@@levfriedman9802 many of those Brahms and Schumann symphonies are quite high, were it would make sense to have an alto trombone. But there are also places in those symphonies where the 1st trombone part is in the tenor range, and that would sound quite hollow on an alto trombone. Frustrating
@@levfriedman9802 I'm one year late with the response but it went well! I was nervous but fortunately the bass trombone gave me a nice "carpet" to play on to. You can do anything with practice!
@@levfriedman9802not for a professional trombonist who would be playing this piece , I agree it’s hard in context, but any first chair/ principal for a respected orchestra can hit that Eb no problem
@@bamb0049ive played with enough pro 1st chairs that dread or crack on the top Eb. Its no joke even for the best of us. Remember you are cold, 20 minutes or so just sitting through this cute string woodwind stuff and then you have like 3 bars to get to that Eb. Of course if you are pro you should hit it, but its not a piece of cake or something haha its a serious piece of repertoire
I have perfect pitch I’m not tooting my own horn i promise I’m just thinking doesn’t sound kinda sharp? It’s almost like they’re playing in E natural major
Yeah i agree. The triplets are so sloppy at this tempo and the 1st trombone dies on the high Eb. It should be solemn but its still about the rhine river, there should still be some regiment to it i feel.
