I think it's funny that Chilled and Courtilly are never on the same page - like last night's session when Courtilly was spymaster and put burger hoping they'd think of pan/bacon/quarter/bar/Mets and Chilled went 'nah it's revolution because burger = burger king, king off with his head = revolution," it makes the game so much more unpredictable

Except with chilled. Chilled leaves you more lost than when you came in.

The story of Oedipus can be summed up by this quote: "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it." There was a prophecy that Oedipus would kill his father Laius and marry his mother Jocasta. His parents heard it first, and sent him to a neighboring kingdom while he was really young. Oedipus then heard it when he was a young adult, and he believes his adopted parents (Polybus and Merope) were his biological parents. Oedipus tries to avoid his fate by fleeing his adopted kingdom. This creates the mess of Oedipus eventually winding up back in his birth kingdom. On the way there, he crosses paths with a man in a chariot. The two get into a traffic argument and have a duel on the spot. Oedipus wins, killing the man in the chariot. That man was his birth father Laius. He then gets to his old kingdom, defeats a sphinx causing problems in the area, and gets offered the hand of the widowed queen as his reward. The widowed queen is Jocasta, and neither of them put two and two together before they had four kids. It took them another 15 or so years to realize that the prophecy was long since fulfilled. Jocasta realizes it first, and she commits suicide. Oedipus then blinds himself once he's confirmed with a couple different oracles that he did in fact murder his father. There's more to this story, such as a 3 way war between Jocasta's brother Creon and the two sons of Oedipus fighting for control of the kingdom after Oedipus abdicates post-self-blinding. Creon, who has to be approaching 60 by this point, eventually wins and he tries to murder all 4 of Oedipus's kids. There are different versions in which one of the daughters (Antigone) either dies by suffocation or manages to escape. The other daughter (Ismere) lives in all versions while both sons always die. TL-DR: The story of Oedipus is a giant mess and meant scare people about prophecies.

@@MrCh0o Like I said, they just cross paths on the road. Imagine getting into a car accident with someone, and you both get out to talk. It gets heated and the other person gets back into the car to run you over. You then pull out a weapon and kill them. That's essentially what transpired between Oedipus and Laius. Argument ensues, Laius gets really mad and tries to run Oedipus over, Oedipus retaliates and cuts Laius down.

You're thinking of the Huns (the people that were able to sack Rome). Ghengis Khan led the Mongol Hordes in the Middle Ages, well after the Roman Empire is publically considered to have collapsed (ignoring how the Byzantine Empire considered themselves to be the Roman Empire until they were conquered).

That's what Courtilly always does. Sometimes you gotta stretch for the answers but I swear her strategy is to find the answers with the biggest stretch and go "but what about this...." Go for the obvious ones first!
