That was the beginning of a 15 second "tag" for another "Big G" cereal, "Frosty O's" (with Chumley's picture on it). That kind of commercial usually had Chumley [or Baldy the eagle] try to eat the cereal, only to have Tennessee Tuxedo intervene, declaring "Sorry! Frosty O's are made for breakfast!".
I can hear the famed Jay Ward sound effects when the rabbit pulls the carrot (several things in common then with Ward-----Total TV and Ward had same sponsor, same animation studio except for this ad, and same sound effects).
Yes, because this commercial originally appeared on "TENNESSEE TUXEDO AND HIS TALES", which was primarily sponsored by General Mills [Chumley also appeared on their Frosty O's boxes at the time].
Surreal, because we get a rabbit that acts like Tuxedo zookeeper-atagonist Stanley Livingston AND Tennessee himself (as well as countless other cartoons including a certain top bunny who appeared in an ad or two with im!) Marshall also did that voice for Klondike Kat, a still different TTV characvter...Can ya just imagine Stanley, the Rabbit, Tennssee and BFF Chumley..
