Sorry for another comment, Pastor reminded me. A week or so ago, on a Christian video somewhere, there was a young man who said in comments that he read one of John MacArthur's books and the way to Salvation was at the back of the book. He had asked for help (and no one answered as yet) as he said there was just "NO way he could live up to that" and he was afraid he'd go to Hell. I praise God that I had the chance to tell him the TRUTH, that Jesus paid it ALL for us, and ALL glory to God, I was able to tell him the TRUE Gospel. (Praise you again, Lord, for that opportunity!) He was so CRUSHED! NO believer should feel that way, nope, and my heart was crushed reading all he wrote. Jesus paid every single one of the sins of mankind. When He cried, "It is Finished!!" is was DONE, paid in FULL, Tetelestai in the Greek.. Paid in FULL! Thank You, Jesus!!
@@JesusPaidItAll Whoa! Was that YOU? I remember that the person said that it was like a checklist! And you're here, and I BELIEVE I said to see this church or Pastor Yankee Arnold.. Was that you?? Praise GOD you have the truth! \o/ Isn't our God awesome? God bless you!!
For a more Scriptural understanding of what the death and resurrection of Christ actually accomplished, I invite you to watch our video called, "The Whole Gospel", where we explore this in detail. May you be blessed in your pursuit of truth.
It's because they don't understand how simple the gospel is. We do good works not to earn salvation, I look at it I don't want to hurt God by doing what he doesn't like
I am one of those people who was raised under the bondage of Lordship salvation and thus was left hopeless which led to making some really horrible choices. However, God brought me to hear Biblical truth and my life has completely changed bc of His grace and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Before understanding the truth of the Gospel, I never spoke about Jesus…now I can’t keep my mouth shut! It’s absolutely glorious to KNOW I’m a child of God and that no man can pluck me out of His hand ❤️Praise God for who He is and what He has done for anyone who chooses to trust in His sin debt solution!!!
I seek to live a godly life, not because I have to, but because I want to. Why do I want to live a godly life? Because I am so grateful to God for saving me that I want to show that gratitude by pleasing Him.
That is how God knows you love him. The Try or Fry Lordship Salvationists love God because (a) God controls them and (b) they have strings attached: God I will bear fruit as long as this evidences that you are saving me. Far from fruits being evidence of salvation, it is more like my fruits are evidence of your deity to save me.
Just a question out of curiosity. As Christians, do we have the choice to do good or evil? Are works not being obedient to the One who saved us. Of course we are not saved by our works but should we remain the same after salvation? I am not implying that after Salvation we become perfect but shouldn't there be some evidence of being a child of God
@@allysonp2254 I agree. I believe God put that example into the scriptures so that salvation can be crystal clear concerning repent and believe. That clear example destroys works salvation for anyone that will hear his voice.
This is one of the best explanations I have heard on this topic. I can not express enough how much the "works" based teaching destroys instead of building up the believer. Im 44 and grew up under this kind of false teaching. I have struggled most of my life with this, but I am beginning to see that it is only through Jesus that I am saved. Thank you for this.
I’ve come to end of myself! Works not going to help me. End of this argument. Jesus paid it ALL! When people call this “cheap” grace, I think to myself, the blood of Jesus is the most expensive thing in the entire world, what’s cheap is you trying to add your filthy rags of works to the glorious beautiful unbelievable work on Calvary. How self-righteous to think any man could work his way to heaven. Thank you for this GLORIOUS message!!!
Love this excellent message on the true grace of God without works by simply trusting in the finished work on the cross by our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless.
Roman Catholicism is exactly the same kind of fear 24/7. Praise God for delivering me from it. Now I hope my family will be delivered from it too before it is too late for them.
@@thomasn3882 Catholics, Calvinist Protestants, Mormons AND Jehovah's Witnesses ALL believe in Lordship Salvation aka Works Salvation. It's disgusting. Discipleship is not a requirement for salvation.
Thank you so much for this series. I am attending a baptist church with pastors and leadership who are Calvinists and teaching it in Bible lessons and worship sermon. I haven’t been able to find anything and yes, this subject has been tormenting me, day and night. I believe they are emphasizing repentance for salvation, which is a work.
Concerning MacArthur, wouldn’t giving up everything include not just his life if need be, put also his wealth, investments, salary and profits from his MacArthur study Bible’s etc.!
That's the point. No one ever truly "gives it all up" for Christ. Why? Because we are sinners. We are incapable of keeping the law in its entirety which is what the law demands. And that's the reason why Jesus came to save us from our sin. Those like MacArthur have a low view of God. They think there are a certain set of commandments that you must keep. And that standard changes from individual to individual. It's nothing more than a lie.
Yeah it's funny how these preachers never put THEIR MONEY where their mouth is and lead by example, but they don't mind coveting what we have, even if it's your last penny.
@@faith_alone I wouldn't even attempt to judge a man on what he has because I don't know his heart. I have no idea what Macarthur gives or how much he makes. I do know briefly what he does, has done and some book accomplishments. You can't make a case from the young rich man that asked Jesus what he must do, obviously the context was that Jesus knew his heart and that was something the man held in high priority over everything else. As far as lordship salvation or what ever you want to call it doesn't sound correct as how you are breaking it down. This I know, I'm saved by grace through my faith. So now what? Do I just continue to live as life as usual because after all I have my ticket in. Shouldn't I make my flesh submit and deny passions, lusts & evil through Jesus Christ, shouldn't I crucify my flesh, shouldn't I live holy? While a few of the brothers go out for a few drinks and I decline because I don't want to dilute the Holy Spirit's leading, so I get accused of what you call lordship salvation. Is this because it makes you feel better that I'm probably doing something you should be doing and identifying you may be sinning? No matter what I do would never be enough to earn salvation if I wasnt saved but I am saved and while I'm in this flesh I can do what I can to deny it for evil because I love my God, I love my Lord for what he did for me, I don't want to grieve the Holy Spirit either so I will live doing my utmost best not to sin, the Holy Spirit gives me more and more strength to do this as I submit and it gives me great joy. Does it anger the non believer & the one who says they are born again but shows no fruit to that that I'm like this? Truly, really, I'm asking. If one claims to be born again because he said he believes and he does well but the demons believe too, he goes to church because he feels he has to now but can6wait to get home and watch the game, he has to go to work tomorrow and fit in with the the others but no body will know he's a Christian, he'll drive home, get tail gates & cut off and angered so bad he'll give them sign language and so stop at the liquor store for a few beers. I ask if that man is really born again or decieved and I get told I'm a calvanist because that is lordship salvation?? Shouldn't we go about our conversion working out our salvation as a continual process trying to please God as much as possible even though we could never achieve perfection or sanctification in the flesh but for a fully denying this flesh and pushing temptation and desires back into satans face as the Holy Spirit gives us the strength to do it? Do we really just sit on our hands and claim it's all on auto pilot, Jesus paid my sin debt, I'm heaven bound and there is nothing more I can do so let me just enjoy life?
Matthew 7: 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? They are listing off the works they were relying on to save them and it's heart breaking to know how many fellow believers are struggling with the condemnation that comes from these false teachers who appear as ministers of righteousness.
You are absolutely correct. Lordship salvation is a "doctrine of demons" and an extremely effective one I might add. It prevents countless lost people from getting saved and at the same time confuses some real believers on the issue. The end result of it is a total lack of assurance of salvation as well as arrogance that they are helping God out with their salvation. I do believe some, probably a lot, of these people are saved, but got confused later on by Calvinistic teachers. I'm thankful I didn't even know anything at all about Calvinism until years after I was born again and God gave me a clear understanding that I was saved forever and could never lose it.
You failed to mention why Jesus says they were condemned in v.23 "And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" "Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment." - John 5:28, 29
@@Jesusandcoffee3382 No, they were condemned because they were "workers of lawlessness" even as the Pharisees (Matthew 23:28). Believers obey Christ (John 5:28, 29).
This has ALWAYS BEEN THE PLAN OF SALVATION AS PRESENTED!!!! WOOOOWWWWW!!!!! SUPER JOB IN STATING THE TRUTH AS SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD AS YOU DID!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! 😊
Roman's 4:5-6 is what did it for me. That is contrary to what they teach. I was born into Catholic home, followed calvinist type teaching as an adult, reformed Lutheran. the gospel is simple. We are ALL sinners, there are 2 types of people on earth, unforgiven sinners and forgiven sinners. Forgiven sinners STILL sin but are looked at as righteous by the father through their faith in the Christ, Jesus.
Brother Tom has been much help to me. He has emailed me so much good material and good things. I'm glad to k know him.. and I'm honored to be a family member in Christ's kingdom. I love all my brothers and sisters in christ.. remember the least of all saints your brother Jordan here in your prayers and I'll pray for you all also. Love you guys
Wow, this hit me like a ton of bricks. I heard this sermon right after hearing the "Study Bible" sermon and it has just cleared this heavy heavy burden that has been over my life. It was like a constant battle between the simple and profound grace of God's amazing grace vs Lordship/works etc. Jesus died to set me free and in eternity I will be celebrating that gracious costly gift. God you are so good to me🙏🕊
Keep preaching the truth Dr Cucuzza. I know the Calvinists will berate you since they believe they are the only ones “qualified” through their education. Keep fighting the good fight of faith. I didn’t know you before today but I’m encouraged by your preaching of the Word of God. May the Lord bless and keep you. I look forward to meeting you in heaven 😊
It's amazing how this same distortion permeates all cults and false religions. I was shaken out of my own lordship salvation theology when I gave a presentation of my idea of the gospel to a Jehovah's Witness. When you're staring someone in the face who you know is a works salvationist (to the point of reporting their good deeds in a log book) and they agree completely with your gospel presentation, you know you're in trouble. Likewise, the quotes from Piper sure seem to resonate with the following: "...grace is an enabling power that allows men and women to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation after they have expended their own best efforts. ... However, grace cannot suffice without total effort on the part of the recipient. Hence the explanation, “It is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Ne. 25:23)." Taken from the dictionary section of the book of Mormon, under the definition of the word "grace".
Wow. Yes, the LDS mess is such a trap, such a snare. All works-based. I know an elderly man who's LDS, utterly convinced he's right and he's led his whole family down that path. God still has me semi connected with him, as I believe Father will work thru the 'true atmosphere' of my talks with him!
It's a BIG RED FLAG anytime you hear God's Grace is not sufficient because the Bible says it is. I once was sitting in a non-denominational mega church with hundreds of people in the church, and the pastor said God's grace was not enough if you kept sinning. I walked out and never went back.
@@Kefalonia31 I came out of the works based religion of Mormonism. After reading the first few chapters of Galatians, it was clear to me that Jesus had paid it ALL!!!!! Romans was my second book that I read and it really showed me that it is a gift, it is Jesus alone, I'm a sinner in need of a Savior and that there is no one that is good, no not one!!!! It also taught me that I was secure in my salvation because it says, there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. The next book I read was the book of John. I got to know my Savior in that book and that He died for ME and He loves me and that I am a gift that God gave to Him and that nothing will ever snatch me out of His hand.
I so wish I had ran across this message a year ago but I happened on it after prayer . Paul Washer had me bewitched even though I believe that I have been saved since I was ten years old. all I knew back then that I was a sinner and believed in John 3:16 and I asked Jesus Christ to save me. Then came all the doctrine that made me think I needed to be sinless the rest of my life. I am so happy GOD in his Grace not only has saved me but is still helping to understand Grace through Jesus Christ.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Corinthians 11:4 KJV
John 6 v 28-29 is one alot of non-lordship teachers miss and its powerful. 28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Almost every believer in the true gospel of faith alone in Jesus Christ alone that I know came out of some form of false works based damnation. Their is no such thing as easy believism and God's grace is not cheap! It cost Jesus Christ everything!!! God in the flesh is the only one worthy to have been our Passover Lamb. His precious blood cleansed my sins completely. Galatians 2:21 - 'I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.'
Amen God gave me the truth i came out of that repent of your sins but it's impossible !and now false brethren call me proud because i believe osas. I have to avoid them they dont listen
imo, i think whats funny is that when it comes to "easy belivism", yknow people who are church goers, if you ask them how they're saved, they say they are going to heaven because they attend church and "never did any sin" (by their definition of sin), which is ironically still works based, just that its called CHEAP "grace" (lazy church devotion) compared to its hardcore counterpart, Lordship Salvation (diehard works-based devotion). This is how i perceive this lol, God bless! Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
It was this teaching, and it's devastating effect on my confidence in Christ alone, that began to open my eyes to the errors on Calvinism. This sermon does a good job of articulating the errors in an understandable way. Thank you!
As far as I know, Lordship Salvation says that in order for a person to be saved, they must at the very least make Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Lord of their life and put their faith in Him that they will be saved by God's Grace. I've never heard is defined as the "P" in TULIP, "Perseverance of the Saints." It doesn't seem to match?
In this topic the preacher failed to address/reconcile the passages in the book of James. Faith is always accompanied by obedience/action. Scripture is also filled with passages that Jesus is not only our Savior but He is also Lord (see letters of John, Acts, Romans, etc.) The great commission recorded in Matthew 28 indicates that disciples be thought to obey everything He commanded.
You are mixing salvation with fellowship. Once we are saved we should do good works to have fellowship with God. But salvation is distinctly achieved through believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again to prove it was done. John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Lordship 'Salvation' is the bane of contemporary evangelicalism whether in it's Calvinist or Arminian versions and it's everywhere. Failure to rightly divide forensic justification from practical sanctification lies at it's root. It is not the Gospel and no way can it be considered Good News.
Me too. Lordship salvation garbles the gospel of grace alone through faith alone in the blood atonement alone for salvation. Lordship salvation puts people in serious bondage. Soooooooo many people are deceived by it. I have debated so many on social media who subscribe to Lordship salvation and those who teach it. They are mean, haughty, arrogant, argumentative. Bad fruit.
Just getting into this video, Pastor Tom (just finished Trojan Horse part 1), and am looking forward to this message. I know it’ll be a blessing! Jim in Oklahoma
I am perfectly SURE I'm a true believer and have been since April 3, 1977. I thank God I never knew about all these garbage doctrines of the Calvinists when God saved me and gave me eternal life. I just admitted I was a sinner on my way to hell and believed Christ died for my sins and rose again. Boom, I was instantly and permanently born again AND I KNEW IT THEN AND I STILL KNOW IT NOW. I can't even imagine just how messed up some of these Calvinists are day in and day out, but I've interacted with enough of them and read enough of their teachings to know how messed up they are in their false doctrines. I question the salvation of many of them since they do not truly believe the sacrifice at Calvary of the Son of God is all-sufficient for our salvation and we get it simply by believing on the name of the Son of God. Jesus PAID IT ALL, ALL TO HIM I OWE. WHAT CAN WASH AWAY MY SINS? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS! No Calvinist can sing those songs and really believe they are correct. Calvinism is serious and damnable HERESY. If I didn't have a rock-solid assurance of salvation the Lordship and repentance heresies of the Calvinist would have quite literally destroyed me as I'm sure it has many others.
Thank you pastor for preaching the one and only true Gospel. By appplying the salvation requirements of calvinism or lordship salvation, Paul, by his own admission, would then be unsaved since he did not perservere when he says "That which I want to do, I do not. And that which I do not want to do, I do..." Just like the pharisees, the calvanists and lordship believers, try to hold onto the keys to heaven and when they are done with a person they have drawn into their "false gospel", that person is 10 times more the devil than before! Keep speaking the truth!❤🙏
Pastor Tom, you are awesome Brother for going the distance on this topic! I live in Florida, but you and your church are being well educated on know what Jesus Christ did for us. It's no wonder that Paul wrote that we are more than conquerors through and because of Christ! God bless you!!!!
Thank you soooooooo much Pastor Cucuzza for your boldness to teach this and to expose its heresy, regarding Lordship salvation; and those who willfully continue to teach it after they have been warned countless times of its unbiblical doctrine. If you don't get the gospel right, nothing else matters. Sadly, soooooooo many people who have/are caught up in the false doctrine of Lordship salvation and Calvinism; which are NOT the true gospel of grace alone through faith alone in trusting in the BLOOD ATONEMENT alone for salvation of Jesus Christ alone according to scripture alone. I have encountered that most people who have or are accepting these false doctrines. They rather be right in their own minds than to be biblically corrected to what scripture alone says. As scripture says... 2 Timothy 4:3-4. 3. For the time will come they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (grk. falsehoods, not sound doctrine).
Hi This such a great series Pastor, as for being secure eternally in Christ I love this verse. John 6:39 NKJV This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
Thanks be too our God,and Savior Christ Jesus, for comforting Truths, taught by this Pastor When my wife of 42 years passed away over 5 years ago after a 9 year boat with Brian cancer she was a strong believer I went from being in a fog , too being in total darkness I'm a believer When I realized it's God's faithfulness not mine And Him holding on too me Not me holding on too Him What a burden that was lifted off of me I had be listening too John MacArthur, that man is a evil, and cruel liar
I really think that there should be a basic “Good News Club” for adults. The curriculum is wonderful and really teaches Ephesians 2: 8-9, John 3:16-17… these two lessons alone show us how good God is.
I'm downloading this.♥️ Thank you and God Bless. 🙂 I listened to John MacArthur for years! And the last church, an alliance church, handed out pamphlets of John MacArthur, John Piper, Charles Stanley. Once, we were all,the whole church, to read a book by Rob Reimer who often frequented a monk monastery where he practiced spiritual formation, among other things. We don't go to that church anymore. Thank you.
The Alliance has gone to the dogs and you would be hard pressed to find a church these days belonging to them that unequivocally proclaims eternal salvation by faith alone in Christ's Finished Work alone. The late and serial lecher Ravi Zacharias was accredited by them and that in itself unfortunately speaks volumes. He was never sound on the Gospel.
@@DW-yl9ww How ya doing with your PERFECT obedience? If you take your interpretation of that verse to it's logical conclusion you MUST live a PERFECT and totally sinless life until you die for starters. If perfect obedience is necessary to get you into heaven you can't sin once and I do mean EVER in your life. The obedience that Jesus Christ demanded in the gospels was to "Believe on Him whom God hath sent." "He that BELIEVETH on the Son HATH everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation but is passed from death unto life." Jesus is the water of life. Have you taken a drink? (See John chapter 6) If so, you have everlasting life. Jesus is the "bread of life" that came from heaven. Have you by faith taken a bite and consumed the bread of life by faith? If so, you were given eternal life by faith the moment you believed in the Lord Jesus Christ you ARE right now saved. What God commands is that you believe in His Son for everlasting life and NOTHING else, especially yourself or your perfect obedience. You are making that verse totally contradict MANY clear verses in the Bible that plainly teach we must believe in Christ for salvation. Obedience does not save you nor does it even help even a little bit. Btw, if you die without PERFECT obedience and have so much as a single sin of any kind on you then I'll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count as to where you're going. Hint, you won't like it forever. John 6:28 "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? John 6:29 "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, THAT YE BELIEVE on him whom he hath sent." John 3:36 " He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." It is faith in Christ that saves anyone, not your making Him Lord or trying your best to obey Him. It would be good for you to admit you're not perfect and you are not right now obeying Christ perfectly and you NEVER will in this life. The obedience for salvation is to obey the gospel MESSAGE!!! Failure to obey the message of the GOSPEL of Christ results in eternal damnation.
This has been such a blessing to me today. Thank you so much. I have been in a class where the pastor over and over again kept saying the Matthew 7:21 scripture and it has really affected me. I have the craziest story too about it. I am attending the First United Methodist Church in my area, and at my church, no one walks the aisle, and why would they since the pastor basically teaches universalism. Because of this, I am convinced that there is a very small number of real truly saved Christians. In my class that I attended, the members were openly talking about attending Mosques and things like that and how awesome it was in my class and the celebration of Eid. I was amazed that would even be brought up in a class. I wanted to step up and teach the class and teach real saving doctrine. I thought, well I am firmly sound in the doctrines of salvation being taught through the teaching of WA Creswell and Charles Swindoll and super-strong in my understanding of Romans, Galatians, and Corinthians, but where I strongly lack is the Johannine Epistles. Because of this, I wanted to take a class on them in case it was brought up in my class, so I signed up for a class that was offered by a very noteworthy pastor in my area. Basically, it was called "The 9 assurances of salvation" and I thought it perfectly aligned with what I wanted to do. So let me tell you about this class... The class from the very start turned my whole idea of the doctrine of salvation upside down. Going in, mind you, again I was rock solid in my understanding on what it meant to be saved and I was fully confident in my relationship with Christ and I had a deep abiding faith that Christ took care of all of it for me. After about 3 classes, I was questioning everything that I had been taught. Over and over again, he told the story of the rich young ruler and Matthew 7:21, and I must say, I was panicking that I had it wrong all along and my teaching over the past 4 years was all false teachings. After about 16 classes, I actually decided not to teach the class since I was unsure of my own salvation, so how in the world am I supposed to teach someone else on it and the burden of knowing that I could be getting it wrong and teaching people false doctrine that would eventually send them to hell is a terrible thought. I posted online last night my questions on a youtube video and they said that it was called Lordship Salvation and that it was a heresy. I wasn't sure about it since I didn't know the source, but I have been watching videos and reading on it all morning and I stumbled upon your video on it and I am so happy that I did. Now, I am trying to decide if I want to finish the class or just find another resource for the material like the WA Creswell Library. So thanks again for this. It set me back on the right track, but I must admit that hearing Lord, Lord is scary and the next pastor that preaches on Lord, Lord, I might just walk out.
The Bible says God hates sin. And as he read it, "the wages of sin is death." But as per this pastor it's ok to be ungodly as long as one believed. He reads only "faith" and forgets everything else as if the Bible and Jesus only speak about faith. Forget being a new creation, forget about the fruit of true belief, forget about denying one's self, forget about dying to sin, forget about the fruit of the Spirit, etc. Imagine having the Spirit and yet the person still lives in sin most of the time - the Bible says that's not possible at all.
God never said he wouldn't punish us for our sins while we are still on earth, as a matter of fact he says the opposite, he will chasten us if we continue to sin. But he only chastens his children (those that have believed). Those that have believed, their sin no longer exempts them from heaven, but they can still be punished for their sins while on earth and God will even go so far as to remove them from earth if they go too far with their sins. Hebrews 12 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 1 Corinthians 11:30 - For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. The word sleep above is another way of saying that a believer has died.
@@jjsmoley the irony is the text you are reffering is about the Lord's Supper, verses 23 to 34. The Communion, the fellowship! Those who lack discernment are weak, sickly, and sleep. Now, does the verse say they die and go to heaven??
@@Hicky33 The Book of Corinthians was written to believers as is evident in: 1 Corinthians 1:2 - Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's: Yes it's referring to the Lord's Supper. But it specifically is talking about how believers were coming to the Lord supper and treating it as an every day meal / party and disrespecting the Lord and each other. The Lord's Supper is meant to be a time of remembrance, somberness, reverence. God punished them for their sin against the Lord's Supper by making them sick, weak, and even causing them to die. Again, that word sleep in this context means death (not just someone taking nap) as is evident in Matthew were the same word was used to talk about resurrection of the old testament saints: Matthew 27:52 - And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, If you need more evidence of God punishing his children just read the story about Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. The only sin they committed was lying and God took their lives.
@@jjsmoley of course God punishes His children, I am not saying that is false. The issue is how come it's ok to say one is a believer/saved and yet living an ungodly life as the maan in the video affirms? How can it be possible to truly follow Jesus yet there really is no true transformation in a person's life? Where now is the Holy Spirit that resides in the believer once the person is born again? Believers do still sin but to say it's not about whether one lives godly or ungodly as the pastor say completely throws out the window what the Bible says of the the mark and fruit of true belief in Christ Jesus. Imagine some of Jesus' followers in His time, following, learning, even doing ministry with Him, and yet still they were ungodly, they still live their sins, nothing changes, even still sliving as the unbelievers do? Could that have been possible? It's just ridiculous to say yes. If that's the message that is being proclaimed then it's no wonder why so many Baptists live their lives as the Catholics do. They drink, smoke, go to worldly parties etc etc.
@@Hicky33 Because in God's eyes we all live ungodly lives. It is impossible (whether we are saved or not saved) to live a perfect Godly life as he would have us to. There were a number of times Jesus had to rebuke Peter because of his ungodly behavior. Once you are saved doing good works is not automatic. Yes if we are sensitive to the spirit and obedient then we are more likely to do good works but it's not a guarantee. You have to make a concise decision to proactively walk in the spirit as Paul says in Galatians. Galatians 5: 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. In Ephesians Paul also talks about how we have an old man and new man. When we trust Jesus Christ as our savior we are given a new nature which is of God. This nature cannot sin, however, we still have the old nature in us and we can choose to yield to either nature. Ephesians 4: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Also see Romans 6 and Colossians 3 where again it talks about the old man. Pastor covers more about the two natures in this message. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iDl_VJSOmtw.html
I was a part of a lordship church almost ten years ago. In my rational mind, I recognize it as being a ridiculous teaching. But, it has had profound negative consequences in my life. Im absolutely stuck in this obsessive self introspection. I even had some close friends try to tell me I wasn’t saved because I had struggled to overcome porn addiction. But, even if a person doesn’t have that issue, isn’t there always going to be some sort of sin issue in a persons life? I have great difficulty forgiving those people.
It's actually very arrogant for anyone to think that the sins they commit are only those they intended to commit or those they are aware they are committing. So confessing sin is like emptying the pacific ocean with a thimble. There are numerous unquanitified sins we are responsible for or involved with because we are interconnected to others in the world. These are sins which we have no direct involvement with by choice, awareness or intent. E.g., we must not kill another . But we could buy a garment we do not need in a shop that was made by an exploited worker in an Indian sweatshop who was working on that exact garment at the time the roof caved in and killed her. Everything we do in the material world is zero sum game. When we gain, someone else loses. It is impossible for us to wash ourselves from sin by confession and effort. We all benefit from the sins of others from the past, inadvertently too. That's why we inherit original sin. The inheritance aspect is vital to help us understand that there is a price to pay for being connected to someone whose sins we were not personally responsible for: Adam. That's why it takes The Lord Jesus to atone for all of our sins. We are physically, emotionally, intellectually incapable of washing away all of our own sins. That is why the old law was meant to show us. It was all about intent, awareness, outward show, confession and sacrifice.
Yes! Exactly. The book of James says that if we keep the whole law, yet break it only in one part, we've broken all of it! Those friends were no less guilty of habitual sin than you were. I know how you feel about having a hard time for forgiving those people. I had several "friends" imply the same thing simply bc I struggle with an anxiety disorder. They told me I had no faith
I understand. Just know that so many are deceived - they are blind guides. They don't know any better. Stick with those who lift you up and feed your soul. And the toxic ones? ask Father to enable you to forgive them - which He can - and then move forward! :)
Very Glad you made it 'out' and retained your faith in God. Many reject Calvinism and throw God out with the frame in which Calvin paints him. There is a common thought which is sometimes proffered by those wishing to "get along" from both sides of the aisle on TULIP in a body of believers. It is said, "I believe you are saved, and you believe I am saved... what difference does it make how we believe we got saved?"🤷♂ However, it does 'matter' in my opinion. And here's why. Satan always looks for the weak link/s in each individual. We all have at least 'one'😎. And Satan has many tools from which to pick which are just right for the job. He's been at it since the beginning. Calvinism is a tool. A perfect trap, devised to separate believers from trusting that God loves them, personally. It often attracts a certain type who find it hard to resist the temptation to 'know' something which others do not. Or even those willing to follow and trust someone else making that claim. It's really very clever and offers the perfect plausible deniability... because "God did it to them" and they had nothing to do with it🤷🏻♂. They just don't know why he hasn't 'done it' to you. They 'hope' he planned to, but if not, you'll simply bust hell wide open without a prayer.... for no other reason than to bring God more glory🤔🤔 It's insidious. Most 'Calvinists' were believers in Christ before they became Convinced of Calvinism. I believe it's true that affirming TULIP doesn't keep someone from being saved, no matter how confused they may become about "how" it happened. The problem is this doctrine undermines your personal relationship with God... It plants the seed of doubt that God might not really, truly, love you... personally. God is said to only, truly, salvifically, love the "elect",(as they define them). But nobody can ever know who the lucky ones are ... not even the man in the mirror, or the children watching him shave. Once that seed of doubt takes root one can never trust that God really does love them... personally, In Calvinism, it is taught that what a man believes about Jesus can only be what God has determined and effectually caused him to believe. This is because all men are said to be "born" unable to believe apart from God's specific intervention which is only by his predetermined eternal decree. And only given to a select few. BUT, this must also be true of those who seem to live and act as believers only to fall away at some later point in their life... Consequently, that apostacy can likewise only be God's doing, also by his eternal decree. It's called "Evanescent"(false/temporary) Grace. Which God gives to some only to be withdrawn later because he never really loved them in the first place. And John Calvin said eternal punishment for these people would be even greater for having tasted 'some' Grace and rejecting it, even though they literally had nothing to do with it. The problem is that after accepting the challenge to worship a God who will do that to some people... you never know if he's doing it to you....🤔 Perfect love casts out fear, but if you doubt the love God has for you is real, and wonder if the love you think you have for him will last, you cannot escape the fear of the consequences. Satan may not be able to keep a believer out of spending eternity with God, but he can work to make their life Hell on Earth. Calvinism promotes the same lie he proposed to Eve in the Garden, "You can't trust God is being honest with you.... personally". And it has the same effect today as back then. And Satan smiles. Calvinism cannot help but bring God's character under question. Satan always attacks God's character.... always. If you find yourself defending the nature and character of the God you worship from the claims of your own doctrine... perhaps you should reconsider your doctrine. Augustine and John Calvin did not invent the lie which evolved into TUILP. ... The fell for it.
Wow! Thanks for standing for the truth! This is the first message I have heard from Pastor Cucuzza, but when I saw him starting using his wallet to illustrate the Gospel message, it reminded me of my pastor of years ago, A. Ray Stanford.
I'd love to hear how he gels James 2 and Jesus parable about abiding in the vine with his position on Lordship salvation being heresy. I agree 100% that we are saved by faith alone.. thats crystal clear. But equally crystal clear is James 2:17. Faith without works is dead. And vs 18 James said he will show his faith... BY... his works.. Im not disagreeing that we are saved by faith. But if there are not works to back up our faith, then our faith is dead. Id also be curious as to why the phrase "Lordship" salvation. Again, the Bible says in Romans 10:9&10 that If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved... I'd love to hear him blend the two together in this message to alleviate confusion.
This was enriching beyond belief. Human pride engrains a desire to “EARN” salvation in every one of us. We must resist this temptation and give up. Not trying to please GOD, because anyone who loves him should want to please him, but give up thinking we have any chance at earning salvation from a Perfect, Holy, Everlasting GOD & simply trust in Christ & his finished work at Calvary like we would trust a parachute when jumping from a plane or a bungee cord while diving head first from a 20 story building. We do not and cannot earn something that is freely given through faith alone; the GIFT of eternal salvation. God Bless.
Great message! Christians need to hear this until their hearts are seared by it! Thank you for staying true to God's word. Calvinists don't believe that you earn salvation by works, but afterward it seems in order to keep yourself saved you need to persevere in good works. If even one good work cannot save me then even one good work cannot keep me saved. It's Christ's work and I praise God for it.
Jesus Christ is Lord and I will always try to do good works and walk as he walked because he saved a sinner like me. If I slip I will repent and go to my Mediator for forgivness.
I’ve had a terrible difficult year. Since my daughter died January 2023. Many believers have rejected me and abandoned me. I have Ben a believer in Jesus as my Saviour since 1985! These people seem to believe that life must be always happy and that that proves you are a believer! This is a fallen world!
What ALL people who add works to salvation do is they twist justification (saved by grace through faith) and sanctification (works AFTER salvation) together. They are two distinct and seperate positions! When you hear a pastor or anyone else who tells you, "Place your faith and trust in Christ AND repent AND make Him Lord of your life AND persevere to be saved" or anything like this, you are listening to someone who adds works to salvation and who does not believe in grace alone. Adrian Rogers said in a sermon I heard on the radio just a couple of days ago from this post..."If you haven't made Jesus Lord of your life, you aren't saved." Really? Show me your good works BECAUSE you're saved, not in order to BE saved. No wonder people have no assurance of salvation! So sad.
We are justified through Christ’s blood alone and not by works of the law. But, we must take all of scripture to understand how we are to walk with Jesus and yes follow Him.
Lordship salvation is the worst false gospel today because of its prevalence in media and on the internet via famous Calvinist preachers. As a result of it, there are many ppl today who think they are doing what the Christian God wants to be saved, but are actually on the way to hell. The Lordship salvationists cannot rightly divide salvation from service/ discipleship, and being chastened from being condemned. They conflate not having to do works to be saved with being given a free license to sin. They do not take a lot of verses in their proper context and misinterpret them by not reading carefully, such as Matt 7:21-23, the "not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord" verse. And many of them are extremely stubborn too. I know; i used to be a lordship salvationist myself. I was guilty of the same things too.
The same for Catholicism. My elderly mother, who is still in the Catholic religion preaches that verse to me, saying "not everyone that saith Lord, Lord..." I hope she gets saved before she dies. There isn't much time left.
Here is a couple of hard questions for John MacArthur: If you believe that disciples must sell all they have, why do you have three estate homes and live like a king? Why have you not sold all you have?
