Gabriele Marchetti was born in Città di Castello (Italy) in 1983 and started his musical studies at the age of six with accordion then on euphonium, trombone and bass trumpet. Since 2007 he is member of the Italian Wonderbrass ( • Italian Wonderbrass ).
He acted as freelance Solo Trombone for Teatro La Fenice in Venezia, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Firenze, Teatro alla Scala and Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala in Milano, Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI in Torino, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Spira Mirabilis, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Kammerorchester Basel, Camerata Bern, Berner Sinfonieorchester and more.
In 2012 Gabriele Marchetti joined Theater Orchester Biel Soloturn (www.tobs.ch/) as Solo Trombone and in 2017 he is appointed Trombone Professor at AIMART in Roma (www.aimart.it).
He plays modern and classical period handmade trombones, crafted upon his own design by Matthias Hölle in Germany (www.hoelle-posaunen.de).

Mr. Marchetti, you make, by a large margin, the highest quality and most helpful trombone videos on all of RU-vid. I tell everyone that plays trombone about these videos any chance I get; as I think they could be as valuable a resource to the modern trombonist as tromboneexcerpts.org or imslp or Spotify. Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it! At the moment I am taking a break from posting videos, mostly because of some family projects, but I would like to know what could be the "hottest" topics I should talk about in the future: any suggestions?

@@GabrieleMarchetti I think you've already done a fantastic job covering trombone playing fundamentals. What I think is missing, on RU-vid as a whole, is comprehensive discussion of trombone solo repertoire. I would love to see a video where you demonstrate and share your thoughts on, for instance, the Grøndahl Trombone Concerto. I know that is quite an intensive undertaking, but I think high school and college students would have a lot to gain from something like that.

Amazing! This is similar to Pasquale Bona's "Rhythmical Articulation" method repurposed for trombone! I've been enjoying your videos, thank you for sharing this precious information! Also, your sound 🙌

but how do you improve ur attacks?

Well, for this question I think I have already given enough suggestions and answers in my videos about staccato, slide technique, low register, high register and articulation. The very first step is to have clearly in mind which kind of attack you want: you might be surprised how many people have no idea about it! In this video I mostly show a way to shift from imagining or hearing to seeing what kind of attacks you produce, in order to get more awareness and encourage self experimenting!

Im having a lot of trouble making my attacks clear. I think its due to my articulation. When I tongue my tongue hits under my upper teeth and hits my upper lip a little bit. I’ve heard this is wrong and it should hit the back of the upper teeth. How do I fix this?

Thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply... Unfortunately it's not possible to give you effective suggestions without a live-playing session! But I would anyway suggest you to switch from T to a quick L as a reference for the staccato pronunciation: this could help you find a better placement for your tongue and get a better tone. The clarity of the staccato isn't just a matter of articulations but mostly of coordinations: you could have a look at my videos about staccato and slide technique to get other ideas!
