Heaven is a Gift not a Reward! “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭🙏❤️

@@ducatiist I'm assuming you are trying to imply that the reward referred to in Rev 22:12 is salvation and that you must earn it. However, that is not correct interpretation of that verse. Salvation (going to heaven) is a gift, not a reward, as was already stated. Rev 22:12 is referring to the rewards that believers will receive in heaven for the good works they have done once they trusted Christ as their Savior. 1 Corinthians 3 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Who is he writing to? Who is he talking about? You are ignoring the context (a key to correct hermeneutics). Besides, what is the will of God? Because of Daniel and other texts, you need to distinguish between God's moral will (what he would humans to do) and his all-powerful decretive will that Daniel says can't be thwarted. So, I would ask you if God willed it, would come to pass without fail?

The way you explained perseverance of the Saints is not how I’ve ever understood it to be explained in Calvinism. It seems like you have a more, I guess catholic interpretation of it. My understanding of perseverance of the Saints is that the Lord will keep us and that we will persevere, not that we will never fall out if fellowship with him for a time, but that we will always come back…that we will never walk away from the faith completely.
@michaelhalpert5518
@michaelhalpert5518 2 месяца назад
This is incorrect as well. If believers couldn’t walk away completely then Paul wouldn’t have spent all his time writing the letters to all the Churches in the New Testament to warn them to repent. If you stop for a moment and consider it, this is common sense. God is not the author of confusion. If you believe in the perseverance of the saints you must also believe that God chooses people to go to hell. Because if he chooses some to preserve it means he chooses others not to persevere. This robs God of His Righteousness. A righteous God cannot send someone to hell for choices they did not make because that is not justice. God is a perfect righteous judge. I hope this helps you see the error more clearly. I was never a Calvinist but I suffered from the same fears Calvinists face by looking to my works instead of Jesus. I fight against Calvinism because I see people everyday on the internet terrified that they are a reprobate or who are afraid that God will not forgive them. I do it out of love for those people. I’d also like to see you have the full assurance that you can only have if you know Jesus died for you. Calvinism says he didn’t die for everyone and there is no way to know for sure. The Bible says we should have assurance and the only way you can have assurance is if Jesus died for you. The only way to know he died for you is if he died for everyone. It makes sense and it’s also what the Bible teaches us. God wouldn’t leave salvation, the single most important thing in the universe, up to mystery would he? Jesus died for everyone including you. Only those who choose to follow him will be saved. You can have full assurance and be free!

There came a time three years ago when I thought Calvinism was driving me mad. And I asked God to show me the truth of it. He led me to the excellent Soteriology 101 channel here on RU-vid, and to John Lennox's marvelous refutation of Calvinism, "Determined to Believe?" ( There is plenty of Lennox on RU-vid, but most of it is apologetic for Christianity, some of it deals with the falsity of Calvinism. ) I'm in a PCA church which perhaps has been kinder to me than I deserve: there's always a spy, a snitch, and one of them, who follows my comments under another name on Substacks, brought my comments ragging on Calvinism to the pastor's attention. This has made me nervous. I'm disabled, have a preposterously low income, and the church supplements it marvelously. So far, no threats about that. And if it happens, I will remind my pastor and the elders that I haven't yet suffered martyrdom, and offer to allow myself to be burned at the stake behind the church.

Salvation is the gift. We can’t save ourselves so God does the work for us and gifts it to us by his Grace. Salvation is by grace through faith. The whole statement is the gift. Meaning it’s free, we didn’t earn it, we didn’t work for it, we just believe, accept by faith, and receive. That’s a free will choice we make yes, but our faith is not a work, meaning it doesn’t merit our salvation, God did that on the cross. Faith in its nature is passive. The Calvinist view makes it seem to me as if faith is a work. Which we know it’s not Ephesians 2:8-10

Here's what that doesn't say: 'God will only draw some people and only they will be saved'. That's not what it says. Jesus also said if He was raised up He would draw all men to Himself. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” (John 12:32, NASB). It doesn't mean all will beleive, which is a requirement. 20 years ago I studied deeply into Calvinism and at the time concluded I was a three-point calvinist. I've been slowly drifting away from that stance while looking into lordship salvation. After watching this video I'm totally convinced all five points of Calvinism are absolutely biblically false. The scriptures chosen here totally dismantled every point of TULIP.
@Liam0408
@Liam0408 2 года назад
I was also becoming something like a 3 point calvinist. I think what confused me the most was the teaching about works as evidence for salvation. The reason I was deceived is because the Bible does mention the fruit of the spirit, so it made sense to me at the time. But then I grew really introspective, constantly examining myself for evidence of salvation, finding that I was coming up short every time and always would bc holiness requires 100% perfection. It was torchure. It destroyed my mental health. I'm still trying to repair the damage, but glad to be getting back to the true Gospel I learned as a child. Through faith in Christ alone

@@Liam0408 Child of God, I too have been deceived of understanding the believers position as an adoptive child of God. One area that has given me peace and joy over a tortured soul was in Ephesians chapter 1. I see now that the false doctrines of lordship following of Jesus Christ are being applied to our state in the flesh. This can wreak havoc to the life of the child of God. I pray you study carefully the scriptures here. You may begin to see that once you become His child you are like the thread of a needle, with Jesus Christ being the needle. All our spiritual blessings are IN CHRIST. Chosen in Him. The second we put our faith in Him, God made us a new spiritual creation. A new thread and the Holy Spirit threaded that thread in Christ, the needle. After that God's plan is to reveal to us all the great things He HAS DONE FOR US as new creatures. With God, it is always what He has done, never on what we have done or should do. He alone has prepared the way for us from the foundation of the world and He wants us to see the complete plan so we can have complete assurance and not have doubts and worries. Consider every time He uses the Scriptures IN HIM and our understanding of His marvelous substitutionary sacrifice has done for us. We are His workmanship created IN CHRIST JESUS. The Holy Spirit baptised us into Christ, a union that cannot be severed. We are sealed. We are grafted into the body of Christ. The church. We sit back and learn about all the blessings HE ALONE HAS DONE FOR US. I pray His Words of Truth will open up our eyes more and more from the many lies that Satan has for distracting us from knowing the glorious blessings that God has provided to those IN CHRIST.

Calvinists don't receive a specific list or definitive knowledge of who is predestined and who isn't. The doctrine of predestination, as understood within Calvinism, is based on the belief that God has chosen certain individuals for salvation according to His will, not based on human actions or merit. Calvinists believe that God's election or predestination is a hidden decree. They don't have direct access to this information in their present lives. Instead, they might look for signs or indications in their own lives, such as faith, good works, and perseverance, as potential indicators that they might be among the elect. However, these are not guarantees but rather potential reflections of God's grace working within them. Certainty about one's predestination isn't attainable according to Calvinist doctrine. They rely on faith in God's sovereignty and trust in His plan for salvation, recognizing that the ultimate knowledge of who is predestined rests with God alone.

So then what you have described as being the Calvinistic doctrine. Leaves individuals WITHOUT any total assurance that they are GUARANTEED eternal life. Whereas 1 John 5:10-13. 10. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

The new Pastor was very subtle and at about the three year mark when he was supposed to sign the agreement (annually) to ascribe to the beliefs in our constitution and by laws he would not and said he was going to change things up....Split the body in two, half of us had to leave, then within a year, he was gone back to work in the secular world... If Jesus paid for for everybody sin on the cross then everybody is saved. This Arminian pastor would respond no! Sinners must believe- but isn’t unbelief a sin? Therefore you have a false doctrine of universal redemption; even this pastor doesn’t believe that. So somehow he has worked around this by essentially saying Christ died for every sin except unbelief. If Christ died for all men without exception then Jesus must be raised from the dead for them and He eternally interceded for them in heaven and John 17 supports. Arminianism does have answer to these important Theological Biblical thoughts. This pastor is theologically in error, sorry to say…

If I bought a copy of a movie for every person in the world and the only way to see that movie was to get a free copy from me then only those that accepted the free copy would see the movie. I still had to pay for all the copies of the movie regardless of who accepted a copy. The same idea is with Jesus Christ's payment on the cross. It's available to everyone but only those that accept Christ's payment have it put to their account. 1 John 2 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. That scripture just supports that everyone has sinned. It certainly doesn't support Calvinism. Just like these don't: In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, (Ephesians 1:13, NASB) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, (John 1:12, NASB) “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NASB) He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18, NASB) He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36, NASB) For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40, NASB) Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. (John 6:47, NASB) He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'” (John 7:38, NASB) but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31, NASB) They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31, NASB) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16, NASB) even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; (Romans 3:22, NASB) For what does the Scripture say? “ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.” (Romans 4:3, NASB) Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. (Romans 4:4, NASB) But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, (Romans 4:5, NASB) What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; (Romans 9:30, NASB) but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. (Romans 9:31, NASB) Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, (Romans 9:32, NASB) just as it is written, “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” (Romans 9:33, NASB) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. (Romans 10:4, NASB) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (Romans 10:9, NASB) for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.” (Romans 10:13, NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17, NASB) For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. (1 Corinthians 1:21, NASB) This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? (Galatians 3:2, NASB) in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Paul is quoting Psalms 14:1-3 The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Verse 1 is the key as to who he is addressing.

This is a typical Arminian response to Reformed Theology. He is essentially saying that dead men can believe as if faith were in their back pocket. But they leave their members unprepared to counter the Calvinist prooftexts and carefully crafted arguments. If Calvinists ever gain a foothold of leadership in a body of believers, they will never offer the same grace which they enjoyed to those who disagree with them. It becomes 'my way or the highway' rather quick. And many will lie about their 'doctrine' in order to gain positions of leadership. ... Stealth Calvinism is a 'thing' which is destroying many churches.

Calvinism says God chose you, (the elect) to be saved before you were born. If that is true then you were never in danger of being lost, you were never really lost. Jesus said "I came to seek and to save that which was lost." So no Calvinist can be saved because Jesus only came to save lost people.

I find your opinion that 10% of humanity will be saved very interesting since I have heard that 10% represents a remnant. Thank you so much for addressing Calvinism. My church has gone the way of Calvinism and it absolutely breaks my heart. I try my best not to be abrasive when I in Sunday School, but when my Sunday school teacher’s wife replied “it is a mystery” when I expressed my refusal of a point of Calvinism we were discussing in class, I just wanted to say no it is a lie! A former SS teacher’s wife made the bold statement when it was clear I was not buying into this Calvinism that if you are not a Calvinist, you are an Arminian and Arminians are going to hell. I just sat there in shock. I didn’t even know what Arminianism was. Once I searched what that was, I realized she was totally wrong. I’m not a Calvinist or an Arminian. EXACT same thing happened to me. I went 50 years into my life not knowing what Calvinism was, then it just smacked me in the face. It was obvious to me that if Calvinism was true, then God is the author of sin. That is the logical conclusion to Calvinism, and I just can't throw something at it like, "It's a mystery". The only "mystery" spoken of in the bible is HOW did God come as a human, in the form of Jesus Christ, WHO existed from eternity? How can we understand the nature and essence of a triune God? That is the only "mystery" spoken of in the bible. WE believe God because He proved His love for us, in the person of Jesus Christ, dying for our sins, so that we can have a relationship with Him thru His Spirit. How is this possible? It's a mystery. That's it. There is no mystery how God can love EVERYBODY, but then Calvinists say God chose only a few for salvation. Then God doesn't love everybody. No mystery there.

WHAT FREEDOM; WHAT PRIVILEGE; YET WHAT RESPONSIBILITY! His law is written in my heart. The Apostle Paul wrote against any gospel that adds ANY works-righteousness obedience works for proof of so-called salvation. The TRUE gospel is... For by grace alone through faith alone in trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus Christ alone through his BLOOD ATONEMENT alone PAID IN FULL for all sins of the whole world. A individual has to believe in the true Gospel in order to be saved. By grace alone through faith alone in trusting in Jesus Christ alone through his blood atonement alone for salvation. WITHOUT ANY...works-righteousness obedience, fruit bearing or any other merit by a individual. Grace = Unmerited Favor! NOTHING in my hands do I bring, only to the Cross do I cling. @@willp.8120Yes, God must reveal the truth of the gospel to us, but isnt that what He is beginning to do when He draws "all men unto" Himself (John 12:32)? Or when He is "the Light that lightest every man who comes into the world" (in John 1)? Jesus said God hides His truth from the 'wise and prudent", and reveals it to the "babes". Both could be whom He had predestined them to be, EXCEPT that the wise and prudent can become as little children, willing to believe God, and then, it can be revealed unto them, too, a thing which has happen to many wise and prudent people, when they came to the end of themselves. It is stated negatively, that "unless" we "become as little children", we "shall in no wise enter the kingdom". Even though it is stated negatively, it does mean that there is hope for people when we are too wise in our own eyes. We, too, can repent, turning and becoming willing to believe God. The fact that we can repent and turn to Him as little children, doesn't fit anyone being predestined for either heaven or for hell. In fact, if that Bible verse is true, predestination to heaven or hell is a lie; and if predestination to heaven or hell is true, what Jesus said would be a lie! That doesn't have to shake our faith, because the predestination of everything that would ever happen, including who would be saved and who would remain lost is not taught anywhere in the Bible. Bible predestination is of specific things, not everything that would ever happen. That predestination of everything is a pagan, not a Biblical, idea. It comes through Augustine, who changed what he'd taught for 26 years, and taught this doctrine the last 15 years of his life. It was very close to what the Manichaean gnostics had taught, when he belonged to them. The Bible doesn't teach it anywhere. Setting aside these doctrines allows us to trust God again. God does not lie. "It is not the will of the Father that one of these little ones perish"-Jesus.

Please be careful. Many souls have been saved via the preaching of these three men that you mentioned, and because of that, my heart rejoices, but all three are very wrong in many areas of their theology. I was once where you are and I am so grateful to have escaped the snare of Calvinism, Reformed Theology, Doctrine of Grace or whatever other fancy title they decide to give it. All it takes is for a Christian to fall into sin, which we are all prone to do, and if that Christian is sold out on Calvinism, he/she will start doubting the finished/ saving work of Jesus Christ in their life and immediately use their own "works" as a measuring stick of salvation. It is a straight up backended works salvation teaching with a front loaded "Salvation is of God and of God alone" teaching that is believed by every single truly saved and sealed believer anyway. One can not be saved and believe otherwise. Calvinism is the most subtle mind trick within the church in my humble opinion. God bless and know that this is my opinion only, but I would really be prayerful and open to listening to what the word of God actually says and means in context from others like maybe James Knox whose teachings on these key Calvinistic stronghold passages are in stark contrast to what Reformed Theology teaches. It is a stunning difference that paints a completely different picture of God. They can't both be right. One side has it very very wrong.

Calvin, Luther, and Augustine could be included in that group. I am not defending Calvinism but it seems to be what scripture teaches. Either way, we have the same dilema with those 90%. I am very confused by your sermon and what I see as apparent contradictions to other bible passages in both the Old and New Testaments...I'll just focus on the new for now... Your definition of Repentance seems different from most of the passages below. Help me understand. Matthew 3:8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. Matthew 3:11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Mark 1:4 John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Luke 3:3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 13:24 Before his coming, John had proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. Acts 19:4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 9:13 Go and learn what this means, “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.” For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. Mark 1:15 And saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Luke 5:31-32 And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Luke 17:3 Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Luke 24:47 And that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. Mark 6:12 So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out. Acts 5:31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. Acts 8:22 Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you. Acts 17:30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. Acts 20:21 Testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 26:20 But declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance. James 5:19-20 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. Luke 15:7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Acts 11:18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. Luke 13:3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Romans 2:4-5 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. Hebrews 12:17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears. 1 John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Revelation 2:16 Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. Revelation 3:3 Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

I don't think I heard any comments on Psalm 65:4, 78:67-72, Acts 13:48, John 3:58, Luke 10:22, John 6:44, Romans 8:28-30 or the entire 9th chapter of Romans. Pastor Tom, while obviously well-meaning, seems to be getting very close to advocating a universalist point of view. No salesman knows who his next customer will be, so he knocks on all doors. We don't know who the elect are, so we give our testimonies to anyone whom the Holy Spirit inclines us to. But God does know who will be saved and who will not based on His will. That's why it's called grace.
@celiasleigh2805

Actually there's more reason to believe in universalism if you have Calvinistic beliefs. I was raised by a Calvinist and right after I got saved and was coming out of Calvinism I did come to the conclusion that if it was true and all of Scripture was true then universalism would have to be true. Scripture says God will for all the be saved. So if he chose and made it happen it would just be everyone. But as scripture say it's through faith and we must choose to believe him. Not everyone believes so clearly universalism isn't true.

Great message brother! People need to know how evil this damnable Doctrine is. Calvinist have another jesus and another gospel and are under a curse according to Galatians 1. They mock the free gift of salvation through the Gospel of the Grace of God... The Gospel; God's Son Jesus (God in the flesh born of a virgin) came into the world as a man, lived a sinless life, dying in our place on the cross for the sins of the whole world, paying for sin with His blood, buried and rose again 3 days later. Salvation is offered as a free gift to everyone. And ALL that would believe in the Gospel and Jesus alone would have eternal life adopted into God's family by faith. the Calvinist mock the Gospel as easy believeisum and call it a license to sin. They are going the way of cain and bring their works to God instead of The Blood of Jesus Christ. Thats why they all are big proponents of "lordship salvation" because they want something to boast in (works) outside of the Blood and Cross of Christ. They will be the Lord Lord people in matthew 7 (along with many others if they dont get saved) that Jesus never knew, unless they believed the real Gospel before they shipwrecked their faith in Calvinism. The Calvinist that has never believed the real gospel; the way I see it is a Antichrist like it says in 1st John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believed not the record that God gave of his son. They say "he only died of the sins of the elect" proving they dont believe the record of God's Son. John MacArthur even goes as far to say its not the literal blood of Jesus that saves us.... This is why I believe the whole book of 1st John was written to show you who's an actual believer so our joy maybe full (the ones that believe God's record of His Son (the Gospel)) and those who are not (a antichrist) so we can mark and avoid them after we give them 2 admonitions as Titus 3:10 says.

@@The-GreenHornetI fell into Lordship salvation at one time. Only once I started studying deeper the true Gospel especially as revealed in Galatians and gaining a deeper understanding of the Catholic doctrine of justification, I began to see the subtle deception of Lordship salvation. It's Roman Catholic doctrine repackaged where the same words are used (faith alone) but the definitions are changed. The Gospel became so clear to me all over Scripture. The Gospel is so beautiful, I couldn't believe that it was as simple as believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. He truly gave Himself for us, He paid the price in full. Wolves have come into the faith and are so subtly trampling upon the truth. The warnings Paul gave in Galatians 1 ring as true today just as they did back then.

Hi Matthew, I just want to let you know that I read your whole comment and im concerned for you as you have practically condemned many people who believe that Jesus Christ died for their sins and that God raised Him from the dead - to whom Paul said "will be saved". I would offer you a word of warning against doing that, as insodoing, you are calling down the judgement which you have used against "calvinists" on yourself, by saying that these believers must do something else to be saved - another gospel. I would also say, that with all due respect, you have misunderstood nearly everything you have spoken against "calvinism", and I would encourage you to take an honest, balanced, and unemotionally charged study of Calvinism and its claims, as there is no way you could possibly do that and say that Calvinists "mock the free gift of salvation through the Gospel of the Grace of God" or that calvinists teach "easy believism and a license to sin". Again, i'm not arguing but warning you that you have practically condemned people who believe that Jesus died for their sins and that He rose again. I'd say the same thing to a Calvinist who was condemning Arminians or those who disagree with them based on these disagreements rather than on the gospel.

Pastor, Cucuzza, in regards to 1 John 2:2, what John is saying is that Christ is the propitiation, not just of the Jews, but of the gentiles - the whole world. If this verse did mean what you say it means, then the sins of the entire world would be propitiated and all would be saved. But that is not what John is teaching. Just as God was the God of the Jews, but not all Jews will be saved and just as God is the God of the church, but not all in the church will be saved, so God is the propitiation for the whole world, but not everybody in the whole world will be saved. Who will be saved? Not the whole world, but only those whom the Father draws to the Son.

When I was first I really did inherit to calvinistic views of predestination of election. I no longer am a calvinist anymore. I still attend a calvinist church and debate this topic quite a bit with the elders and pastors of my church. When it comes down to it I don't feel that this battle is really worth the time and effort because even a calvinist doesn't know who the elect are versus who is not elect so the preaching has to be to everyone anyway. I also think it depends on the individual when I became a calvinist it was because the order of my regeneration two believing in Christ. I spoke to God for the first time in 30 years, was then regenerated in an absolutely supernatural event, which caused me to go to the and read. The scriptures for the first time ever in my life made sense to me and I professed Christ is my Lord and Savior a few days later. That's not going to be for everyone and that's why I'm not a calvinist because all of our stories are different.

If you are not a calvinist, to stay in a church that teaches such a flaw in the character of God is to your harm. God so loved the world, this is a fact. Whosoever believeth is also a fact. God has given to every man a measure of faith. Mans pride will cause him to take that bit of faith and avoid its benifit because he loves his sin. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. All scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. A mans faith comes from hearing God's word so that the small measure God gave him may grow and thereby produce repentance. God doesn't needmen to go to hell to bring glory to himself. This is flawed thinking and understanding of God. God is asea (if I spelled it correctly) . That simply means that he doesn't need anything to add to his being God and nothing can take away from him and make him less than he is. The fact is that God is God. He isn't dependent upon anything, period. He is almighty. It is man that needs him. My advice, find a true church, one who's doctrine is the same as the apostles. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation.

Not knowing whether you are saved until you die is what Muslims believe and it's a horrible belief because you are forever anxious forever looking for faults that will compromise your salvation. I think where Calvinism has taken foothold in some places is in reaction liberal prosperity gospel churches and preachers. People are hungry for God and the prosperity gospel is feeding them junk food and the Calvinists are starving them. Neither flocks are getting proper spiritual food.

Missionary motivation. It is from God's love for all men that the Church in every age receives both the obligation and the vigor of her missionary dynamism, "for the love of Christ urges us on." Indeed, God "desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth"; that is, God wills the salvation of everyone through the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is found in the truth. Those who obey the prompting of the Spirit of truth are already on the way of salvation. But the Church, to whom this truth has been entrusted, must go out to meet their desire, so as to bring them the truth. Because she believes in God's universal plan of salvation, the Church must be missionary.

Except that is a misinterpretation of context. Jesus was speaking to the Jews who of many would deny Christ while claiming to worship the Father. I believe everything you said against Calvinism, even that John 3 tells us how to be saved and have the assurance of salvation. You left out a very important part of that chapter. 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. We know that born of water is, but what does it mean to be born of the spirit. Look at the day of Pentecost, the disciples [120 of them] were born of the Holy Spirit. They were converted on that day and they didn't jump around or jabber in some mystery language. They preached Christ to the people, as the Holy Spirit gave them the words to say and everyone could understand in his own language. What did Peter say they needed to do to be saved? 2:37 Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do? 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Repent means to be sorry for your sins and turn your life around and walk no more in sin the Holy Spirit is the power of the Spirit [grace] in the person to live a life free from sin. 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. That doesn't mean he can never sin again. We can sill step out of Christ, if we choose to sin again, because the Spirit living in us cannot sin. All power to live the sinless life, is from the Holy Spirit, so it is not us that does it, but the power of God in us. The first part of this sermon mentioned the thought of burning in hell could be the motivation to be born again. You can never be born again through fear of hell. The only way to be born again is through a deep love for Christ and the Father. Love is the only power that can lead people to get true Spirit Who cleanses the heart and mind until we hate the sins we used to love and love what is lovely and right.

You can't have assurance of salvation if you are basing it on "turning" from sin or on how much you love God. There's no way to measure if you've loved God enough or if you've gotten rid of enough sin from your life. The only way to know for sure you are going to heaven is accepting the payment Jesus Christ made on the cross. This simply means believing that he did that for you. In John 3:36 it tells us that we have ("hath") everlasting life the moment we believe. Jesus said the same thing in John 6:47. John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 6:47 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. Paul tells us that we can know we have everlasting life by simply believing. 1 John 5:13 - These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The word repentance means to change your mind, not turn from sin. You need to change your mind about who you are trusting to get you to heaven. Trust in Jesus Christ or yourself, it can't be both. i love it....names have been named so others can know who NOT to listen to.......great teaching......needed for sure......we live in chaotic times and much knowledge is needed by all who are saved......we cant even comprehend eternity and how long that is......the bible does say though that few find salvation, so how many then is few????......

Sproul is particularly destructive. He got so convoluted with his philosophical discursions that he never noticed how far afield of what the Bible actually teaches he got.

During the flood, 8 souls out of millions were saved. During the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, 3 souls were saved out of tens of thousands. When the Bible says a few, it really means a few.

The truth is, the bible seems to say both about God choosing man, as well as man choosing God. This is a subject we should not approach with a cavalier "us vs them" attitude. Let us work out our salvation with fear and trembling, as Phil. 2:12 says. To get to the bottom of this issue one must have an open and humble heart and seek for the truth as for a hidden treasure.

I am so confused about whether i am saved or not. Listened to John MacArthur for decades. But Paul washer is Reformed Baptist. Every church i have belonged to has been baptist. Now i am so confused i dont go to any church and i feel so bad that i cant stop sinning that i am scared im not saved. Several calvanists say if you dont go to church you arent saved. I dont know what to rhink. I tbought i was saved and got upset with Him and walked away for several years, but went back. But now i wonder if i was saved even though i couldnt get enough bible back then. I have felt drawn off and on all my life. I repent almost daily trying to feel saved. Its driving me crazy. I feel defeated. Never found but one baptist church that seemed to have love for the brethren. But we moved 200 miles away and tried another for 5 or 6 years and never was allowed to be a true part of the church. Maybe because we are from the city and this is a very small town. I dont know. Im so scared now because i am so confused. I know God is not the author of confusion. But do i go baptist or reformed baptist or calvanism? I hope this helps. Off to listen.

We are saved by our faith (alone) in what Jesus did - not what we have (or have not) done. Period. Ephesians 2:8-9 says: 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' If anyone tells you that your good works can save you they are deceiving you. Salvation is a gift. All we have to do is receive it (believe). Then our position in Christ is secure for all eternity. He said 'It is finished' meaning it is paid in full. 1 John 5:13 says: 'These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.' We all sin and we all continue to sin. Our carnal (self) nature is still at war with our new (born again) spiritual nature. Jesus has already won the victory over sin, the devil, and death and He has made us righteous and take n our sin on himself. We are declared righteous even though we still sin. Don't beat yourself up. Just believe John 3:16. The thief on the cross just believed. Everyone who waters down the gospel and makes it a work or our own efforts is preaching a false gospel. Jesus is your saviour. Believe the good news. His grace is so amazing. All religion seeks to get there by their own efforts somehow or they add stuff and pollute the truth. The book of Galatians warns against these false gospels and says they have fallen from grace. Buy this guys books or download them. He is correct. God bless you. Forget reformed theology, it is error. I am a pastor. Trust me. I used to listen to Paul Washer years ago then I realised he is a Lordship salvation teacher. Lordship Salvation teaches you have to have Jesus Lord of every single part of your life or you are not saved. It's all about your works. If your salvation is dependent on you and all you are doing is looking at your own performance then you have completely missed the boat. We are to be fixing our eyes on Jesus, not ourselves. Hebrews 12:2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
