Well that's a surprise, literally revisited the LP yesterday for the first time in maybe a year. 24h later, this video pops up... seems like I'll listen to Trivium for some days now haha
My favorite band has been Slipknot since 2000 when I first saw their welcome to our neighborhood DVD, and I believe Alex might be better than Joey and Jay. This band is nothing but talent and extremely underrated.
Joey wrote a major part of Slipknot's music. Also, what makes a drummer better than the other? 🤔 Technique? Showmanship? Both? Something else? This is just art. If you prefer Alex, I completely understand. To sit down and try to figure out which one is the best, is pointless. Why not enjoy Alex, Joey and Jay?
Love these videos Alex! Judging by the audio quality, I'm guessing this is soundboard audio? If so, do you have anything on your kit triggered like kicks or snare?
Right under the Hihat you see a Roland TM-2 Trigger Module, of which channel 1 input signal is always flashing when he hits the kick drum (pretty good to see in the intro section of the song), so I'm pretty sure there is a kick trigger sample being fired anytime he hits the kick drum. It would be interesting if the kick drum is miced as well and, in that case, the two signals (kick trigger and mic) are blended. Anyway, the answer is: Yes 🙂 And I don't see any trigger installed onto the snare so the kick seems to be the only triggered component.
it's so weird listening to this because the mix is made for the audience to hear the kit in the direction they see it on stage but from this view its opposite.
