Having control of your breath attacks is at the foundation of mastering any type of articulation on the trombone. Efficiency in the use of your airstream, coupled with a proper embouchure setup, are the key ingredients to having clean and articulate breath attacks. In this video, I play a few exercises using a metronome to help create precision in the timing of my breath attacks. If you’ve ever struggled with executing breath attacks, this video is full of tips and strategies to help you produce a clear, precise and articulate sound when using breath attacks.

Hey Dion, love the video. Is there a syllable you're considering with these breath attacks? Like a Fuu or Foe? Maybe Foh? Or just blowing naturally? Thanks for your time. Much love my friend

If I think of any syllable it would be Ooh. I allow the air to guide my lips to the correct position. It should feel like you are blowing out a candle.
