for SC2, Angela's disgust with the campers was at an all-time high. She legit killed damn near everyone, that shot at the end with all the beds made up and nobody accounted for was crazy! Poor Uncle John bucked too late.
I love seeing you reference specific movies now like Friday the 13th part 3, you're a true horror girlie now 😂 Also, this film is an absolute blast and Pamela Springsteen knew exactly what type of movie this is 👌
"When she says Uncle John, she means her knife" had me sooo weak!😂😂😂 I absolutely LOVE your reactions. So entertaining. Thank you for what you do! Can't wait for your reactions to Sleepaway Camp 3 and Return to Sleepaway Camp.😂😂😂
Yet another free therapy session and something to watch at work later tonight 😂🤌🏾❤️ Thank you for another video. Hope you enjoyed Queen Bey very much 😊!
The hair, the face card NEVER DECLINES MY GAAWWD! And the video is right on time, Boo!!!! This is one of my fav movies, and as TransWoman I love ‘em even more 😂 I think they’re super campy and with all the Trans propaganda ❤ your commentary makes it even better. 🤍🙏🏼
Slumber Party Massacre 1 and 2 are both amazing for different reasons. In fact I would say the killer in SPM2 probably deserves more recognition than he has.
You look so good! Angela as a character comes from a time with much less ideal trans rep. I think it's easy to empathize with her circumstances in that first movie, even if its execution is still othering of her transness. The sequels really move away from that by focusing on her being the crazy campy camp counselor. But even in this one one her hyper conservativism as a response to her experiences taps into something relevant in how gender is perceived and performed, as a way to conform to the identity pushed on her, and as a front for the violent way she lashes out at a world that's wronged her. I appreciate your sensitivity around the topic, Alanda. Just wanted to springboard off of the notions of gender that crop up with Angela.
“But why, I didn’t even do anything.” Angela: you’re gonna tell. Best line in horror cinematic history. So rich with background. Symbolism. Just so heavy.
Just finished your TCM video before viewing this one. I love how we as a group desensitized Alanda to the point she’s no longer too scared of the horror 💀 the hairdo? Beautiful. The film? Lovable gaudy trash with a fun murderer. The commentary? Amplifying the cuckoo in the best way possible. I hope you review part 3 at some point Alanda! It feels more rushed than this one but it takes the hilarity to new extremes. Great job! I look forward to your review to “Talk to Me” at some point lol Edit: I hope you review “Night of the Living Dead” at some point in its entirety. Since it’s public domain there shouldn’t be a chance of copyright striking
@@songofstorms7 Texas chainsaw massacre. Alanda covered it roughly a year ago and it freaked her tf out (understandable considering she wasn’t the horror girlie we know and love today)
Angela is an iconic horror icon!!! Pamela Springsteen is so good as Angela! Angela's clearly been corrupted by Reagan era morality politics which the film pokes fun at. I loved her quirky, weird, odd performance! Can't wait to see your reaction to Part III!
I loved the og and the sequels! Went to a reunion of sleepaway camp with John and felissa (og Angela and Ricky) and someone asked Felissa what she thought of Pamela's Angela and she said she loved her! So has her approval.. but have to say meeting them was such a treat very sweet and considerate.. even talking to me and my bf at the time longer than they had to.. just love people involved in this franchise! Yes please do watch the 3rd one it's hilarious
Sleepaway Camp is one of my all time favorites but when we were younger the little video store by us only had random sequels of a lot of movies so we ended up watching this one a lot! Today hasn’t been the best day but watching you reacting to this has def made it better, just like all your videos! ❤
Alanda... I am SO HAPPY THAT YOU ARE WATCHING THIS MOVIE. I am one of the few that thinks this movie is far superior to the original just because of how fun it is. I do not care what anybody says, this the type of movie you just turn your brain off and have fun because of how batshit crazy it is☝😭.
the sequels were by new writers. they took their own liberties with Angela as a character. I always interpreted the first film as Angela being forced to transition, though after re-watches, there are some signs that Angela was at the very least confused by her gender identity or sexual orientation before the accident.
Personally, I love the first two squeals of the Sleepaway Camp series more than the original because they’re like parodies and satires of slasher movies and so funny, entertaining and cheesy all at the same time, the jokes fit my type of humor in these movies and both of these movies are my all time favorites in my book! And I don’t care how many people hate on the first two squeals, I will love these movies until the day I die!
OMG I LOVE your new hair!!!! Watched this a few days ago, camp ridiculousness but I totally loved it. Two more indie(?) suggestions for you: Ti West's The House Of The Devil for a really good scare, and Tucker & Dale VS Evil for a great laugh!
I LOVED the original movie and even though this one is EXTREMELY different in every way - especially with it being a lot less dark, and being much more deliberately a comedy-horror - this is also one of my favourite movies! We stan Angela 'round these parts xD
Did you notice all of the characters are named after 80s brat pack actors? Phoebe (Cates) Sean (Penn) Ally (Sheedy) Mare (Winningham) Charlie (Sheen) Emilio (Estevez) Uncle John (Cusack) Molly (Ringwald) Rob (Lowe) Demi (Moore) Lea (Thompson) Anthony (Michael Hall) Judd (Nelson)
The bizarre blue slow-mo nightmares thing is because the studios had ordered a "feature-length movie" which (I think that's classed as more than 60 mins now) at the time meant at least 80 minutes (without the end credits) and the movie came in a 78, so they added that weird 2 min dream sequence lol.
I NEVER clicked so fast on getting a notification!! I’m excited for this reaction for part 2! 😂❤ Love you and your in for a ride with the SLEEPAWAY CAMP Franchise 😅
can't wait for you to keep reviewing indies! So many indie gems from the 70s, 80s, 90s 2000s yet do be discovered!! Can't wait for more! I love the practical effects of indie horrors!! Cheap but creative!
The reason the one sister was burnt already, was because she was underage and couldn’t do a violent scene. Original Angela’s actress couldn’t do Violent scenes either, so her on screen cousin did them (and to confuse the audience). And for an 80’s film series, I have respect that they tried and be mostly positive with her portrayal (I think they were going to a soft spoof of like Friday The 13th, like Scream, making the killer a smaller female character (but then made her trans for some reason I don’t know) that subverts the narrative that a lot of these 80’s films where we support the killer (and the fact they did hire of age actors, at least in the first film, which was uncommon in these films).
@@jollygoodfellow3957 No, I agree, it wasn’t the only one (Bloody Birthday had even younger kids came out a couple years before), but I think Sleepaway Camp really leaned into parody (though on a softer level, in vain of Scream), which made me feel like hiring the kids was intentional, since most slashers had 20-somethings act as teens.
Been watching the channel for a minute now, and I'm beyond thrilled you've reached (probably) the most formative horror flick of my teenage years. Bless you my flawless darling dear, thank you for doing this one. Also so many relatives of celebrities here! Spingsteen, Estevez! The list goes on and.......okay it ends there!
Pamela is so much fun as Angela! These movies really are cheesy fun. I love them. The actress playing Molly is Emilio Esteves’ sister. I just love how Angela wanders around killing everyone like she’s just cleaning up her living room (pardon the pun).
Its a real shame pamela refuses to do interviews on the films because she technically did more with the role in the actual films than felissa But felissa takes so much joy in having played angela where as pamela idk if something happend on set but she refuses to speak about her time on the show
I have been listening to the Renaissance Album nonstop, and it it really is that good. Shame I missed the tour, but amped that you got to go. Used to rent this one from the Video Den back in the day. It was...yeah. Wow. Dang. Lowkey love how all the campers were named after members of the Brat Pack and the head counselor was Uncle John, AKA John Hughes.
I know a lot of people prefer the first but this is the best Sleepaway camp to me because its just goofy fun and this is the best Angela. Its cool to see the slasher be a bubbly personality that smiles a lot compared to the likes of Jason or Myers. Especially when you get to follow Angela doing stuff like picking out her in the moment weapon its hilarious. As for the transition stuff yeah in the first movie it was pushed on her but after she decides to stay with that identity so from then on its what she is, kinda grey area but I never got the sense they were going out of their way to make any mean commentary and it was just needing a twist ending unlike something like Ace Ventura which did feel very spiteful. Honestly she's a pretty refreshing trans character getting to play the hammiest killer role without it being some commentary, she's a slasher icon!
All the characters are named after 80’s stars, especially the ones from the Brat Pack. Demi, Molly, Rob, Mare, Charlie and Emilio, etc. T.C. means Tom Cruise and Uncle John is John Hughes 😂
Great reaction! Such a fun movie. FUN FACT... Renee Estevez (Molly) is Emilo Estevez's sister... meaning she is Paula Abdul's former sister-in-law! And of course Pamela (angela) is Bruce Springsteen's sister.
So happy to see you're watching this sequel and gonna be doing the rest! My cousin and I only watched these films because of your reaction video of the first one :) You are in for a wild, hilarious, campy ride. These movies are so much fun!
beyond happy you are watching this after the original!! these movies are SOOOO funny and disturbing. i love your authentic reaction, as always. fun fact perhaps you didn't know....Angela is played by The Bruce Springsteens very own sister. yep. amazing. you MUST watch the last one. MUST. its probably my fav or the trilogy as its absolutely a blast. as always, you look fierce! the Bey look is ALL the things! xoxo from NC 💚 p.s. i want a Tiffany Valentine / Angela roadtrip movie!!
I hope it helps your algorithm or something that I watch this everyday, this is one of my go tos when I need cheering up and right now I have another flu. You are so funny and so warm hearted. I love how you take all the characters seriously and cheer them on. It makes the show sweeter. You know you might like the original Black Christmas, there are some very sweet and real characters in that one as well as a good final girl. I think you'd like it. Its my favorite of all of them.
If I remember correctly, this one and Part 3 were shot back to back, which accounts for some of the acting since they were all exhausted. Part 4 is a step back up, though.
The shift in tone between this one and the original is so extreme. My reaction was the same as yours when I first watched it. It's almost like a spoof of the original. Not even trying to be serious or scary at all.
I watched this movie when I was a kid and have always loved it because I wasn't allowed to watch stuff like that at my age. I love Halloween 3 for the same reason. I'm glad you reacted to this campy classic.
The characters in this movie are named after the brat pack molly ringwall, alley sheedy sean penn, rob lowe, charlie, emilio judd Anthony, uncle john hues ect
Hilarious reaction. Pure joy. Loved it. You are right, the acting is sooooo terrible. Like they just received the script at home and rehearsing with the family lol. Ps. Looooved the little ANTM reference 😜 we were all routing for you Angela haha Another fantastic video. You never disappoint.
truly giving Beyoncé with this look! Hope you had a good time at Renaissance. This sequel is so different from the first one but it still gives iconic 80s horror. The kills are crazy and the acting is sooo cheesy. I love it.
This might be the most fun I've had watching you so far! Your laughter and enjoyment of this crazy movie was infectious, I had a blast watching you have a blast! I think Ex Machina is an A24 film, so that might be doable for the moment. It's sci-fi, not horror, but that movie is fantastic!
