The two schools battling are: Bowie State University (Yellow Band) Benedict College (Purple Band) 3. I don’t know all of the song title so I won’t make a list but I will pin the comment if anyone can make an accurate song list. 4. Puffing your cheeks has it’s uses...(Ask the teacher that told you) 5. Lastly, as far as tone, brass instruments sound like this in HBCU bands as we tend to push the limits of our horns’ volume at times while maintaining great unison tone. Other bands don’t do this so their instruments tend to deliver a warmer, rounded tone while playing, but since brass can handle such demand so we go for it.

The college now is growing way more diverse as they're expanding the campus as well as reaching out to students nationwide. As for why, there's really no particular reason, it's just the area is predominantly black and full of black musicians.

The soloist could blow out the other college 🤦🏽‍♂️

i dont know which is which, but the guys in the purple uniforms had more musicians so they could have richer harmonies.....also i liked their selection of songs better. the guy playing the solos seems quite skilled. they should have played one song all of them together.

Thanks for all the views, criticism and comments. Benedict did a great job that day and it was nice hanging out with band members that take pride in being a part their band. ....I just wish the mellophones were more risk takers in the stands lol

Y’all are all talking about how the yellow band did good “for only having 5 trombonists”, but I’ve seen so many jazz bands with a killer trombone section with the exact same size as the yellow band.
