I noticed that... as a self proclaimed rhythm guitarist, I can't imagine playing the stuff he plays while singing/screaming... he's certainly come a long way
Everyone in Avatar are so down to earth. They said in an interview that they all grew as a band together and learned how to play after making the band back when they were kids. Those kinds of stories are so rare and it's so humbling.
@@provoke1634 No; he went home to be with his wife because her then-upcoming childbirth was having complications. He might have come back for a later tour, but he's definitely back for the new album.
For those complaining about the vocals... Try to imagine what Howard and Johannes are going through. Not only do they have to perform their own sets every night of the tour, but they now have to perform for another hour and a half of someone else's set that they probably didn't have a whole lot of time to rehearse. Taking that into account, I think this is nothing short of amazing. Thank you for uploading this video, Jared. I'm excited to see what's next for you.
shinigamilord86 You do know that even tho I’m not good singer, I can still have opinions... and my opinion just happens to be that they don’t sound good with these songs
Poppa my common sense tells me Howard was doing just enough to make the show go on seeing as he has his own bands set to worry about. i can’t blame him for that. also his vocal range doesn’t seem to correlate well with Triviums guitar tuning. i could be wrong but i’m pretty sure Killswitch and his other band tune lower than Trivium and he never sounds like this with those bands
It takes a huge balls and high level of musicianship to do a show without a lead singer-guitarist. Corey and Paolo are not the best vocalists in business but they manage to transition from backing to lead vocalists and giving the circumstances they nailed it. It is really noticable that Jared was scared AF but he did a great job too. That's a band of professionals.
Lol they did not even closely nail that. I have not heard that off pitch singing since I saw a bad singing compilation like a month ago. If I were at that show I would demand a refund because thats awful
@@karolkozak64 well considering he had very little time to rehearse and he also had to do his own set as well, I think he did better than I would have expected
@@liamgideon9423 you know what.. you're right. I think the main reason, though, could be his register. He's really well equipped for those low tuned songs, he's always been in bands who dig that drop b drop c stuff. Matt is higher up on the register i guess and their tunes fit him more naturally without too much hassle.
At 44:58 you can just tell Jared is living his dream. Just imagine how Jared was feeling at that exact moment. You're unbelievably talented, Jared. Respect!
songs that Corey & Paolo sings alone: Into the Mouth of Hell We March 17:20 Like Light to the Flies 24:33 A Gunshot to the Head of Tripidation 47:05 Down From the Sky 01:05:00
I would've payed BIG money to see that show. Not because I dislike Matt Heafy but because that's a once in a lifetime viewing experience Also how 'bout that solo section for Gunshot \m/
I was at the spokane show and during Gunshot they pulled a dude from the crowd and he played guitar on stage. seriously one of the best shows i ever saw, i will never see another Trivium show like that again.
You could tell his voice was feeling it after into the mouth like he had to take alot of water and it sounded shot but at the same time we got to see how awesome his voice has become
It’s so surreal to see Jared doing bigger and better things! Been a fan since the start and it’s been a hell of a journey. Keep it up, dude :) That live mix is bangin, too
Holy shit, so glad to see Johannes (and Avatar by extension) get more and more recognition! Avatar is a fantastic band! Howard and Jared killed it too!
Johannes speech before Pull Harder was beautiful. Reminded me somewhat of when Papa of Ghost talked about Birds and the Bees when I saw them a year ago +. Haha.
Johannes... I've seen Avatar twice in the last ~year, and all I can say is - the guy is a fuckin' beast. One of the best frontman's I've ever seen. Stage presence, respect for his audience, the amount of effort he puts into his shows... If any of you will ever get the chance to see Avatar live - go and see them. Money well spent. Well worth it.
Paolo has done a lot of work on his vox, when Matt blew his voice out a few years ago, both Corey and Paolo stepped up and improved their vox, you can tell bc if you watch an older Trivium show, Paolo does not sound great.
And to think they decide to record this on a day when paolo wasn't at his best. You can hear his voice break and crack a couple of times but you can tell it's from fatigue as he's not used to doing this much singing or warming up for this amount of vox
Matt and Howard have two different ranges. It was clear to me with this performance that there was a mix of exhaustion from Howard's vocal chords and inexperience with singing the lyrics enough to really get them down pact. The man deserves respect for playing two sets for a man that left to be with his pregnant wife. Massive respect to everyone that contributed.
Pitchiness always sounds enunciated on soundboard mixes like these, it's the most unforgiving form of listening. Considering Howard had to do so much extra work this tour - and he's 48 with diabetes - his vocals are still powerful. The screams/roars give me le nostalgia.
Agreed. Howard sounded fantastic at this show. It's easier to find imperfections on clean soundboard audio. Howard killed it. Jared killed it. Johannes killed it. It was an experience of a lifetime and I will never forget it.
I am so happy seeing Corey and Paolo doing great vocal performance. I knew that Corey is a beast able to both play hard af riffs and scream, but Paolo really impressed me
back again after a couple years. just love how everyone stepped up to the plate for this show..Corey the real super hero here IMO. Side note, Johanns intro to pull harder was epic
I think having Johannes as a guest vocalist every now and again would be awesome. He adds a really interesting dynamic to the band I don't really know how to put it 😂
I was at this show, and to me, it's my Woodstock. It was a once in a life time show. When Brandon came out and sang, it was the cherry on the sundae. Jared, you nailed it. You only were supposed to play 2 songs, right? Matt left, and he left the tour in good hands.
I saw this tour before Matt had to go home. It was so awesome to have Jared and Howard on stage for Wrethedness and In Waves. Avatar killed it as always.
Was there for the last show in Berkeley. Was so cool to see both jared in person and Trivium live for the first time! They absolutely killed! Also Johannes's speech on Matt at 1:15:16 was one of my favorite parts that night. Awesome musicians and awesome personalities. Rock on guys \m/
Well we needed at least one of them to have all their parts down and of course, as co-lead guitarist and the experience he's had over the years, I would hope so.
obviously, amazing job by everyone involved. What an amazing experience. Can we take a moment to appreciate the setup that Johannes did for martyr? Seriously, I was dying.
You legitimately blow my mind. Learning their set list on such short notice couldn’t have been an easy task, but you pulled it off. Just proves how talented you are. First class job Jared. I can’t wait to see where you are in another five years. 🤘🏻
That must have been so unbelievably awesome. I've had the fortune of being in the opening band for some really great bands and actually played a show with Howard when he sang for Blood Has Been Shed, but to be playing a whole set and a basically a whole tour with all those guys must have been the greatest feeling ever. Congrats man on having that oppurtunity and I wish you continued success in all you do.

Never knew this existed. Amazing show. Big respect for everyone filling in. Just killer shower. And that intro into Pull Harder was just a masterpiece.
Man I just came back to this video. It's incredible to think how good they played. Jared did great on the guitar, Howard and Johannes were incredible to learn the songs so quickly. This was something special to see and listen.Thank you all! You made my day
@@trendkill3333 Who is they? Matt doesn't do it? M.Shadows doesn't do it, Jesse Leach doesn't do it, most metalcore bands don't do it. He has awful mic technique that muffles his awesome singing voice and makes his screams sound like hot trash.
@@KolaTheBear In fairness all three of those vocalists are kinda weak live also. I agree that they do not cup the mic & that Howard shouldn't but heafy, shadows & leach all sound very thin or strained live a lot these days. Shadows hardly screams & his lower cleans are nose fuelled notes... quite literally. Leach has been meh in every recent killswitch set i've seen where as heafy has great pitching for cleans & screams but he lacks power/projection for me, especially on his cleans. Touring life takes it's toll after so many years I guess.
This DVD is so surreal man. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, I thank life for letting me watch this, follow your work and also fanboy like I didn't on a long time. Jared, you really are a thing, first video I saw was 10 styles of vocalist, and watching you over the years is nothing but so awesome that, I never imagined you will playing with trivium alongisde such great vocalist. May the life itself give me the chance to see you live and invite you a beer if possible. You deserve it man, and great things will be on the way, you will see! Love from Venezuela!
@@brunorangel1739 seems you don't know ANYTHING about music, you can not affect the pitch by cupping any mic, you just add some fake "reverb" and power... It can be not so bas when used for some short moment but he can't stop doing it... proof of his voice has lost all power and deepness
Yo Jared.. I just wanna say Bro..I was born in 90. Shadows Fall and Still Remains was my first concert when I was 16. Second show was Trivium and KSE. and As I Lay Dying. I think I can speak for every other shredder in here like us .. That you lived our dream of playing on stage with multiple epic metal legends in a single show all at once. One day our paths will cross my friend \m/, - Stevie C
Paolo sings very well!! I'm really impressed of the whole show. Everyone did a great job and it takes balls to play a show without the lead singer. That said, I love Matt Heafy and Trivium in general.
Big fan, had tickets to the show in Calgary and knew it was going to a wicked set!!! Then heard you where touring with them and was so stoked to go, ended up having to work night shift so I could not make it... So glad you posted this video, Got to see what I would have missed... Sick set boys!!! Trivium has been my favourite band for years!!! Would have been sick to see you play with them, and light the touch would have been wicked too, But you on guitar would have made the whole concert for me... Thanks again, Keep up the great work Love your channel
Was up there the whole show just incase and by the looks of things it only got used once. Although I think Howard should have just stood there reading off considering how many times he handed it off to the crowd
This is probably my favorite video on your youtube channel to date. So glad to see all the progress and how far you've come. Amazing performance. Johannes was a monster.
This is so good. Well edited. Nice shots. Good balance of crowd participating and stage activity. Special show. So cool this extraordinary show was taped and shared in such good quality.
As someone who was in the second row, I can honestly say that seeing Jared's massive amount of joy was maybe the best part of this set. However: JARED! You should've done some vocals! We know you can! XD
Who ever was at a Trivium show knows that they are doing the live instrumentals to a grade of perfection which is awesome!!! Alex took that to the next level. What amazes me the most is that all the songs of the different albums are fitting perfectly together. Even Songs as 'Until the World Goes Cold' are pure Energy. Thank you for this full Set, it makes me happy. Only next time let Johannes sing more Songs, didn't expect him to fit that well. Cheers.
28:54 is just pure fu***** epicness! Just sharing this particular scene on stage with Trivium in front of all these fans. Jared you did a fantastic job with Howard at replacing Matt. MASSIVE PROPS!
So unreal to see the vocalist of my favourite band (Johannes) and my biggest inspiration and favourite youtuber (you jared) on one stage with freakin trivium. I'm jealous in a good way. This is what keeps me going on ! Thank you m8 ! amazing performance from ALL of you !
Holy shit!! A pro-shot of the show with soundboard recording!! Feels funny to even say it but I'd bet Matt is easier to "replace" in a live setting than Corey would be. That dude is an absolute over-achiever haha! THANK YOU for posting this!!
So stoked for you Jared. I've watched you go from silly skits and djent songs, to making one of my favourite songs ever (Rebuild), to shredding solos centre stage for a band and songs that I (and presumably you) grew up loving (and with another legendary frontman). You look like you're having the time of your life and I feel that watching you!
