Torn between Scylla and Charybdis is another incredible track off this album. 7 min of catchy, heavy, shredding.

I‘m 23 now and a Metalhead since I was 12 years. As someone who always was the quiet kid and the outcast in school, never had much friends, I delved more and more into the realms of heavy metal. And what I have to say is that metal probably saved me from going insane. It‘s just such passionate and honest music for me. I grew up in a small village, where the church has very high impact on the people, certainly not good kind of influence. So I‘m normally very hateful (not the right word, as it is very powerful) against all kinds of organized religion, I personally think religion should always be something personal. To come to my point: Your channel showed me, that there will always be open minded people that make good points and explain what they believe in without shoving their beliefs down people‘s throats. Great concept, this fucked up world needs more people like you, it would definetively a better place. So thanks for your content, I really learnt a lot from christianity, when you explain things and it just shows, how misunderstood it is (religion in general). All the best wishes from me, keep on doin ya great work! P.S.: I would really love a reaction to Nevermore‘s Heart collector, I‘m having a very complicated love-life right now and this song really helps me get ghrough all this, such great lyrics, Warren Dane (R.I.P., he passed away) was such an underrated singer and lyricist. Shogun is the best Trivium era, their newest album is incredible as well

Shogun by Trivium is one of the most uniquely produced albums in all of Metal. The guitar tone is raw. It's not overly produced or sitting behind layers of effects to be polish perfect and I find that to be rare nowadays. They are also consistent on their format. They write each song to have sectional riffs, three vocal types, and a dedicated guitar solo from both Corey and Matt. It's rare to find something as consistent as this, Matt's vocals tearing through the rhythm guitars with cleans, yells, and growls is something that has only been done in Shogun. Then it transitions to a riff for the solo and you can feel Corey and Matt's tendinitis flaring up as they shred through those sequence of notes with a combination of 16th note speed picking and sweeping arpeggios at light speed. Then a breakdown where you get to hear Matt roaring like a lion over some of the gnarliest most chunkiest 7 string guitar riffs one can play before the song falls into the grace of a melody that is the chorus before it concludes. This is what I call a Masterpiece. 9/10 Iron Maiden cover kind of blows.

This whole album is amazing. My favorite Trivium album easily. Such an epic song and album

I actually saw Trivium live at The Magic City Music Hall in Binghamton Ny before Trivium truly broke out and become so popular and those guys as individuals are just truly amazing and very down to earth...my favorite song by Trivium has got to be The Deceived off their first major album..anyways congratulations to u guys on expecting a new child into this world I'll say a prayer for everything to go smoothly for u guys thanx again for the amazing video/review God bless u both and ur family/families

What you said about them being in the zone for this song can really be applied to the whole Shogun album honestly, it's absolutely their most musically complex and progressive album.

Trivium is imo one of the perfect gateway bands into the metal scene. Their catalog alone covers many sides of metal and tell so many fascinating stories. Can't wait to see you two do more from them.

A. They weren't using kamikaze at Pearl Harbor. That was not until late in the war, when the Americans were getting quite close to Japan- trained fighter pilots were almost all dead already- they didn't have time to train new pilots properly and in desperation they started training young men and boys very quickly how to fly and use their planes as missiles. The mentality among some, many, was that they would rather die to the last person before allowing their country to be conquered or destroyed. B. Bushido is a code about serving one's master unquestioningly and unfailingly- the highest honor is to die in service. It's a code for the warrior caste (the samurai) to devote themselves to nothing but fighting for the honor of their leader(whomever that happens to be). C. Shoguns were warrior chieftains, who fought each other with armies and samurai for control of Japan for centuries. The Bushido code grew out of this environment of constant warfare, reinforced by a fairly strict caste system.

The whole shogun album was peak trivium. Every song on it is epic. Catapulted them to my favourite band at the time

Trivium during their prime...still to this day this is their best album.

"Bushido" is the samurai code of honour. "Shogun" is the military ruler of Japan, at least classically. I believe the Prime Minister of Japan still holds the honorary title of "Shogun" . It doesn't have the same connotation of "Mighty Warrior General" as it once did, I believe.

Shogun was probably one of the greatest metal records of the late 2000's or perhaps even the whole 2000-2010 decade, truly awe inspiring music. I gotta shout out a request for Architects again simply because I know you guys will absolutely love them for their lyrics and topics covered, even though you may not agree with all of their views I think you will appreciate their commitment to making real music that actually connects to people & makes them think, of course their music is excellent too. :P

The Crusade and Shogun are two favorite Trivium albums so far. Shogun is probably their most technical, I would compare it as it’s Trivium’s version of Metallica’s And Justice For All album. The Crusade was their third album and the first not to feature any metalcore influences like they did from their first two albums. It marks the band maturing from a simple metalcore theme to a more solid heavy and thrash metal sound.
