Can we all agree that a playthrough of the whole album is a must and would be extremely welcome? This one as another comment here states...shows that the drums are way busier than I thought, it would be so great to hear the likes of Damocles, Abbatoir and court of the dragon
When WTDMS came out Alex was filming some playthrough videos, like he did with TSATS, he streamed the "making of" but in the end don't really know what happened, those videos were never uploaded
Alex is an absolute beast of a drummer, and he makes it look effortless. Even as a guitarist I find some of the best parts of the newest 3 albums being the drumming. Tl;dr, yes, more drum cam please! Seconded 😂
Agreed, Alex is a very musical drummer and he comes up with lots of interesting patterns. Alex joining the band was the best decision Trivium has made in years!
@@Feercholain the guy's got a pentagram tattoo so he's a cool guy. Probably knows all the best drummers too. It's obvious he just wanted a little attention.
As good as Travis was for Trivium, it's not even close. Alex is just light years beyond him and has revitalised Trivium at a time when it's incredibly hard to bring new creativity into an old band. The early stuff of any band is always likely to be the best, since it's when they were at their best creatively. Can you even imagine the stuff Alex could have brought to Trivium if he were their original drummer? I know Travis has some iconic parts in their best albums, but when you listen closely to a lot of the tracks his playing is sloppy and generic for the majority. Someone as creative and technically proficient as Alex could have elevated their early material to another level.
Mr. Alex Bent almost makes this seem too simple..... Masterclass getting to see all of what goes on in the song, yet makes it look so effortless. Thankyou Trivium and Alex for such amazing musicianship
Hot dang, not gonna lie though, did not expect there to be so much happening in this. Like yeah knew it was technical but damn, whole new perspective. Love your work Alex, you absolute beast.
I remember when this album first came out, I recognized this song as being Alex's best work on the whole album. I'd love to see a drum playthrough for "Shadow Of The Abattior", it's my favorite song on the album and this song is my 2nd favorite.
Whether Alex is your favorite drummer or not, no-one can deny hs talent and professionalism! I've always said that you can always tell a good drummer not just in what they play but how they play. Their posture, relaxed jaw (which truly plays a part in your playing) and fluidity around their kit. There's many clues to a great drummer/percussionist by just watching THEM as they play.... and Alex is definitely everything a drummer should be! 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
Absolute beast drumming... I love how direct yet complex the composition is in the main chorus beat. It sounds like 'just' sixteenth notes, but those sixteenth notes are EVERYWHERE and the sound is 10x more full and dynamic than if it were just tom rolls and simple fills.
Thank you so much for sharing this!! My favourite drum track by far from the album; the intro is so beautifully complex with the combination of those two simultaneous melodies with the toms and the cymbals… This is pure ART. Thanks for your music!
It's 7.40am in Malaysia.. I'm having nasi lemak as breakfast while watching latest video from Alex, drumming. What a great day to start 💪🏼🤘🏼 **I always love that 6x hit on the bell
This song always drove me crazy as I could never fully visualize how that drum opening was humanly possible and now that I have finally seen it I am in awe
from the first listen on release day, the drums in this song stood out amongst the rest. always a pleasure to see an Alex Bent drum playthrough! cant wait to see what the future brings us.
This has given me a whole new appreciation for the song. I don't know why but having the drums amplified and in my face just opens the whole thing up for me.
One of my favourite Trivium songs because of the awesome drums. I am so excited that this video exists now, I have been wishing for it for ages :') what a legend
OH shit yes from the day the album launched i was waiting for this video, one of my favourites on the album and couldn't wait to see that mind melting intro/chorus you created. Absolute machine/
Same here, I loved all of his drum playthroughs on The Sin And The Sentence and was really hoping to get some drum playthroughs for this album. This song is even more intricate than I could tell from the studio version, Alex is a magician on the drums!
Alex going full on beast mode! Easily on my list of top drummers ever since I first heard him! Thanks a bunch, Alex, for letting us see your insane skill set on this monster song!
Man, such a busy drum track, really pulls together the flow of this song though, awesome seeing it with the solo performance. Excellent job at orchestration!
Hell yes, finally! I've been waiting for a Drum Playthrough of this song since I've heard it on the album for the first time. I love the intro part and creativity throughout the song. As usual Alex makes it look wayyy easier than it is xD
For a band not afraid to adopt new aged modern ideas and techniques in all aspects of the band, it’s so refreshing to see that you guys have kept an emphasis on having an actual drummer play actual drum parts on actual drums with a focus on performance and recording quality.
This is a really underappreciated song.. the breakdown at 2:55 is my favorite Trivium breakdown of all time.. such a great riff, impossible not to stank face when it hits!
Are you kidding me 😂 look at iggor cavelra, Mike Smith, nils fjelstrom Pete sandoval, those guys helped shape aggressive styles of drumming and the techniques they utilise paved the way for guys like this so to say he's the best in this generation your way off 😂😂
Alex is a very musical drummer and he comes up with lots of interesting patterns. Alex joining the band was the best decision Trivium has made in years!
Alex looks so relaxed while playing the drums, he feels like an early SFM animation back when people didn't yet make the torso move alongside the limbs.
This is straight up some Neil Peart level playing, and I don't think most even realize it. I've seen Trivium many times, always knew Alex gave the most solid performances, but never ever comprehended it at this level. Thanks for putting this on display, I'll be listening to Trivium again for a month straight now lol. \m/
There are a lot of great drummers in the world, but few these days match the artistry demonstrated by Alex Bent. This man has found the perfect balance of technical ability, rhythm, and creativity.
Simply amazing. I would love to see some more playthrough videos from you. Especially some songs of The Sin and the Sentence, and on the older songs, to see how you play them. Keep up the amazing work.
I remember when this album first came out, I recognized this song as being Alex's best work on the whole album. I'd love to see a drum playthrough for "Shadow Of The Abattior", it's my favorite song on the album and this song is my 2nd favorite.
God the way his hands FLOAT around the set so effortlessly. Honestly one of the most impressive things to me is during the verses, those 3 splash hits he does, while maintaining a blast beat (? i don't actually know what that is lol) with the kick and snare. Seamlessly transitioning his right hand from fast eighths to a slow tresillo, so good
My favourite deep cut on the album! My favourite part being the switch up at 2:56 ! First time I heard that part, it instantly grabbed my attention and I knew this song was gonna be one of my favourites!
