One particular legend is the koi fish’s claim to fame. An ancient tale tells of a huge school of golden koi swimming upstream the Yellow River in China. Gaining strength by fighting against the current, the school glimmered as they swam together through the river. When they reached a waterfall at the end of the river, many of the koi turned back, letting the flow of the river carry them away. The remaining koi refused to give up. Leaping from the depths of the river, they attempted to reach the top of the waterfall to no avail. Their efforts caught the attention of local demons, who mocked their efforts and heightened the waterfall out of malice. After a hundred years of jumping, one koi finally reached the top of the waterfall. The gods recognized the koi for its perseverance and determination and turned it into a golden dragon, the image of power and strength.

Nathan Stumpf But that's the point of genres... They describe a big group of music that all sounds the same. Chances are if you hate one death metal band you aren't going to like any other ones since they all sound like... death metal, that's the point of genres. Of course, I use hate intentionally, if you don't quite like one DM band you may like another, but that's not the same as hating/disliking them. If somebody dislikes metalcore music in general then it's safe to infer that they will dislike Trivium. That's why genres matter, they save time.

Ryan Hutton Yeah that's true but my comment is aimed at people that hate Trivium and other bands because they supposedly ''try to be something they're not''. That's seriously the only reason some people hate them. (Go read some of the comments and see for yourself.) I'm just saying that the genre doesn't matter if you like the sound of the band. Let's say you hate metal core. If for some strange reason, you come across a metal band that adds something unique to their music that you really like. You like it enough that you decide you like the band, but then you learn the band metal core. Does that mean you have to hate it?

@BxxDxx Hoodoo the gear has absolutely nothing to do with the chords and drum beat they're playing. Their cover of Master Of Puppets has the Trivium tone and it does sound like Metallica because they're playing those chords and drum beat. The only thing that sounds like Metallica in this Trivium album is Matt's voice because he does mimic James. Matt has even said this. The voice is the only thing that sounds like Metallica. The instrumentation sounds zero nothing like Metallica because Trivium are playing their own tone not Metallica and Trivium are playing their own chords and drum beat not Metallica. Not to mention this whole album isn't even thrash. There's a few songs that are not.

Ignore that. It's about an ancient Chinese story about a school of Koi who tried swimming up a river and up a waterfall. Demons mocked them and increases the waterfall out of malice until one koi managed to make it up top. So the koi was turned into a golden dragon for its determination

From Bulbapedia: "Magikarp's evolution into Gyarados is based on a legend about how carp that leaped over the Dragon Gate would become dragons. Several waterfalls and cataracts in China are believed to be the location of the Dragon Gate. This legend is an allegory of the drive and efforts needed to overcome obstacles. This may have inspired an element in Pokémon Snap where, after certain steps are taken, a Magikarp will splash its way into a waterfall where it evolves. "

I remember when I first bought The Crusade while I was in high school and not knowing who is Trivium and I was hooked. In fact, my die-hard metalhead parents were like "Son, who the hell play this music?" I said "Trivium....." and they started headbang hard and said "they kick ass unlike any bands today on radio included metallica who just made st. anger". They've been headbanging since Dave Mustaine played with Cliff and Metallica.

Huge props to Trivium for performing inside an oven. The heat waves blur the image sometimes, but I watched till the end and they survived for sure

mod2vids4u My opinion is: 1. In Waves 2. Shogun 3. Vengeance Falls 4. The Crusade 5. Ascendancy 6. Ember to Inferno Not that I dont like ember but I think that Matt needed to mature his vocals more. I think he reached that point with Crusade.

Christian Banks I haven't really listened to enough of the Crusade and Ember to inferno to really cast judgement, all I know is that Acendancy is fucking amazing! You have probably their 2 biggest hits "Pull harder Strings Martyr" and "Gunshot to the head" and then the super underrated title track that kicks so much ass!
