If anyone were to ask me "So, at what point did you finally decide to take a break from reading Berserk?" The troll cave would always be my answer. Most people would say the eclipse or tower of conviction, but I see the troll cave as being the most messed up.
I kinda like this series, seeing Berserk is filled with these astral creatures, you could maybe even cover some friendly creatures, like Elfs and Golems aswell
Good starting point for a video by referencing real world folklore! Another point worth mentioning... "Qliphoth" is a direct callout to real world mythology as well. In Kabbalah, they are the evil or impure opposites of the holy Sefirot, an inverted version of the tree. The name means "shell" or "husk".
When the trolls raped the women in the anime it was the most disgusting thing I had ever seen. And then one of the women exploded and out came this even worse thing. Now I can relate to people who saw Alien, when it was released.
Nice video idea regarding Berserk man! I think the introduction of the trolls was very important, because previously to them the idea of astral creatures we had was in relation to good natured beings like elves. It contrasted how the astral world can have inhabitants that are helpful but also dangerous to humans
Given how the fantastical and spiritual aspects of the world of Berserk works, is it fair mankind screwed itself over by all collectively asking questions about itself and it’s purpose? Would it all have been better if they somehow never asked or thought up the Ode of Evil in the first place?
The trolls are such repugnant creatures but only because they are man devolved into following nothing but their base instincts, staying consistent with Berserk's themes of how humanity are to blame for its own problems. At the same time, I also enjoy that such a dark reflection of humans are used in contrast to the Enoch villagers who eventually defy their base instincts of self-preservation so that they could stand up to these monsters.
Subscribed, hoping you do more of these. Make a video on the lesser known “monsters”. I always loved that tree that was given a backstory. The one Guts is asleep under when it comes to life and kills tart of the csome bandits. Its the start of the conviction arc right after the golden age arc ends.
Man I can’t wait to get skull knight as a tattoo on my forearm in two weeks ! man I love Berserk so much it’s an amazing anime, and I love how you do lore for it !
Can you go over Zodd in detail for this, as well as cool fan theories or ideas. Or just keep this series going altogether. Zodd has just always been my favorite apostle.
He's my fav apostle too! He doesn't need a tragic character arc like the Slug Count to be liked, and he's not overly loyal to Femto/Griffith like Locus or Grunbeld is.
If I'm not mistaking troll just means magic creature they aren't bad or good they are what the story requires of them nor is there appearence set in stone (pun intended) or there habitat. one could live in a cave the size of a dwarf the next in a forest the size of a giant to my understanding troll isn't a one type of creature but a category or many creatures one might encounter
If you want to see an indie film about hunting trolls id highly recomment the hour long piece trollhunter(2011) by a norweigian production. Some of the trolls have similar design to the ones in berserk so I wonder if there was inspiration taken from the manga
Nope, thats just what scandinavians think trolls would look like, in their folklore and so on. We have childrens books were The trolls look exactly like The troll in that movie.
@@denpowerdrill8921 I mean the nose is a big giveaway. Plus given Miura's taste in artists like MC Escher I bet hed be a pretty big Bauer fan. Though it could also be an indirect heritage, he saw trolls depicted like that and just ran with it without knowing bauer is the source, but I'll give him a little more credit than that.
@@denpowerdrill8921 more or less. My comment was exclusively referring to visuals though. Look up John Bauer's art and you'll see what I mean. Though if we want to go into mythology the rape was probably based on how some later stories conflate trolls with elves, and thus had a habit of kidnapping people and taking them to their underground kingdom. The berserk trolls feel like a naturalistic explanation of that behavior, with them behaving like parasitioid wasps. That's my guess at least. Keep in mind "troll" isn't really a specific thing, just like elves and fairies arent. They're a broad and kinda vague category of sometimes invisible monster than includes everything from house spirits to full on Jotunn. The way we see trolls, dwarves, elves, fairies, and even vampires and ghosts, only came into being in fairly recent fiction.
The trolls burst out of the host mother. Imagine if one of these mothers got into the apostle sack that ganishka had. At least I think its ganishka cant remember the namrs
@@RealLifeRyan if you want something huge on concept ideas them blame is amazing but lacks dialog , toriko was fantastic , claymore, the new manga chainsaw man is great , otherwise hokuto no ken
The characters in berserk have an incredible strenght of mind. If I see the result of a troll impregnating a human woman ripping the insides of said human woman, I would spend the rest of my life in some dark corner sucking my thumb.
Troll r@pe den and explode scene Wylad that scene and marching and throw her as a spear That snake man with boy corpse cut in half on the pole, drinking blood from it After all these scene Casca scene seems just like a cux av for me it just cux with gore and lost arm
The struggle snuggling of women is the most disturbing part of all of berserk you me. That always messes me up. Non humans forcefully taking women. So sad and disgusting.
@@denpowerdrill8921 Why must sad little edgelords like you always come up with some way to turn someone's sympathy against them? Doesn't matter if it's just fiction, men usually have the desire to protect the one's physically weaker than them, such as women and children, so it's understandable why people would feel that way toward something like this. Maybe you're too fucked up in the head to understand that.
